This year, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley is hitting the half-century mark and has planned their season to highlight all of the things that have thrilled patrons, launched new shows, honored beloved classics and left the audience wanting more. So it was no surprise that, just before this most momentous anniversary, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will be honored as the Best Regional Theatre at the 73rd Annual Tony Awards. We could not be prouder to have hosted TheatreWorks as our Home Company from the day our doors first opened in 1991. And their first show with MVCPA? The world premiere of the musical Go Down Garvey. So let’s see what’s in store 28 years later.

Mark Twain’s River of Song

by Randal Myler and Dan Wheetman and directed by Randal Myler A ROLLICKING MUSICAL JOURNEY Book passage on a riverboat down the mighty Mississippi, teeming with rousing traditional songs and the poignant stories of the Big Muddy’s favorite son, Mark Twain. Told with wry humor and surprising emotion, played on a parade of guitars, banjos and harmonicas, this music-filled journey will have you tapping your feet as it warms your heart.

Facing a devious publisher, a cantankerous competitor and their own insecurity, they illuminate this tale of love, loss and laughter, the soaring finale of Artistic Director Robert Kelley’s 50th Season at TheatreWorks.

Steps of the Words Saturday, June 1 at 2 pm Sunday, June 2 at 1 pm An anthology of ballads from the past to modern days. A ballad is a novel in which flow and rhythm enrich history and make it iconic at the same time. Each step, each chapter, and each word becomes an emotional experience of the protagonist and gives us a chance to build a unique poetic play. This performance is performed entirely in Russian and is appropriate for ages 8+ due to subject matter.

Two Arrows: Stone Age Detective

Can one man, one moment, derail a century?

Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph explores the present by focusing on the past: the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo, 1914 — the flash that ignited World War I. On a darkly comic quest for immortality, three hapless insurgents prove that little has changed from then to now. This New Works Festival sensation is from the author of Broadway’s Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo.

Saturday, June 8 at 4 pm Sunday, June 9 at 1 pm A murder is committed within a tribe, and the arrows belong to a dreamy young painter.

When a trial is held, it becomes obvious – the tribe's order of life is on trial. In the end, the Head of the Tribe departs, three people are dead, and the tribe's rules and values are bound to change. This performance is performed entirely in Russian and is appropriate for ages 8+ due to subject manner.

Interfaith in Mountain View: Separation of Church and State Thursday, September 12 at 6:30 pm Moderated by Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian and co-sponsored by the City of Mountain View, this interfaith panel consisting of Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist and Christian representatives aim to address the different ways in which their religious communities have interacted with government. The panel will answer questions such as: What are normative teachings in your tradition about separation of church and state? How has your religious community traditionally interacted with the state? How does this relationship play out in the United States today? What happens when your religious practices conflict with the state? What are some of both the challenges and benefits of religious communities’ relationship with the state or lack thereof? The session will also include a period of Q&A with the audience. Join us!

info Directions The Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts is in the heart of downtown Mountain View on the corner of Castro and Mercy streets. Castro Street may be easily reached from Highways 101 and 280, Central Expressway, and El Camino Real. Group Rates Purchasing Tickets Online

Tickets to events listed in Preview Magazine may be purchased in advance, subject to availability. Please note that tickets are not refundable. A $2 or $3 (depending on event) per ticket Facility Use Fee is included in the listed Preview ticket prices. Other applicable service charges apply depending on method of purchase.

Service charges for on-line purchases vary according to the ticket price. These tickets may be held at Will Call, you may print them on your own at home or you may choose the mobile delivery option to scan the ticket directly from your phone screen.

Purchasing through the Ticket Office

All patrons, regardless of age, must have a ticket.

There are no refunds or exchanges unless a performance is canceled or rescheduled.

The Center’s ticket office is open for walk-up sales Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 6 pm, and one hour prior to the event start time.

Additional Services

You may also charge your tickets by phone by calling 650-903-6000 Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 6 pm, or by leaving a message on our Ticket Services’ Information Hotline voicemail.
