All Ye People Joy DeCoursey-Porter, text by Henry King (1592-1669)

Notes about the piece: Text Consonants will make or break this piece. The text moves quickly and might be better understood if more conventional vowel-lengthening techniques were replaced with a lengthening of certain consonants, giving the text a lilt and bounce, similar to that of an Irish brogue. The bass's text of "Hum(m)" is a quick pass through the vowel and onto the closed 'm'. Instruments *With a few minor changes implemented, the piccolo may be replaced effectively with a penny whistle, Irish flute, soprano recorder, or similar instrument. The percussion notation is by suggestion. If the general rhythmic suggestions are followed, the addition of other hand drums/ shakers is encouraged. Have fun!
