The History of Mustique FROM PRINCESS MARGARET IN THE 60’S TO JAGGER, BOWIE AND MOSS IN THE NINETIES AND NAUGHTIES, MUSTIQUE IS THE ULTIMATE PARTY RETREAT. Lord Glenconner (Colin Tennant) discovered the island in 1958. Struck by its natural beauty and charm, even though the island had no water or other resources, he fell for the idea of romantic, bohemian life in the West Indies and bought it.

Plots were quickly snapped up by an eclectic group of socialites, rock stars and private individuals who flocked to the island from far and wide to create dream houses and be part of something unique.

The last fifty years has seen Mustique become one of the most sought after holiday destinations in the world. WEDDING DETAILS. Anyone can marry on Mustique.

The ceremony just needs to be performed by an official marriage officer, priest or minister registered in St Vincent & The Grenadines.

The bride and groom must be resident in SVG for one day before applying for a marriage licence. This application is made in person in St. Vincent, and will be co-ordinated by our team who will travel to the mainland with you.

Music & Culture

MUSIC IS THE VERY LIFEBLOOD OF MUSTIQUE. From the annual music events to the celebrities who frequent the island, you will never be far away from a rocking good time.

The Mustique annual Blues festival takes place every January/February at Basil’s Bar.

BASIL’S BAR. Basil’s Bar is a landmark destination on the island where generations of homeowners, guests, fishermen and passing yachts anchor, to watch the sun go down and enjoy the local vibe.

Basil may even be there to greet you and entertain you with tales of island life.
