FROM THE

HEAD of

830 STARTING STRONG

SCHOOL DR. GREG BEASLEY At MVCA we believe, if it’s Christian, it should be better. Miami Valley Christian Academy steadfastly embraces a commitment to uncompromising Christian education where our students grow spiritually, achieve academically, and develop their unique gifts and talents to fulfill their God-given purpose to one day change the world. Every day, each MVCA Team member utilizes their resources to engage and equip students to strengthen their minds, their hearts, and their faith—learning to become not only wiser, but more like Jesus. For 27 years God has given us the strength and direction to preserve the 4 keystone pillars the Academy is built on—Faith, Academics, Athletics, and Fine Arts. These are the foundation of every MVCA education. By God’s grace, we have experienced explosive growth over the last 8 years from a student body of 324 to over 830 students. Growth is critical for maintaining a thriving educational experience. It will increase the quality of Academics, Athletics and Fine Arts with more student athletes and performers. In addition, a larger student body gives us a broader and stronger tuition base, thereby ensuring our future independence and sustainability. The Leadership Team and Board of Trustees are in step with and has answered His call for growth with an approval of plans for multiple 4-pillar projects and a building expansion that will make us STRONGER. For such a time is this, we need to be responsible stewards and continue building on our healthy foundation. Like you, we want our school to become STRONGER as we grow. 2

That’s why we developed the STRONGER Initiative. The STRONGER Initiative will make the educational experience for your children better, while affording other families in our communities to give their children the same opportunity. In Scripture, Jesus emphasizes the importance of using the gifts given by God to advance His Kingdom, promising rewards for those who faithfully do so.

GETTING STRONGER

Matthew 5:21- “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things.” We have purchased 7 surrounding properties to give us flexibility for ongoing expansion plans. These plans include new classrooms, expanded upper school gym facilities, updated Fine Arts staging, lights and preparation spaces in Founders Hall, and an enhanced spiritual life experience— to name a few. We couldn’t be more excited about where we believe God is leading us– towards an even stronger MVCA. Our hope is to be able to serve students in STRONGER spaces by the start of the 2024-25 academic year with the completion of the Upper School addition-just in time to serve the wave of students headed to school that year! I ask for your sincere prayers over our efforts as we seek to walk in His great commission for His ministry and all that He desires to do through MVCA. God Bless you and God Bless MVCA. 3

Miami Valley’s homecoming tailgate and football game is a night that students and families look forward to all year, and the 2022 tailgate did not disappoint! The night began with guests arriving and being welcomed with great food and countless opportunities to have fun and connect with the community. There were bounce houses set up for grades K-12 and students did not hesitate to jump in and have a blast with all their friends. Even parents were raving about how much of a success the night was. When asked about the night, Drew Varney, a senior at MVCA, said it was, “the best tailgate Miami Valley has ever put on and was a great opportunity to spend time and have fun with other students and families.” As the night progressed, the transition from the tailgate to the football game was seamless. Attendees funneled into the stands and the pep band and cheerleaders got the crowd ready and excited for the game. The student section showed up more than ever before, with the highest number of students in attendance of any of the football games thus far. Ethan Geiger, a senior at MVCA and lineman for the Lions, said that “the support of the students and parents is what gives the players the encouragement to keep pushing and playing no matter the score, and hearing the student section cheering always raises our spirits.” The way that students, players, teachers, coaches, and anyone else in attendance can connect and come together to cheer on the team is unmatched, and it is truly heartwarming to see everyone showing their school spirit. Nothing makes the student body feel as connected as the Friday night football excitement can. And this excitement only grew as the game perfectly prepared students for the homecoming dance set to happen the following night! Overall, the tailgate was a massive success and will be remembered as one of the best MVCA has ever put on! by Maggie Miller, Class of 2023

Lights and Lanterns

Miami Valley Christian Academy focuses not only on academics but the spiritual and social life of its students. Along with the hard work students exhibit in the classroom, they have the opportunity to celebrate in fellowship with peer believers. 1 Corinthians By Meka Ferry, 10:31 says “Whether you eat or drink, Class of 2024 or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” Dances and social events encourage community that fosters friendship that in turn builds up faith in students. Homecoming dances are a widespread tradition in many high schools. The dances tend to be specifically for students in grades 9 through 12. At MVCA (Miami Valley Christian Academy) it took place in Founder’s Hall on September 24, 2022, from 7 to 10pm. The theme of the Homecoming Dance was “Lanterns and Lights” as decided by the Student Council. The hall was dark with lights and decorations in various areas. One of the most unique additions was a square structure set up in the middle of the room adorned with string lights and cloth. Assistant Principal Joy Swensen said this about the structure: “Last year one of the biggest pieces of feedback was that Founder’s Hall was such a huge space that [students] felt very exposed when they were dancing, and it made students feel kind of insecure. So, we were talking about it and brainstorming, and I suggested that we bring the space in and make it more intimate: What if we create a space within a space? [The Student Council] loved this and the ideas started flowing.” The structure encouraged students to dance and be more comfortable

12

around their classmates, and all in all gave all the students a sense of security. Another unique aspect the Student Council brought to the dance was the photo booths. There was both a standstill photo booth with lights and decorations for normal photographs and a 360-photo booth, which could take a video all around a small platform. Students would fit between 1 and 5 people on the platform and dance, pose, etc. This was a large hit as an attraction and a memory of what the whole environment felt like when recalling the night. The physical attributes of the environment largely contributed to the atmosphere of the dance that made it so memorable. Students and teachers alike enjoyed the Homecoming dance. Teachers had the ability to chaperone the dance, as one Becka Miller, history teacher and chaperone stated: “It was a lot of fun, I got to see all the students dressed up and be themselves. It was fun to see students share their personality more than what they do in class and really express themselves on the dance floor. I really liked showing them my own dance moves and that you can do more than jump.” Miss Miller both initiated and joined the students’ dancing and made the night that much more memorable for all there. The Homecoming dance was a wonderful way for students to interact outside of school and connect for the glory of the Lord. It strengthened relationships between both students and staff and gave the high school a night to remember.

Upper School Chapel Prompts Spiritual Growth and Leadership Currently in my 13th year at MVCA, I have truly seen our school chapels evolve. Since kindergarten, I have attended one each week and it has been one of my favorite parts of the week. Having a break in the day to hear from one of the teachers or even an outside speaker was a great thing to look forward to. The Upper School chapel has heavily changed in the past few years, but from what I have seen and heard from By Kristen Perry, Class of 2023 other students, this is the best year yet. Under new leadership from Mr. Ryan Wagoner, Spiritual Life Director, the feedback has all been positive! Mr. Wagoner spoke, along with Mrs. Beasley and Mr. Wagoner’s brother. We just finished our mini-series focused on prayer and how to walk alongside God through prayer. Personally, I think this was a perfect topic for high schoolers to hear, and I know many are looking forward to the upcoming speakers and series that will be covered this year. After talking to Mr. Wagoner, he has a great vision for the future of chapel. He says, “I have really enjoyed getting to participate with our students at chapels so far this year. I am super pumped to have had so many students sign up and are leading through chapel band. It is also really cool to see so many students taking notes while the speaker is talking. Any time we gather together at MVCA for chapel or even when you are gathering with your own church, the hope and prayer that we should all have is that God shows up and teaches us something. There is no doubt that God always shows up, but the question is if we make time to listen and open our hearts and come to chapel with the right mindset to receive something from Him. I think so far this year the vast majority of our students are coming ready to worship, hear from God, and the results have been exciting because I feel the Spirit of God has really moved in the minds and hearts of many each week that were seeking to hear something from Him. Can’t wait to see what He does next!” Students and faculty have only had good things to say about the services this year, especially for the new student-led praise band, which has never been better. It is so inspiring to see peers using their gifts and talents to honor God and have the courage to do it on stage. With a whole new group of students from sixth to twelfth grade on stage every week, they are learning to be amazing role models and leaders, as well as pursuing their passion. Wilson Dick is an incredibly talented drummer who has been part of the school’s worship team for six years now, along with the band at Horizon Community Church. Wilson says, “It is amazing to see so many other students with the desire to worship. I’ve loved leading, watching, and preparing the next generation to lead the school in worship.” He has been a great leader to the younger students who are new to the team, and a dedicated member. I know I am not the only one who continues to look forward to chapel and see the great ways God will use it this year! 13

“ I am come that they may have life and have it more abundantly.” - John 10:10 He sacrificed His life so that we may inherit the promise of eternal life with Him in heaven. He then sent the Holy Spirit as a daily comfort and guide for us as we live out this daily life here on earth. His plan was for us to live better than how the world offers us. Jesus came to make life better. We were created with unique gifts, talents, and abilities to enable us to THRIVE in life.

14

Mini themes of chapel this year included: How to thrive through prayer, how to worship and thrive in situations, overcoming adversity and the path to thrive, leadership qualities that help you thrive, and more! Chapel time each week offers moments to worship and teachings to encourage and edify the spirit. May we all seek a relationship that brings us close to the One that takes us from surviving to thriving in Christ.

Don’t we all just treasure the feeling of fall at our fingertips? The leaves changing into the warm tones we wait all year to see, the cool breeze that brushes through our favorite sweatshirt. I think we can all agree fall is one of those seasons that has to be celebrated and MVCA has continually shown their love for the season and their love for the students by throwing a fall bash just before fall break. So, what is the Fall Bash anyways? Well, our Head of School, Dr. Beasley, and his family decided they wanted to bless the students in this exciting season, so they generously planned a fun day for the students to get excited for fall break. Some things that they lovingly provide for the students on this day are delicious treats, like popcorn or candy, and even a cup of warm cider or hot cocoa served by joyful moms who choose to volunteer! The love and happiness students can see in the volunteer’s eyes are what makes it so much more special. Receiving yummy goodies from laughing moms that the students all love and appreciate is a gift in itself. Aside from the treats, the Beasleys incorporate even more into this day to make it special. They put mini pumpkins out in front of the school for the little tots

to choose from, so it almost feels like they are picking from a real pumpkin patch! Being a student of MVCA for over a decade now, I remember when my friends and I were in Lower School, and we would get to go out of class and pick out our very own pumpkin. My favorite memory was bringing the pumpkins inside with my friends as we would pick out the perfect name for them and then give them “baths” in the bathroom sinks. As silly as it sounds, those are the memories I will never forget. As if this all weren’t enough, the Beasleys plan a hayride every year for the seniors! They get out of class early and hop on the hayride and get to cherish the time with their classmates while munching on fun goodie bags. Something that is unique about the Fall Bash is that the Beasleys have continued this tradition since their first year at MVCA. It gives students something to look forward to as they lead up to fall break. Junior, Jessie Stagnaro says her “favorite part about the fall bash is the comforting feel that they continue to bring back every year” and “really enjoys the kind gesture while getting the food and warm beverages every year”. If it weren’t for the loving MVCA team at this special school that spend the time preparing for a fun event like the Fall Bash, MVCA just wouldn’t be the same.

By Jozy Kairu, Class of 2024 Family is the heart of every home. Every year on MVCA’s Grandparents Day the beauty of family, love, and support is seen throughout the Lower School. As longstanding tradition at MVCA, Grandparents Day is a day of appreciation for the love and support of the patriarchs and matriarchs of MVCA families. In the beginning, while MVCA was a small community, Lower School students put on a play for their families. As we continued to grow, we introduced a new way to recognize the seldom seen support systems of grandparents. Hosted on the Lower School side of MVCA’s campus, grandparents are invited to spend the morning with their grandchildren at school and see where they learn and spend their days. This enjoyable day for both is seen in the smiles of grandparents as well as the enthusiastic way their grandkids pull them around the lower school showing off MVCA. Notable Team members who are key in this event are Mrs. Scott and Mrs. Powell. They planned and administered this day. The preparation and fulfillment of such an event is truly a team effort. Before the school year even begins, the MVCA Team begins planning this fun day for the kids

The Student Council Experience By Ethan Geiger, Class of 2023

Student Council is the best way to have your voice heard and to work with your peers to make logical decisions regarding the school and scholastic activities. Being on Student Council, I have been able to see all that transpires, and I am able to be part of some important discussions. When I asked Maggie Miller, the Student Council secretary, for her thoughts on Student Council, she said, “It makes me feel like I have a say in school activities, and I feel like I am more

connected to the student body.” Furthermore, Student Council Treasurer Kristen Perry said, “I love being part of Student Council, it makes me feel involved with the events, and I can help people get what they want.” I concur with what Kristen and Maggie said, as a class representative my voice can be heard, and wishes can be known. As someone on Student Council, I feel responsible for my peers, and I believe that it is my job to accurately advocate for them. My favorite thing about Student Council is the opportunity to collaborate with the staff and students to make better decisions in our school. Some collaborations involve Back-to-School

and their grandparents. They create a safe environment for all, following the pandemic years that put a pause to this and many other MVCA events. Every detail about the day is well thought out including the date that Grandparents Day is hosted. MVCA tries to host Grandparents Day around the date of the actual National Grandparents Day, a detail that is unknown to many but goes to show the effort MVCA puts into this event. Speaking with Mrs. Scott about the event, she emphasized the importance of full participation from both faculty and students, and how such cooperation has led to many years of success in MVCA’s Grandparents Day. On that day around MVCA’s Lower School, many Upper School students can be seen working the event in a variety of roles. Even though this is an event for Lower School, Upper School students have the opportunity to volunteer through programs such as NHS, the MVCA football team, etc. Upper School students accommodate the grandparents by directing them to their grandchildren’s classrooms, providing them with the day’s program, and working the photo booth as just a few examples of the great volunteer opportunities provided on grandparents day and according to Mrs. Scott the Upper School students are a big part of the positive feedback received. One of MVCA’s beloved family events made to ensure inclusion of all MVCA support systems, Grandparents Day is truly a joy for the entire MVCA Community.

night, spirit week, Grandparents Day, Homecoming, Advance, Walkathon, and Prom. Maggie Miller said her favorite thing about Student Council is “When we have meetings and are able to hear everyone’s opinions and compromise with what everyone wants.” Kristen Perry’s favorite thing is getting to work with Mrs. Swensen to make events as good as they possibly can.” As stated earlier, one way that Student Council benefits the school is with Prom. Prom is a massive hill to climb, which involves teamwork between the staff and the students. First, the Prom Committee must be chosen, then they must see potential venues. Next, the Prom Committee must decide and place a deposit on the venue of their choosing. Finally, the Prom Committee must plan the logistics and find a theme. After the planning is done, the Student Council helps to make a wonderful prom full of memories. With the

Student Council having 20 members, there is more than enough help for laborious tasks such as this. Student Council is a wonderful place for a variety of opinions and thoughts, all with the potential to change the school. Emma Guin, the Student Council president said, “It’s a blessing to be able to know that the students have such an impact and say on events that the school puts on. The leadership and growth that you are able to experience in Student Council, one should take for granted. It is a great responsibility to bless the school with activities that bring us closer together and build each other up in love and faith. It is an opportunity to step up and be leaders and disciples as God has called us to do.” Student Council benefits the school, the staff, and the students, and teaches life lessons to all those involved. 19

Miami Valley Christian Academy provides multiple avenues for developing student leaders. MVCA Student Council is just one of those avenues. Elected by the Upper School student body, Student Council is composed of Senior Officers and High School Class Representatives. MVCA Student Council is overseen by Assistant Principal and Student Council Advisor, Joy Swensen. The MVCA Student Council Advisor works alongside the currently elected Student Council President to ensure the interests and ideas represented within Student Council align with the overall mission and vision of the school. Student Council works diligently to build student support and excitement in Discipleship, Athletics, and Fine Arts and humbly seeks to lead the way in character, academics, service, and spiritual growth among their peers. This group of student leaders is tasked with managing a wide range of events, activities, and other initiatives around the school, as well as participating in community service opportunities throughout the year. Student Council is never short on coming up with fun and creative ways to bring the hype to every Lion event, and every event they plan and oversee is left with a sense of accomplishment and feeling of excitement for the next one!

Prom was overall an amazing event from start to finish. From the planning meetings at lunch, to tear down at after prom, every event was full of excitement, laughter, memories. Being able to make Prom exactly what the Senior Class dreamed of their Senior Prom to be was an honor and so much fun to execute. The joy an event outside of the school building brings to the students is unmatched. Being able to have something for just the upperclassmen is a great opportunity for the older students to continue their bond and create and build relationships to last even outside of MVCA. It is a blessing to be able to attend Prom as one of the Seniors last events as a grade and school. MVCA Prom is so special in the fact that it is a safe, fun and encouraging atmosphere to have a good time while honoring God in everything that is being said and done.

possibility of transitioning from Forest Hills to MVCA. We asked him to join us in prayer for a couple of weeks. During this period, God spoke to us so clearly, confirming that it was indeed time for this transition. When we reconvened to discuss our thoughts, before we could even share our perspectives, Sam said, “I believe God is calling me to MVCA.” It was such an answer to prayer! Our expectations for MVCA were straightforward: we sought a Christian-based education that would not only nurture our son’s academic growth but also reinforce God’s love and plan for his life. While it’s often said that one must merely “survive” middle school, we firmly believed that this mindset did not align with God’s intended path for our family. I will forever cherish the memory of our drive to MVCA on the first day. The sign in front of the school initially read “Survive,” but someone had erased part of it, replacing it with the word “Thrive.” In that profound moment, I realized that God had planted a holy discontent in my heart, guiding our family out of what was comfortable and into a community He had thoughtfully prepared our hearts for. We were undeniably where we belonged.

hat an incredible journey our family has embarked on since joining the MVCA family one year ago! Our three sons, Sam, Bear, and Noah, initially began their educational journey in the Forest Hills school district, where we had a wonderful experience. However, during this time, I felt a persistent calling from God towards MVCA, even though the timing remained uncertain. I sat in a Bible study for years praying over this decisionlike I really had the power to alter God’s plan for my children’s lives. None the less, I worried and I prayed, stressed and prayed some more. In fact, I think we applied 3 years in a row before actually making the move. God eventually orchestrated a beautiful plan for our family. As our eldest son, Sam, approached junior high, it became apparent that it was time for a significant change. We sat down with Sam and discussed the

From his very first day at MVCA, Sam has truly thrived. His teachers have been an incredible blessing, challenging him while offering unwavering support for his growth, praying both with and for him. This year, we sadly experienced the loss of a close friend. The day after his passing, I asked Sam if he wanted to stay home from school. To my surprise, he responded, “No! I want to ask Mrs. Whittaker to pray with me this morning!” Sam’s desire for prayer with Mrs. Whittaker highlighted the spiritual environment at MVCA. Additionally, we moved our younger two, Bear and Noah, to MVCA, witnessing how the school embraced each child individually. MVCA isn’t merely a school where Christianity is taught; it’s a Christian school where faith is woven into every aspect. Our family experiences an indescribable peace, knowing our kids are thriving and surrounded by a welcoming community. Sam, in his first year, grew in faith, made new friends, and expressed his only regret – not starting at MVCA sooner. We are immensely blessed and grateful to be part of this community.

THE

RADER FAMILY

Our search for an alternative school began when Zara was in second grade. She had been attending a CPS school since Kindergarten. Initially, we were content with her elementary school, but after a few years, we noticed a negative impact on Zara’s behavior due to her classmates. It was then that we realized our desire to find a school where teachers, administration, students, and parents shared our values and faith. Friends of ours suggested we consider MVCA. When we toured MVCA on a regular school day, we felt the unmistakable presence of the Holy Spirit. We knew we had been led to the right school. We promptly submitted our application, and in 2019, Zara started third grade, and David began pre-school. Now, after several years at MVCA, we can see how God is working within the school. During our time here, we’ve witnessed significant growth in enrollment and improvements to the facilities, including the addition of Founders Hall and the football field. Currently, we are witnessing the next chapter unfolding with the Stronger campaign. We’ve observed how Greg and his staff do not attempt to force an agenda; instead, they watch for where the Lord is guiding, listen for His voice, involve the community in prayer and volunteer efforts, and allow the Lord to clear the path for His glory. Returning to our initial reason for choosing MVCA – the formation of the children entrusted to our care. We must acknowledge that we’re all novices at this endeavor called childrearing. However, the Bible instructs us to train up our children in the way they should go, and they will not depart from it. What better way to achieve this than by enrolling them in a school where Biblical teachings are at the core of the curriculum? In addition to the standard educational subjects, we’ve watched our children grow in their faith and knowledge of the Word. Our kids receive prayers from their teachers, and they truly know the Lord. We are eagerly looking forward to another year at MVCA. We can’t wait to see the Lord at work within the school through the dedicated teachers, staff, students, and volunteers. We also pray that as a family, we will continue to live out God’s purpose for our lives each and every day.

hen my family began our search for a school that would suit our needs, our son was already attending a wonderful preschool at our church, and our daughter was enrolled in a nearby parochial school. Our due diligence for our children’s education took us to a variety of Open Houses in the area for two consecutive years before finally settling on MVCA. When our oldest child, Eve, had the chance to shadow a student during third grade, she came home excited to become a Lion for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. From our very first visit, we felt like we were a welcomed part of a family. Since then, MVCA has become a cornerstone in our family’s life, impacting every aspect of it. From the friendships our kids have formed to the bonds we’ve built with fellow parents, the camaraderie of stage performances, and the thrill of athletic competitions, MVCA offers a vibrant and full community that radiates love. Everyone genuinely cares about each other, and there’s a profound commitment to maintaining this sense of community and care throughout the culture. From an academic standpoint, the school strikes a balance – students are not overwhelmed with homework, yet they are held accountable and appropriately challenged by their assignments.

MVCA unquestionably provides the most Christ-centered school environment we’ve ever encountered. We’ve often told our friends that the atmosphere here feels equally like a ministry and a school, symbolically embodied by its location at the intersection of Church St. and School St. in Newtown. It’s reassuring to know that the values and lessons we uphold at home are reflected in the hallways of the school. We are immensely grateful for the administration’s diligence in selecting teachers and coaches, as well as the overall admissions process, to ensure that this special environment is nurtured and safeguarded amidst the blessings of growth and the opportunities that growth brings. What isn’t lost on us is the sense of community and the friendships we’ve developed as a family through our association with MVCA. On a snowy Sunday night in January of 2021, tragedy struck when our home was engulfed in flames. Thankfully, no one was injured, but we lost nearly all our clothes and most of our possessions. We never spent another night in that house. While the fire still raged, friends, teachers, and fellow parents from MVCA began rallying together, assembling an incredible blessing basket for us with donations of food, gift cards, essential items, clothing – you name it. They personally delivered it to us a couple of days later. Even though we never expected any of this generosity and tried to decline, the spirit of giving, love

for one another, and the willingness to help someone in need were on full display, and it was evident that the Holy Spirit was at work in their hearts. We have never felt so loved and supported. Our connection with MVCA has taken on a ministry-like quality. Robert (Mr. Weeks) can often be found working on sets for the plays and musicals or helping with tasks like organizing the Lost & Found, all out of sheer goodwill. Being Fine Arts Boosters patrons, we hate to miss a show and proudly support whatever our rising 9th grader, Eve, and 5th grader, Robert, want to try next.

While I (Maryanne) have a remote-based job that allows us some flexibility in choosing where to live, we have no intention of leaving this area despite our deep roots in Florida, and MVCA is one of the primary reasons for that decision. Both our children love it here and are thriving academically while growing stronger in their faith. They both express that it feels like home to them, which truly says it all. MVCA is intricately woven into the fabric of our family and has genuinely been a blessing to each of us in a unique way.

ur journey towards Miami Valley Christian Academy began last year, as my son, Jaxon, prepared to enter the 7th grade. Although we had heard resounding endorsements of MVCA, we initially attempted to make Jaxon’s public school experience viable. However, throughout his 6th-grade year, he returned home each day, bored and eager for something new- a more stimulating educational environment. Jaxon was initially apprehensive about transitioning to a new school, as he didn’t know anyone attending MVCA. Moms know that Middle school inherently is a challenging period of life, no matter what school you attend and this made me nervous as well. Nonetheless, following Jaxon’s first week at MVCA, I asked Jaxon about his experience and the aspects he like most. His response was both surprising and heartwarming. While he had wholeheartedly embraced participation in the Cross Country team, forming meaningful connections with fellow students and his coach, his favorite part of the school were the TEACHERS! This past year, we’ve seen a profound transformation in Jaxon’s growth and development. He is not merely adapting but thriving within the MVCA environment. We are fortunate to be a part of this exceptional MVCA community. In our hearts, we hold the conviction that MVCA is a divine gift, and we have not regretted our decision to enroll Jaxon here for one moment. As we anticipate the forthcoming school year, we are filled with excitement about the opportunities that lie ahead for Jaxon within the MVCA framework. We are eager to witness the path that the Lord has carved out for him through MVCA.

iami Valley Christian Academy, is genuinely a shining beacon within our family, including our identical twin boys, Michael and Malcolm, who are now 10 years old, as well as our 7-year-old daughter, Savannah. Our journey with MVCA started when our boys were in kindergarten, the same time as the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. As we all recall, schools were abruptly closed for the remainder of the year. By the time our boys entered 1st grade, it became increasingly evident that their current school system was not the right fit for our children. The stringent Covid-19 restrictions forced our boys into online 1st-grade education, shedding light on the true nature of that school system. It became abundantly clear that we needed a better educational environment for our children. Our pivotal moment arrived when we scheduled a tour of MVCA. From the instant we stepped through those doors, we recognized that we had stumbled upon something truly different and set apart. We enrolled Michael and Malcolm in the 2nd grade and Savannah into kindergarten. Mrs. Weber, Mrs. Hunkler,

and Mrs. Hawks will forever hold a special place in our hearts as their initial teachers at MVCA. Michael and Malcolm had entered with academic deficits due to the setbacks resulting from the Covid-19 disruptions. Despite our supplementary tutoring efforts to prepare them for 2nd grade, we were still nervous as parents. Our fears were promptly laid to rest within the first quarter. Mrs. Weber and Mrs. Hunkler, in particular, demonstrated extraordinary dedication in guiding the boys academically. What’s more is that Michael and Malcolm consistently achieved honor roll status throughout the entire year! Meanwhile, Savannah had formed a profound bond with Mrs. Hawks, evident through her unwavering enthusiasm for school. She never wanted to miss a day! Her daily eagerness to attend class spoke volumes about the love and acceptance she experienced within the classroom. As a mother, witnessing this was incredibly reassuring. As Savannah entered first grade, she continued to begin each day with a visit to Mrs. Hawks’ classroom for a warm hug. Miami Valley Christian Academy not only has remarkable teachers but also places a strong emphasis on centering Christ in as many ways as possible in school life. You can feel God’s presence in the halls, on the playground, during parent gatherings, and many other facets of campus life. As parents, it has been a remarkable experience to foster meaningful relationships within this Community. Here, you find yourself surrounded by like-minded parents, committed to instilling the same values and faith in their families as you are. In times of need, you can readily join the prayer meetings organized for parents. Christ is first in the academy, even when confronting challenging situations. The faculty and staff consistently return to the guidance of the Word, teaching our children to navigate problems and adversity with the love of Christ, often ending these types of discussions with heartfelt prayers. The mere mention of these practices brings tears to my eyes. We have discovered a Community of people dedicated to nurturing our children in accordance with the teachings of God’s Word, a priceless treasure. MVCA is an exceptionally rare gem. Our commitment to MVCA extends beyond the education of our children; we are devoted sponsors as well. As owners of an excavation company, we actively seek opportunities to contribute to the school’s growth and support its evolving mission. The expansion of MVCA is an exciting prospect, and we eagerly anticipate what God has in store for its students, staff, and parents. We are so happy to have placed our feet under the table as part of the MVCA family, and we will continue to pray and look for ways to give back as much as we have received. 37

Once again, our second largest fundraiser, the annual walkathon was an incredible success as your generous support of our efforts surpassed our fundraising goal, reaching an impressive $85,000! United together, for a day of fun and purpose- our students aced our interactive course with enthusiasm showing the spirit of community that makes MVCA truly special. Thank you to every donor that played a major role in our success. As always, the funds raised directly enhance the total educational experience of every MVCA student.

The MVCA Annual Academy Auction invited us to collectively Dream Big for our beloved school. As we gathered together and shared dreams of how we would love to see MVCA grow and touch even more families, we gained strength as a community united to follow God’s vision. Giving is powerful when we join forces for a common purpose. The showcase of student performances inspired us and reaffirmed our gratefulness for Christian education. Thank you to every individual that participated and gave in person and online! Proverbs 11:25 (ESV) -”Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.”
