Open house is a way for students to promote their clubs and activities for upcoming students and to practice their social skills in life. Students and families can go around campus to meet teachers, get to know the school more, and discover new clubs to join.
Mrs. positivity herself, Mrs. Foust’s ceramics program allows students to explore clay art, encouraging creativity and skill development through hands on building and wheel-throwing clay. She also offers an amazing opportunity called the Fine Arts Seal. Anyone involved in any artistic course and completing the requirements can be rewarded.
ROTC is a program designed to teach students leadership, discipline, & citizenship skills, offering military-based training, teamwork, and personal growth opportunities. It gives the students opportunities to be in the military after graduation and gives hands on experience.
Bring Change 2 Mind focuses on raising awareness on mental health, providing a safe space for all students to discuss mental health issues and support one another. Promoting a more understanding and compassionate school environment. Currently, students who struggle, are welcome to visit Ms. Steele for any comfort or help that they need. From school to needing help at home or just needing someone to listen.
Many students join our drama program to express their creativity, build confidence, and improve communication skills through preforming. They produce musicals and plays, giving students hands on experience with acting and technical theater. By having frequent rehearsals and delivering beautiful final performances, Drama gifts a space for personal growth and self expression through a welcoming community. Inside our choir program students get a chance to develop their vocal talents and creativity through various ensembles, such as Belcanto, Divae, and Cantus. The choir is led by student board members: President Kari-Lynn Campbell, Vice President Aurora Kimbrough-Smyth, Secretary Gustavo Ramirez, and Treasurer Samuel White (photographed). These choirs work hard to belt out meaningful pieces of music and create a harmony amongst one another through friendships that will last through the years.
The choirs have opportunities to travel, such as going to a D-backs game to sing the national anthem and traveling to California. Joining the most advanced choir, you have the chance to go to Flagstaff or competitions

This year Dobson introduced its first ever block schedule to the 20242025 school year. We divided from 7 classes a day to 4 classes a day, with a schedule of 8 classes. Here are some initial thoughts on this new schedule:
Kiley Andrada, a junior, says, “While I understand the intent of the block schedule, she discusses the effect on her catering culinary class. She’s now cooking less and this is hindering her ability to to learn how to cater for events.
Caitlyn Nichols, a junior, shares her disappointment of a lack of time to socialize. On the other hand, she accomplishes more in class.
Karla Cordero, a very impressive student here who’s enjoying the longer classes because she can accomplish more homework and time with her teachers.
Allison Martinez, a senior, jests that they may as well call our lunches breakfasts because of how early they are now served.
“I like it because I don’t have to walk around”
“It helps me to not procrastinate”
“Block scheduling took away zero hours and now I have to do summer school because Evit took up too many of my classes”
September 4, 2024 marks a day of heartbreak in America with yet another school shooting. Shattered families, devastated communities, and countless individuals making sense of a senseless act.
Mesa Public Schools have implemented several safety precautions to ensure a secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. Weapons detectors have been stationed at key entrance points which all students and visitors must walk through before they access campus. Staff and student IDs must be wore and visible at all times while on campus. To keep events and after school activities safe, a clear bag policy has been created to prevent any contraband or weapons being brought onto the school grounds. Unfortunately, schools in our district have seen an increase in threatening online activity which has caused many students, parents, staff, and community members to feel concern about being on campuses. Mesa Public Schools and Mesa PD are working closely together to investigate and address any threats of violence. Each instance has been taken seriously with immediate and strict consequences for anyone found making such threats. It is extremely important that individuals don’t repost any threats being made. It makes it extremely difficult for the police to catch who actually made and posted it on social media. If you see any thing online, please report it as soon as possible.

“Nineteen years after Harry, Ron, and Hermione saved the wizarding world, they're back on a most extraordinary new adventure-this time joined by a brave new generation that has only just arrived at the legendary Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. When Harry Potter's headstrong son Albus befriends the son of his fiercest rival, Draco Malfoy, it sparks an unbelievable new journey for them all with the power to change the past and future forever. Prepare for spectacular spells, a mind-blowing race through time, and an epic battle to stop mysterious forces, all while the future hangs in the balance.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (High School Edition) is a special adaptation of the beloved worldwide hit. Tailored for high school theatre productions, it provides young actors the opportunity to play Harry, Hermione, Ron, and all of their favorite characters on their very own stage and bring the wizarding world to life for their communities.
Your students will be empowered to conjure the magic through their own creativity, making it a truly exciting and engaging experience for students and audiences alike.”

To honor the United States Army, and thank those who courageously served our Nation, our gallant Dobson football team held American flags as a symbol of patriotism while ‘Star Spangled Banner’ echoed across the field.
Commemorating our home game ’ s half-time, the Dobson Band and Varsity Pom performed extraordinarily. Red, White and blue crowded our risers. With 4:13 on the clock, the Spartans led by 4 points, which concluded the game. Nonetheless, our Mustangs played with unparalleled pride!
