ْ َّ ٰ ْ َّ ‫ْ ه‬ With the name of Alläh, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful ِ‫بِس ِم ّٰللاِالرْح ِنالرحِْي‬ Praise be to Alläh, the Lord of all the worlds, and blessings and peace be upon His noble Prophet.

Brethren in Isläm, As Saläm u Âlaikum wa Raḧ atulläh i wa Barakätuh!

A l l ä h s a y s i n t h e H o l y Q ur ' ä n : (I swear) by the Time, man is in a state of loss indeed, except those who believed and did righteous deeds, and exhorted each other to follow truth, and exhorted each other to observe paence. (103:1-3) You are the best Ummah ever raised for mankind. You bid the fair and forbid the unfair. (3:110) You are surely on an excellent standard of character. (68:4) O Believers, save yourselves and your families from Hell re. (66:6) O Believers, enter Islam completely, and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Surely, he is an open enemy for you. (2:208) (The Paradise-dwellers will) be asking about the guilty persons: “What has brought you to Saqar (Hell)?” They will say, “We were not among those who o ered S̈aläh, and we did not give food to the needy. (74:40-44) There is indeed a good model for you in the Messenger of Alläh. (33:21) Surely Salah restrains one from shameful and evil acts. (29:45) O Believers, turn to Alläh with a faithful repentance. (66:8)

My comfort has been provided in prayer. (Nasai: 3878) (The best deed is) to perform the (daily compulsory) prayers at their (early) stated fixed times. (Bukhärï: 6980) The first thing a slave (person) will be called to account from his deeds on the Day of Resurrection will be his S̈aläh. (Tirmizï: 378) I have been sent to take (the concept of) good character to the pinnacle. (Aḧmad: 8595) (A good deed in Isläm is:) greeting those whom you know and those whom you do not know. (Bukhärï: 11) O people! Spread (the greeting of) Salam, feed others, uphold the ties of kinship, and pray during the night when people are sleeping. As a result, you will enter Paradise with peace. (Ibn Mäjah: 3242) You shall not enter Paradise so long as you do not affirm belief (in all those things which are the articles of faith) and you will not believe as long as you do not love one another. Should I not direct you to a thing which, if you do, will foster love amongst you: (i. e.) give currency to (the practice of paying salutation to one another by saying) As Saläm u Âlaikum. (Muslim 81) (Alläh commanded the Prophet, and consequently his Ummah): to maintain relations with him who cuts it off, to forgive him who oppresses you, to gift him who deprives you. (Mishkät: 5358) Seeking knowledge is a duty upon every Muslim. (Ibn Mäjah: 220) The holy Prophet ‫ﺹﻝﻯ هللا ﻉﻝﻱﻩ ﻭﺱﻝﻥ‬asked the poor prisoners of the Battle of Badr who could not pay the ransom, to teach ten Helpers’ (native Muslims of Madïnah) children how to write, and thus get freed from captivity. (Aẗ T̈ abaqät by Ibn Sa`d 2/22) I stood at the gate of Paradise and saw that the majority of people who entered it were the poor, while the wealthy were stopped at the gate (for accounts). But, then the companions of the Fire were ordered to be taken to the Hell. Then I stood at the gate of the Hell and saw that the majority of those who entered it were women. (Bukhärï 4797) The poor will enter Paradise preceding the rich by five hundred years (which is) half of that day. (Tirmizï 2276) Show mercy to those who are on earth, He who is in the heaven will be merciful to you. (Tirmizï 1847) He is not a Believer who is satiated while his neighbor sleeps hungry in his backyard. (Baihaqï’s As Sunanul Kubrä 20160) A man keeps on asking others for something till he comes on the Day of Resurrection without any piece of flesh on his face. (Bukhärï 1381) If a person purchases a garment for ten dirhams where one of the dirhams is from a forbidden source, then Alläh will not accept his S̈aläh as long as the garment is over him. (Aḧmad 5473) Alläh, the Exalted and Glorious, would say on the day of Resurrection: O son of Adam, I was sick, hungry and thirsty but you did not care for Me. (The implication is that a particular servant of Alläh was facing the hardship.) If you had visited, fed or provided drink to him, you would have found Me there. (Source: Muslim 4661) The feet of the son of Adam will not move away from his Lord on the Day of Resurretion till he is asked five questions: how he spent his life, how he passed his youth, how he earned his wealth, how he spent it, and how much he acted upon his knowldege. (Tirmizï 2340) ◙ Recite Durüd Sharïf: Allähumma

s̈ alli âlä sayyidinä Muḧammadið was âlä äli sayyidinä Muḧammadið wa bärik wa ّٰ ‫ﻉَﻝﻯﺱَﻱِّﺩِ َﻥ ﺍ ﻡُﺡَ َّﻡ ٍﺩ َّﻭ‬ ّٰ ‫)ﺍَﻝ ّٰﻝّ ُﻩ َّﻡ ﺹَ ِّﻝ‬. sallim (‫ﻉَﻝﻯ ِﺁﻝﺱَﻱِّﺩِ َﻥﺍ ﻡُﺡَ َّﻡ ٍﺩ َّﻭ َﺏ ِﺍﺭﻙْ ﻭَﺱَﻝِّ ْﻡ‬

The Book Is̈läḧ e Muâ̈sharah wa Iz̈äla e Munkarät (Urdu, Telugu, English, Hindi) A survey was conducted in villages, towns and districts and its result turned out to be alarming. Only 20 % Muslims had some knowledge of, and thus had some concern for matters of belief, doctrine, S̈aläh, Fasting, Ḧaj and obligatory charity. This was the result of the strivings of pious people and of Tablïghï Jamäât. Thus this category was engaged in performing its duty towards Alläh. However, the other half of Islämic Dïn which comprises the duty towards Alläh’s servants has been completely ignored. This part includes moral values, social etiquettes, way of living, manner of conversation, transactions, jobs, duties towards parents, relatives, neighbors and the poor, service to humanity, duty towards non-Muslim brethren, friendship and contact with them, etc. But it appeared completely forgotten. In a similar vein, little effort has been made to carry out the obligation of forbidding the evils like alcohol consumption, gambling, unlawful copulation, interest-exaction, theft, dance, music, television, obscenity, dowry, etc. Consequently, the Muslim of the Qur'än and Ḧadïth is nowhere to be seen in the filed of life. So, this book points out the facets of life related to duties towards Alläh’s servants, where reform is urgently needed. It presents the Qur'än and the holy Prophet’s life as its model and also describes self-scrutiny and practical methods. Learned clerics of various schools of thought came together to compile this book. They sourced the materials from the translations and commentaries of the Qur'än, the books of Ḧadïth, history books, the Prophet’s biography, and the great works of the pioneers of different schools of thought. The aim was to unite the different sections of the Ummah. The book also contains valuable comments from the elders and leaders of Jamî̈yat Ûlamä e Hind, Ahl e Sunnat wal Jamäât, Majlis e Itteḧädul Muslimïn, Tablïghï Jamäât, Ahl e Ḧadïth (Salafïs), Jamäât e Islämï and All India Muslim Personal Law Board, as also of other noble clerics and scholars.

Here is an overview of the main topics: How was the holy Prophet?: includes his physical appearance, life-story, character, morality, and his being the perfect example. Matters of belief, doctrine and worship in the light of the Qur'än and the Sunnah. (Details and methodologies have been skipped to keep away from conflicting opinions.)  Regular offering of the five daily S̈alähs, and trying to achieve the strength of Friday S̈alähs in these prayers at mosques (through “Populate the Mosque” scheme) Morality and Etiquettes of the holy Prophet: The benefits of adopting his noble Sunnah (customs) like prevention and cure of diseases and other medical benefits have been described. The etiquettes of life have been explained using diagrams. Light has been shed upon duties towards parents, relatives, neighbors, the poor, and upon the issues of transactions, lawful earning and service to Alläh’s servants. Readers have been encouraged to take up Islämic and government-prescribed education so that the Ummah becomes cent per cent literate. The ْ َ‫ َﻉﻝ‬, the machinations of Iblïs (the archenemy of reality of the world, the creation of Ädam ‫ﻱ ﻩِ ﺍﻝﺱ َ​ََّل ُﻡ‬ mankind), general information regarding human creation and the universe, the Prophet’s medical science, the secret of health and cure of diseases, etc. Keeping away from and forbidding evils like theft, bribery, alcohol consumption, unlawful copulation, interest-exaction, dowry (ghorä-jorä), watching cinema, television, murder, suicide, etc. To instill fear and repulsion for these evils, the punishments prescribed in the Indian Law and the Islämic Sharïâh have been stated. The wealthy have been advised to donate a third of their capital, plots, estates, houses, vehicles, etc. to the academic, medical and welfare-oriented institutions to be run by the local cadre. The following projects have been planned for the purpose: Establishment of family societies: to provide for education, marriage and employment of poor members of one’s extended family  Establishment of marriage centers: to provide a package of ₹6,000 or 10,000 for marriage of poor girls who are regular offerers of S̈aläh and fasting. Establishment of Muslim Finance Centers: to provide interest-free credit to regular S̈aläh-offerers Conducting medical and technical training courses for Â̈lims and Ḧäfiz̈ s to facilitate employment and business for them Populating mosques and establishing Baitul Mäl (Islämic treasury) to facilitate it by providing loans to needy S̈aläh-offerers in the vicinity of each mosque Conducting morning classes for Qur'änic and moral lessons at mosques with provision of breakfast and/or monthly ration for the students Establishment of Qur'än research centers to guide the people in understanding the Qur'än through various translations and commentaries, and to guide them in science and technology Providing for the expenses of Servant Committees and their Commanders at the levels of sub-divisions and districts.

For Children and Youths: Moral training of students and youths of Islämic madrasahs through “Children! What do you plan to become” program, to brighten their future prospects Reformation of Women: Reformation, education and training of Dïn-ignorant, educationally and financially backward women: Elderly female teachers accompanied by a Maḧram (a male familymember) will make daily visits to residential houses and markets to teach the Qur'än, moral values, etiquettes of life, Islämic manners, way of living, S̈aläh with practical demonstration, and keeping away from evils.

Note: Honorable clerics and intellectuals have recommended that this book be read and taught at homes, mosques, madrasahs, schools, colleges, etc.

Morning Mosque School Course (with breakfast, Urdu- Telugu- English- and Hindi-media) To help keep the Muslim children steadfast on Isläm and to protect them from straying later in life, the following curriculum has been designed: “Who is a Muslim?”; Introduction to the holy Qur'än; Worship; Life and manners of the holy Prophet; Etiquettes of life (with diagrams); Duties towards parents, neighbors and relations; Lawful earning; Transactions; Service to the poor; Chart for religious and government-prescribed education; Hagiography and description of the noble character of the holy Companions, Imäms, Ḧadïth-scholars and saints; Keeping away from and forbidding evils; Islämic history; Islämic calendar; Arabic and Telugu grammar.

It will be a two-year course for elders and three-year course for children. It will be conducted at mosques as Morning Classes with provision of breakfast. Clerics of Därul Ûloom, Hyderabad, Jamäât e Ahl e Sunnat, Jamäât e Islämï, Deobandï and Salafï madrasahs have recommended following this curriculum at religious and government schools.

To report the activities and practical achievements of Jamäât e Is̈ läḧ e Muâ̈sharah wa Iz̈ äla e Munkarät, this fortnightly journal is regularly published. It has Urdu, English and Telugu sections. It is meant to cover the organizational activities and to strengthen contacts with the mainstream electronic and print media. It conducts publicity programs for achieving a society based on morality and reformation. Interviews with honest, generous and humane persons of renown, with an introduction to their personality and achievements are also published.

Aims and Objectives of Jamäât e Is̈ läḧ e Muâ̈sharah wa Iz̈äla e Munkarät

The foundation for Jamäât e Is̈ läḧ e Muâ̈sharah wa Izäla e Munkarät (Movement for Social Reform and Evil Eradication) was laid in 2008 with the purpose of putting the Dïn into practice, preserving the Dïn and carrying out individual efforts along with collective struggles to reform the society and to practically eradicate evils. It has the following aims and objectives: Building character and morality among Muslims with respect to good manners and etiquettes of life, and honoring rights and duties in transactions Scheme to make cent per cent Muslims regular prayerofferers (Namäz̈ ïs) such that the strength of prayer-offerers in Fajr, Z̈ uhr, Âs̈ r, Maghrib and Îshä equals those in Jumâh. Ensuring literacy among cent per cent Muslims, covering Islämic as well as governmental education and science and technology educationPromoting exemplary generosity in the form of giving away onethird of one's wealth, and thus eradicating poverty Refraining and making others refrain from evils like drinking, stealing, bribery, interest-exaction, unlawful copulation, television-watching, obscenity, dowry, murder and robbery Serving mankind on a daily basis without distinction of religion and community Reformatory Jamäât trips: Come on trips of 3, 10, 30, or 100 days for disseminating knowledge, and providing training and encouragement for S̈aläh (Namäz̈ ), good manners, etiquettes of day-to-day life, human service, generosity, forbidding evils, serving at mosques, repentance, seeking Alläh's forgiveness, and reformation of oneself and of others.

Family society Establishment of marriage centers Islämic Finance for providing interest-free credit Employment courses for Ḧäfiz̈ s and Â̈lims Populating mosques Establishing Bait-ul Mäl (Islämic Treasury) Morning schools with provision of breakfast Forming (Alläh’s) Servants’ Committees in mandals, towns and districts by appointing Â̈lims and Ḧäfiz̈ s.

Financial contribution: The movement appeals to the well-off people of sub-divisions, towns and districts to make monthly or annual contributions so that the expenses for local committees may be met.

App e a l: All learned men, leaders and orators are requested to put more emphasis upon moral

values, etiquettes, human service and duties towards Alläh’s servants along with S̈aläh, fasting and other worships, in their public speeches and in public meetings. They should clarify the harms and damages caused in this world and in the Hereafter by evils like unlawful copulation, alcohol consumption, bribery, interest-exaction, theft, watching television, demanding dowry and other evils. Youths, businessmen, unemployed men, well-off people, doctors, engineers and leaders should participate in reformatory Jamäât trips and help in organizing such trips, so that the society may be reformed and evils may be eradicated. They are requested to contribute with their own time in these trips and they may also bear the expenses of other people going out in such trips. The purpose is to carry out education and training of the locals and to promote the practice of S̈aläh, morality, day-to-day Sunnah of the Prophet and to serve the mosques.

Me m b er sh i p Dr i ve: Â̈lims, Ḧäfiz̈ s, mosque imäms, presidents and secretaries of mosque managing committees, journalists, intellectuals, well-off people, advocates, doctors, engineers, officers, leaders, etc. are requested to become members of this noble movement. Members of other Jamäâts and religious organizations, and political leaders may also become members and facilitate mutual cooperation in the aforementioned tasks. Other men and women should also become members.

May Alläh guide us towards action and towards the straight path. May our end be in a state of Faith. Ämïn!
