When Giving Is All We Have

We give because someone gave to us.

We give because nobody gave to us.

We give because giving has changed us.

We give because giving could have changed us...

Giving has many faces: It is loud and quiet, Big, though small, diamond in wood-nails...

Giving is, first and every time, hand to hand, Mine to yours, yours to mine.

You gave me blue and I gave you yellow.

Together we are simple green... together, we made Something greater from the difference.

About the Work Commissioned by the choirs of Eagan High School Premiered on May 28, 2019 in Eagan, MN Jim Cox, conductor About the Composer Emily Feld is a pianist, composer, and teacher. Her music has been performed by professional, community, and student ensembles throughout the country. She was awarded a composing mentorship with Carol Barnett through VocalEssence ReMix, and her music is published by Santa Barbara Music Publishing, MusicSpoke, and the Justice Choir Songbook. Emily graduated from Concordia College-Moorhead with a B.M. in Piano Performance.
