We at murmur saw Mica Millar perform on International Women’s Day 2017 and were blown away by the power and beauty of her voice. Mica Millar is launching her new single, The Defender, supported by an all-women backing quartet, string section and four-piece band. £11.25, 7.30pm - 11.45pm

7 April Cath & Phil Tyler @Eagle Inn

11 April Grey Lantern presents: Eric Chenaux @ Portico Library

Paris-based guitarist, composer and singer Chenaux has been an active player in Toronto experimental music circles. 7 April Staying Out: Manchester @ Partisan Collective Upstairs

Thirty years since a legislation was passed that prohibited the ‘promotion’ of homosexuality in schools and other state funded organisations in the UK - Section 28. This inhumane law had a devastating impact on the lives of queers of all ages. Vehement public activism has finally succeeded for it to be repealed in Scotland in 2001, and in England and Walesand in 2003. Join us to commemorate our shared history and unbreakable kinship, to celebrate in unity. £5 donation to benefit the Proud Trust. 8pm - midnight

12 April Paper Marbling & Book Making @ Partisan Collective

During this workshop run by Darn It you’ll create unique swirling patterns with brightly coloured marbling inks on a variety of papers and cards. These will act as a cover for a hand bound book, we’ll be using Japanese stab binding techniques to create books with a variety of decorative stitching. 27 April That Sinking Feeling Preview @ Blankley Studios

A collaborative installation by ARM Navid Asghari, David Rogerson, James Moss - that dives into the soup of our current predicament. An exploration of reality, the pursuit of progress, and our emotional state. W O R D @ Anthony Burgess Foundaton Using research from the AHRC-funded Remembering 1960s British Cinemagoing project, UCL Historian Dr Patrick Glen is hosting a showing of Andy Warhol’s 1965 adaptation of A Clockwork Orange, Vinyl. The film will be introduced with a short talk about cinema-going in the 1960s that explains Dr Glen’s findings about underground and counter-cultural cinema-goers. After the film, those who remember

going to the cinema in the 1960s will be asked to share their memories. L E A R N Can You Hear Me Now? is a music zine that gives women a voice. Issue 2 is about making a change for the better for all people in the music zine.
