Centennium
For Brass Band
Centennium was first written for Concert Band in 2023. The piece was composed for Lillestrøm School Band and their conductor Anders H. Halvorsen in celebration of the band’s 100th anniversary in 2023.
Centennium is based on a melodic theme that, throughout the work, changes character, tempo, time signatures, and harmony, surrounded by train signals. Lillestrøm got its train station as early as 1854, as part of the “Main Line” from Oslo to Eidsvoll, Norway’s first railway route. Lillestrøm is widely known as a “railway town,” and thus, the train signals not only illustrate the town’s identity but also symbolize the band’s journey through its first 100 years.
The transcription for brass band was written for Hetlevik Musikklag (Norway) for their participation at the Norwegian National Finals in 2025.
Durata: approx. 13’ 30”
