Design philosophy

As designers, we have the precious power of creating spaces which impact people in multiple ways. My philosophy is to establish designs which have a story to share – to capture narrations through minute as well as significant details.

To explore the locational context of the site, pay attention to the client’s cultural as well as personal background is more important to me than creating just an aesthetically pleasing environment. To ignite experiences, memories and perceptions is what excites me and fuels my passion.

Through my designs, I wish to convey a strong message, in the form of design story telling because I believe that the essence of a project is the way it makes its users feel.

First Home – The Maternal Nest

First Home

The Maternal Nest

In the heart of the concept for this paediatric clinic, is the intention to transform a clinical space into an atmosphere that mirrors a child's first home the mother's womb. Here, the main goal is to provide comfort, safety, familiarity, and the eradication of ambiguity. This ensures that children and their families not only embrace doctors’ appointments but look forward to them eagerly.

Corridor Experience :

Beyond reassuring children and their families, the vision for the maternal nest extends to providing sanctity, rejuvenation, and a sense of importance for both patients and staff.

The layout incorporates corridors intentionally designed as spaces where doctors and patients can interact, fostering familiarity and trust.

• The examination room, cleverly named "Check-a-boo," serves as a metaphorical peek-a-book to evoke excitement in children and eradicate their fear.

• Adjacent to the exam rooms is "Dream Cloud," a designated area for children to play, ensuring privacy when needed for doctor-patient consultations.

• Additionally, the "Sparkle Bay" symbolizes the restrooms to motivate everybody to stay clean and sanitized.

Emma and Andrew’s art gallery is the embodiment of diverse artforms, their culture and history. It envisions to bring together a plethora of artists and art enthusiasts under one roof of unity.

While Andrew, originally from Goa, India, is a self-taught sculpture photographer and sculptor, Emma is of the African-American descent, and is an art therapist and painter.
