Köztér újratervezése / Designing a public space 2nd.prize Árkay Díj - Tóth Alma, Egyed János

The challenge was to design a public space at the front of one of Budapest’s city councils, where the urban transport mixture and the multi leveled terrain couldn’t afford a united pleasant place for events. We made this with creating terraced terrain and trough with an “invisible“ triangular pavillion wich interconnects the different parts of the place due they were falling apart. Putting everything under a thin molded structure made possible that the middle of the pavillion got a center for public place. Here they could organize meetings, theater and the ocassional holiday fairs.

A feladat közlekedési csomópont melletti köztér újratervezése volt, mely azt a kihívást jelentette, hogy egy gyakorlatilag nem létező teret a kormányzati hivatal főterévé kellett alakítani. Közlekedési csomópont révén a tér szétszivárgott, ráadásúl a járművekből kiözönlő sokaság fogadására is alkalmatlan volt.A projekt keretén belül, lehetőségünk nyílt az egyik utcasáv szűkítésére illetve egy másik forgalmon kívűl helyezésére.

Egy átfogó pavilonnal összekötött térrendezést akartunk elérni mely összeköti a tér széteső részeit , és rendszert biztosít mind a tömegközlekedést, mind a szabadtéri vásárban résztvevő embertömeg mozgásának, ezenfelül lehetőséget kínál mozgássérültek közlekedéséhez is. Ezt egy háromszög alakú pavilonnal értük el, mely leköveti a domborzati formát és egy olyan központi teret hoz létre, mely a lépcsőzetes téralakításunknak köszönhetően alkalmas színdarabok, előadások és rendezvények befogadására.

Problematics The green areas were pushing the space toward the roads, so we tried to recreate a filter by replacing them next to the road. The pedestrian circulation between the two parts of the city hall and between the bus /tram stop and the main streets were blocked by the original establishment of the place so we continued to reconfigure the landscape for the specific needs. In this way we created the first (ground) layer of the concept. The second layer, the pavilion was created to fade even more the outer space, and mark the most important places of the area.

Adottságok A fáknak az eredeti helyzete, kitolta a használható teret a forgalomárba , mi ezt szerettük volna megfordítani.

A koronás növényzet nagyrészét, az úttest felöl helyeztük el, így egy lágyabb szűrőt kapott a tér. A térszintek teraszos megoldásával pedig egy olyan gyalogos útvonalat hoztunk létre, mely kiszolgálja a hely igényeit. A pavillont egy másadik szűrőként képzeltük el és úgy alakítottuk, hogy betöl- thesse a szüséges funkciókat és kihangsúlyozva a városháza illetve a tér főbb részeit.

Reusing an abaddoned isle /A Hajógyári sziget újrahasznosítása Ábel Viktor, Boromissza Júlia, Egyed János, Farkas Ádám

We got as problem an abandoned isle, which is relatively close to the city center of Budapest. In the recent history, in the socialist era the isle was used primary for industrial boat building, so it is, an industrial area. The secondary usage was mostly for water related leisure. On the island they are some recreation centers as yachting club, canoe rent shops, and some camps and a rehab center for the homeless people. The team had to develop a strategy of reusing the isle, by knowing, that in every year at several times the level of the water is growing so much , that almost the whole isle get’s under water.

Egy olyan problémával kerültünk szembe, amely a Hajógyári sziget újrahasznosításával foglalkozik. A szocialista korszakban a szigetet elsődlegesen hajógyártásra használták, viszont Budapest városközpontjától való távolsága és könnyű megközelíthetősége ideális üdülőteleppé is tette. Mostanra, az elhagyatott gyárakon és szétszórt kempingtelepen kívűl egy kajak-kenu klubb, hajléktalan szálló illetve pár üdülőház található. Egy olyan stratégiát kellet kidolgozzunk, ami újrahasznál a szigeten egyes dolgokat, esetleg telepíthető.

A dunapart viszonylag gazdag környék, viszont a hajléktala- nok és az árszint gyakori emelkedése miatt a sziget inkább egy elhagyatott szocialista emlélbázisra hasonlít.Ez a kontraszt volt az amit mi potenciálnak véltünk és használtunk fel a tervezés során.

A még működő funkciók POTENCIÁL JELENLEG MŰKÖDŐ FUNKCIÓK

Egy szorosabb kapcsolatot szerettünk volna kiépíteni a sziget és a város, a sziget és a környéke között ezért egy hatalmas városi kertet szerettünk volna létrehozni. Budapesten csak nagyon kevés helyen elterjedt viszont nagy szükség lenne rá, ez pedig egy ideális helyszínnek bizonyult , mert a sziget felülete 32% lakalan illetve elhagyatott.

We wanted to create a a connection between the area and the city to get more tight and because of this we designed a huge urban gardening strategy.After a research we found that the flood area provides one of the best soils for planting, and we had 32% of the isle. Near the working parts of the area we created fruit gardens, beds for selected vegetables .

Our approach to the urban gardening strategy was to create at least a three season rotation for the fields. This provides the longevity and the sustainable recurs for our system. Without this, only some parts would be able to be reused, and only seasonal.

A még működő funkciók mellé a legkülönfélébb haszonnövényeket terveztük betelepíteni, évszaktól, árterülettől és mennyiségtől függően, vetésforgóban. Ezáltal a három évszakban egy működő kertet terveztünk, így a sziget újrahasznosítása egy folyamatos , nem évszakfüggő, az árapály változását figyelembe vevő teljes rendszer.

As planned , we wanted to create a community garden, which is creating connections for long term and which has the ability to improve the local communities life. Everybody is invited to participate to learn about the food they consume and the near nature. We’ve seen an opportunity that the schools, childcares and homeless centers to connect to our system, providing them an amount of self collected fresh fruits and vegetables in every week/season for an amount of help or money.

Egy olyan közösségi kertet akartunk létrehozni, amely kapcsolatokat hoz létre, életminőség javító hatása van. A fejlesztési stratégiánk célja az volt, hogy a környékbeli közösségeknek mind az étel, mind a természet iránti kapcsolata megváltozzon. Lehetőséget láttunk a város aktív részvételére, iskolák, napközik és a hajléktalanszállok csatlakozására a rendszerhez, mely bizonyos munka vagy pénzmennyiségért adott mennyiségű, saját szedésű, gyümölcsöt, zöldséget biztosít a felhasználóknak.

Conversion of an industrial building /Gyárcsarnok újrahasznosítása Egyed János - Polihistoria

The semesters main theme was the Reusing abandoned. In the area of the isle a haunted industrial building was left behind and we got the task to convert the construction to an incubator house. The next question was, what actually an incubator house is? What kind of incubator house is the most proper for the place?

When I was exploring the island I had a feeling that this industrial area it would be amazing for some trash music festival. For something ultimately stubborn, underground music which really fits to the island left behind mood. So I wanted to create here an incubator house for something evolved underground music, where the young artists can meet a professional infrastructure, witch would allow them to create, meet each other in a professional medium where they get everything possible for a successful carrier.

A félév vezérfonala a barnamezős beruházás volt. A feladat, egy elhagyatott ipari épület inkubátorházzá alakítása volt. A kérdés maradt, mi az az inkubátorház? Milyen inkubátorház talál leginkább a sziget hátrahagyott lelkületéhez?

A hely tanulmányozása közben, az ipari zóna jellege miatt, olyan érzésem támadt mint hogyha a legideálisabb helyre érkeztem volna valami trash-underground zenei fesztiválra. A lelakott épületek, gyönyörű rozsdás acélcsarnokok környékét az elnőtt cserjék között a trashpunk és révpartik otthonának éreztem. Szerettem volna kiégve ücsörögni a Duna partján egy végtelen hosszú éjszaka után.

The inner space was designed for the special needs of the facility. The used part was reduced to a size which provides for the remaining parts the opportunity to adopt a bigger concert, without compromising in every weather. The base floor was designed for hardcore usage, as a rage room with rubber envelope, and concrete floor where the musicians bands can organize their concerts, where they have the annexes and bigger studios, with a community space, where can they meet, drink a coffee. Afterward the first floor was designed for relaxing, creating, chilling with soft insulation covered boxes inserted in the building rigid structure.

Az új épület az eredeti csarnok csak egy részét foglalja magában. Az eredeti oszloprendszerhez illeszkedő mag, úgy lett igazítva, hogy a csarnok szabadtéri koncerteket is magába fogadhasson. A földszint , mely a dühöngő része az épületnek, abroncsbevonattal rendelkezik, itt találhatóak a nagyobb stúdiók, zajlanak a kissebb koncertek, míg fent az alkotó-tér lett kialakítva, a felhő szerű pihenők, szigetelt kis méretű stúdiókat bújtatva illeszkednek az épület merev struktúrájához.

Negyven lakásos ház / Collective Housing 40 Barsan Claudia, Egyed János

Mantuleasa is a representative core around which important elements of Bucharest was formed. Being a useful segment between two main areas of the city, became populated by merchants and landowners in the XIX.th century. Afterward, the neighborhood changed his density, increasing by the existent built stock gradually and in an inhomogeneous way. The street is well defined by its structure and it’s important part of the structure of the city. It has a a historical background, Mircea Eliade’s (Romanian religion historicist, writer and philosopher) school was once on the given plot. In this place we had the challenge of designing a collective housing project with 40 apartment.

A Mantuleasa, Bukarest egy kiemelkedően fontos utcája a város történelmi részében. Egy olyan lakóházakkal teli utca, mely képét a XIX század utáni iparosodás ellenére is megtartotta, holott a környék lakossága megtöbbszöröződött. Azt a kihívást tártak elénk, hogy egy negyven lakásos “lakótelepet“ hozzunk létre. A téren, melyre tervezni kellett, az egyik legnagyobb román nemzetiségű vallásfilozófus, Mircea Eliade, egykori iskolája volt. Továbbá a telekre való tervezést azok az urbanisztikai szabályok is nehezítették, melyek kötelezővé teszik a tűzfalak eltüntetését.

The neighborhood is mainly populated by collective and twin houses, combined with commercial functions on the ground floor. In the area the P.L.O is 60%, as that we wanted to keep this even lower, for a quality surrounding.

Furthermore, the surrounding of the area didn’t provides for the resident a leisure opportunity, so on, we wanted to create a public park area, in the memory of Mircea Eliade.

A környéken nagyrészt társasilletve csládi házak és ikerházak találhatóak, kereskedelmi egységekkel a földszinten, összhangban a környék történelmi jellegével. A meghatározott beépítési százalék ennek megfelelően pedig 60%. Mivel Bukarest minden más környékén vannak parkok, viszont a környéken a házak buja kertjein kívűl nincsenek, szerettünk volna egy közteret is létrehozni, mely egyben Mircea Eliade filozófusnak is emlékhelyül szolgál. Számunkra egy másik nagyon fontos szempont az épület benapozása volt mert a telek nyitása keletre volt, és a hangsúlyosabb tömegek dél-nyugat irányból árnyékoltak.

Bucharest has freak weather. At summer time, sometimes it reaches 40 degrees.

At wintertime it’s so windy that the icicles are made horizontal, so we considered the sun shading and multi layered facade as necessities. The whole building skin is a huge rod forest therefore, the plots in this area had a rod fence in the past and with those rods they chased away the stray dogs according to the urban legends.

Bukarest időjárása nagyon szeszélyes, nyáron a hőmérséklet alkalmanként eléri a 40 fokot, télen pedig annyira szeles, hogy vízszintesen fagynak meg a jégcsapok az észak-nyugati fekvésű utcákban. Ezért elengedhetetlennek láttuk vesszőhomlokzatot és a többrétegű falszerkezetet.

A vesszőhomlokzatot azért választottuk, mert a modernizmust megelőzően a környék kerítéseit vesszőből fonták.

A környékbeli történetek alapján azzal védték meg a kóbórkutyáltól az emberek.

Maintaining the park idea was the hardest, therefore we had to integrate a subterrain parking opportunity, for 30 vehicles. However we succeeded to manage to occupy only 45 % of the area, in this way that we could leave a ground core inside the plot and an outer park with a small memorial.

Az elemzéseink rámutattak, hogy hogyan lenne a legcélszerübb kialakítani a különböző lakótömböket. A telek déli része nagyon zajosnak bizonyult így egy szűrő teret szerettünk volna elhelyezni ott. Ezen kívűl, szerettünk volna létrehozni egy fokoszatosan, nyilvánostól - magántérig skálázó térrendszert, úgy, hogy az eredeti utcaképbe illeszkedjen az épülettömeg. Ezenekívűl szerettünk volna a zajtól védett részhez megfelelő bejáratot biztosítani, továbbá egy kerülőutat a gyalogosok számára.

Our research contoured, how would be the best to create the living blocks on the plot.

The southern side of the terrain was really noise polluted, so we were about to create a filter there. Afterward we wanted to create a public- private graduation of the ensemble, somehow with a street specific building structure and we created multiple entrances, and a bypass for the pedestrians.

A projekt egyik legnehezebb feladata a földalatti parkoló létrehozása volt aképpen, hogy a terület legnagyobb részét elérhetővé tegyük a koronás növények számára. A tömböket úgy telepítettük, hogy egy központi földmagot hagyjunk és a telek déli csücskén egy parkrészt tudjunk létrehozni szűrőtérként.

Művészeti galéria / Art gallery Egyed János

The project was a padding in the old town of Bucharest, where we could choose the purpose of the intervention. Therefore I thought that in that area it would be necessary a residence for student or artist, which is now inexistent in this part of the city. I wanted to make an Art gallery, which statement has as philosophy the contemporary art. The plot was the focal of many perspectives, so I tried to create a humble accent of the area which respects the surrounding. As specific for the old town we maintained the merchant and leisure character by creating a public space system around the bypass and the shortens. In this way, the whole ground floor is occupied by coffee shops, restaurants and bars specific for the whole old town of Bucharest.

Bukarest szívében egy négy tűzfallal rendelkező telekre belátás szerint tervezni kellett egy olyan épületet, mely segíthet megőrizni illetve fellendíteni a régi városrész életét. A környéken található funkciók közül hiányoztak a bentlakások, lakóépületek (buliközpont révén) ezért egy egy bentlakással ötvözött galériát terveztem, a környék kialakításához hűen a földszinten ellátóegységek, kávézók, kocsmák illetve szerettem volna, ha az egész területet elfoglaló jelenlegi rövidítő útvonalakat megtartva köztereket tudok létrehozni, egy térrendszert hozva létre mely elég nagy tömeget vonz ahhoz, hogy ellássa a galéria igényeit.

The urbanistical regulations obliges the new construction to respect and fit the old buildings height and facade structure.

Az óváros urbanisztikai szabályozása kötelezővé teszi a tűzfalak beépítését, illetve a régi épületek ereszmagasságának az új épükettel való illeszkedését.

Műemlék konzerválása / Conserving a monastery Bârsan Claudia, Egyed János

The Chiajna Monastery is surrounded by many hypothesis, that region of the county being still historically unexplored. The church is mentioned in historical writings from the XVI.th century and it appears in two chartographic maps in 1770 and 1791. In time it was abandoned and later bombarded by the Turkish army. The two archeological excavations which were held in the second half of the XX.th century, left the ruin untouched.

The church was build on a trefoiled plan witch one grand dome above the nave which was destroyed in the earthquake from 1977. It was build in the period of the feudalism and it has impressive structure, with the dimensions of a 16x43 plan and his 2 meter thick walls.

A Chiajna kolostora egy még régészetileg és történelmileg is feltáratlan környékén fekszik Dél-Romániának. Először a XVI-ik században jelenik meg írásos forrásokban, majd az 1770-es és 1791-es kartográfiák jelenítik meg. Időközben a török bombázásoknak köszönhetően elhagyatottá volt, majd érintetlen maradt egészen a XX. század végéig, amikor két feltáró ásatást is végeztek, érintetlenül hagyva a templomtestet.Az 1977es földrengéskor a főkupola beomlott illetve tovább romlott a műemlék állapota. Az alaprajza 16x43 méter és masszív 2 méter vastag falakkal rendelkezik. Az épületegyüttes a feudalizmus korszakában épült mely tovább ragozza az épület körüli információhiányt.

The typological research shows many similarities but also differences between the similar model churches, from the same period. Not one was typologically identical to the studied one. We tried different aproaches of reconstructing the virtual model of the monastery .

After the historical and ideological approaches we started the analogue exploring and we build virtual models. Not one of them was sealed with the ruin marks and the photos, so we had to resign the partially reconstruction of the church, as well we wanted to held the restoration of monastery in a level which are based on certain facts.

A tipológiai kutatásaink sok hasonlóságot mutattak viszont rengeteg különbséget is a hasonló időben épült templomokhoz képest.

A tipológiailag vizsgáltak közül egyik sem volt azonos, holott az ortodox templomok nagyon merev kánonok alapján voltak létrehozva.

Felméréseink utnán többféle nézőpontból megvizsgáltuk az épület rekonstrukciójának lehetőségét. A történelmi és vallásfilozófiai kutatások után analóg módokon is megpróbáltuk értelmezni a templomi romokat. Végül le kellett mondanunk a templom restaurációjáról, és csak konzerválni terveztül azt, mert csak a történelmi is fizikai bizonyítékok szolgálhatnak a restauráció koncepció alapjáúl.

A tanulmányok megerősítették egy előcsarnok jelenlétét, viszont sem a fotók sem a felmérések nem tudtak pontos választ adni a tetősík tipológiájának rekonstruálásához.

A romok jelenlegi állapotának megtartásához szükséges intézkedésnek így, egy olyan beavatkozást képzeltünk el, mely a látogató fantáziájára bízza a rom eredeti mibenlétét.

The studies were showing the existence of a pronaos, but neither the photos or the relevation couldn’t specify the typology of the enclosure, in this way our interventions concept was to leave to the visitors imagination how the original ruin should be like.

In a corner of the pronaos they were ambivalent signs about the existence of arch in two directions, which where creating even three working plans.

Az előcsarnok egyik sarkában a rom mindkét irányában kezdődő boltívekre utaló nyomokat találtunk, mely több lehetséges működő térformát hozhatott létre.

Családi ház Brassóban / Family house in Brașov Egyed János

For the C.A.S.A(house) competition we had to design a family house at a plot which had a great sight, in a semi-rural region. The site was selected because the city belongs to an important cultural heritage Romania, which in the past was a part of Austro-Hungarian empire. The population of Kronstadt(Crown city) was a mixture of nations, but mostly Germans, Tautens and Saxons which where defining the architecture of the city.

A C.A.S.A (Ház) pályázatra egy családi házat kellett tervezni, egy gyönyörű kilátással rendelkező telekre, mely Brassó külvárosában van. A környék Románia kultúrális örökségéhez tartozoik, amely része volt az egykori Osztrák-Magyar Monarhia határtelepüléseinek. Javarészt német telepesek lakták, teutonok illetve szászok. Nekik köszönhetően egy karakterisztikus városkép alakult ki, mely leginkább magastetősa hegyi viszonyoknak megfelelő formákat őltött.

A telek egy meredek, 45 fokos lejtőn helyezkedett el, így a legnehezebb része a tervezésnek, a ház funkciónalitása volt. Azt szerettem volna, ha a ház együtt tud élni ezzel a környezettel, és nem válik egy idegen implantummá.

Ezek után a ház aktívan használt részei a tetőtérben kaptak helyet, ahonnan a legjobb kilátás nyílik a környékre és a legmelegebb van (télen a kinti hőmérséklet elérheti a -35 fokot is) míg a hálószobák az első emeleten.

The hardest part of the design was to create viable house in that sloppy area, which is really functional. I didn’t wanted to create a big hole in the lean, more to create a house which molds the best with the given terrain and it fits to the characteristics of the zone.

With this approach, I made a house where every level had a terrace and the active, “warm area“ was on the top. The plot has a stunning sight over the city and I felt that is more important to benefit of this view, than reaching it easily. Especially of this I’ve created some ears for the house which were common in the area, just in different form.

Brasov’s extreme weather in wintertime made me to costumize the house wall anatomy and adding a suplimentary shell. It got a black shingle envelope, which gets warm fast, and makes the snow and ice melting fast, to avoid harming the building. With this envelope the buildings dillatation it wasn’t a proplem, so on it is molded in the landscape.

A vidék mostoha időjárása miatt, egy kemény zsindelyköpennyel képzeltem el a házat, mely a télen gyorsan leolvasztja magáról a havat és a jeget. A többi három évszakban, a sötét fa héj miatt beleolvad a tájba és a dillatációval kapcsolatos problémákat is könnyebben megoldja.
