- Sweeping the Field: The Stars delivered an impressive performance on Oct. 25. Leading the charge was Jaylen McGill, who amassed 206 total yards and three touchdowns, playing a pivotal role in the Stars’ offensive attack. Quarterback Bryson Drummond was also in top form, throwing for 296 yards and four touchdowns while completing an impressive 77.8% of his passes. Location: Union, SC Nickname: Yellowjackets
Colors: Black & Yellow Region: 3 - 3A
Head coach: Quinnon Isom
2023 record: 1 - 9 (0 - 4 Reg. 4 - 3A)
Current Record: 2 - 6 ; 1 - 2
Last Week: Defeated by Woodruff 42 - 15
Worth noting:
- Union County High School is the product of a consolidation of three schools -- Union, Jonesville and Lockhart. Each of the schools were no stranger to success. Lockhart won the 1971 (1-A) state championship, Jonesville won the 1990 (1-A) state championship, and Union won the 1990 (4-A), ‘95 (4-A), ‘99‘00 (3-A), & ‘02 (3-A) state championships. Although there are seven state championships between the three schools, none of the championships are recognized by Union County High School.
- Quinnon Isom is in his first season as head coach of Union County. Previously, Isom was defensive coordinator at Crest High in Shelby, North Carolina, where he served for two seasons. Prior to that, he played a pivotal role in the success of Wren High School, guiding the team as defensive coordinator to a 4A State Championship in 2019.
- Jakevious Jennings and Josh Rice-Brandon have been top playmakers for the Yellowjackets.
