There's been heaps of great music from local acts like Lowtide, Roku Music, Cull, Flyying Colours, Fait, Luna Ghost, Dark Bells, Blush Response, Kigo, Skull Squadron, Contrast, Day Ravies and we've got The Black Ryder album to look forward to! Perhaps we are just hearing more of what was already there, because of the rise of Bandcamp and Soundcloud. I'm not sure.

Jimmy: I'd say Melbourne. It's a much prettier

and more organized city than Sydney and it embraces the arts. I'm from Sydney, so that's not easy to say! Historically speaking, both Brisbane and Melbourne have been known to have the strongest live music scenes. Melbourne is proud of its live institutions like the Corner Hotel, The Tote, Northcote Social Club and The Esplanade. A note to tourists though, in Australia we pay huge ticket prices (almost double what you'd pay in the USA). by: Matthew Bedford When he left his hometown of Naples for Barcelona, Marco Morgione had a goal in mind: to start up a label. Despite a strong artistic community and wonderful culture in Naples, the Catalan city appeared to oﬀer more possibilities and an atmosphere more conducive to fulfilling the promise he made to himself and his best friends (members of one of our favorites, Stella Diana). So in 1999, he ventured oﬀ and over eleven years gathered some valuable experience as a musician and a technician. It was in 2010 that Siete Señoritas Gritando was born. バルセロナに向かうために生まれ故郷のナポリから出た時、Marco Morgioneには一つの目標があった：

Barcelona turned out to provide just the sort of atmosphere Morgione needed to get the ball rolling, with its strong community of DIY labels, a wealth of graphic designers, and most importantly a really vibrant and diverse music scene. While some people in the city claim that the indie scene is in some sort of crisis, Morgione states that within the circle of label owners there is a passion and an optimism that better times will be coming. It is the sort of hopeless romanticism and love of music that would seem essential to running an indie label.

Debut Albums デビューアルバム Individually 2014 was an important year for many bands marking the moment to put out a sometimes long-awaited debut album. From Brazilian band Loomer who released You Wouldn’t Anyway at the end of 2013 to Mexico’s Vaya Futuro with Ideas a Medias released early this year, there have been many amazing debut albums that surely we will be reminded of in the future. Demographically the harvest has been well spread through the whole continent: Fotogramas’ Otoñal still sounds fresh even while winter is coming, and Adelaida´s Monolito stands still as never before. The band don't currently have much in the way of formal recordings outside of some tracks on a couple of compilations. Most recently the band submitted their track “Soft Focus” to local label Farmer & The Owl for their inaugural compilation Beached Friends. Listening to some of their older tracks the band’s music has a sort of noise-tinged indie-rock vibe to it, but “Soft Focus” is an all out shoegaze assault with a huge wall of guitars setting the tone from word go. The band recently just wrapped up a recording session in Bowral and an EP and an LP are definitely something we can start looking forward to. In the meantime, the band has some shows booked, notably as support for “local legends” Lowtide and Zeahorse. It’s been a busy year for Miners, but one that has seen the band take the shape necessary to begin progressing.
