İzmit Pişmaniyesi Pişmaniye ilk kez Kocaeli’nin Kandıra ilçesinde bir sekerci tarafından bulunmuş ve imal edilmiştir. Üretimin devamı ise Kandıra esnafından Haci Agop isimli bir ermeni tarafından olmuştur. Pişmaniye kente özgü bir tatlı türü olarak ün kazanmıştır. Yolculuklarda İzmit’ten geçenleri önce pişmaniye satıcıları karşılar. Kutular içinde ak pamuk görünümü veren bu tatlı ilin simgesi gibidir. The Turkish fairy floss was discovered and produced for the first time by a candy maker in the township of Kandıra in the province. And after that, the production was continued by a Turkish Armenian called Haci Agop. The Turkish Fairy Floss has become famous as a unique product for the province. The travelers who pass through the province are welcomed by the sellers of the Turkish fairy floss. This sweet which has an appearance of white cotton in the boxes is sort of a symbol of the province. It is also one of the foodstuffs of the local festivals and celebrations. By virtue of its unique taste and its lightness, it is a sweet which is needed at other places, and it attracts attention, as well.
