... we want to make our Museum a centre for social history, a place where people who are interested and excited about the past can come together to learn more about the rich and diverse story of Cambridge and its surroundings...

Those memories of histories unwritten Well-worn lives that shine behind your eyes...

Let every flooded fen flow from your lips and speak to me.

Museum of Cambridge Education Fund

Museum of Cambridge Education Fund The Museum of Cambridge is an independent Museum founded in 1936, making it one of the oldest social history museums in the UK. We occupy a former 17th century timber framed coaching inn in which we house a unique collection of over 20,000 items of local historical interest – from household objects, paintings and toys to Fenland folklore cures and customs.

Extracts from ‘Enid’ - a Poem by Leanne Moden, Design: Hilary Cox Condron, Print: Altone Ltd.

We use the building and collection to bring to life the stories of Cambridge people and places, offering ourselves as an educational resource for local school children, residents and researchers. We are also home to two major research projects – Capturing Cambridge and Tracing Traditions – and the Cambridge History Festival.

We need your support! As Cambridge expands we want to make our Museum a centre for social history, a place where people who are interested and excited about the past can come together to learn more about the rich and diverse story of Cambridge and its surroundings. Our Education Fund will be used to ensure that the social and domestic history of Cambridge is not lost.

You can help By contributing to our Education Fund with a monthly, annual or one-off donation, you will help us to sustain the Museum’s role as an important part of Cambridge’s cultural life, and to create and develop innovative projects and inspiring activities for the benefit of current and future generations.

Thank you
