The P70 is a modular residential structure designed to be built in two parts at the factory. These parts are then shipped to the site, where they are connected and installed on helical piles or a concrete foundation. Each part can also be installed as a single unit, classified as an ‘Additional Dwelling Unit,’ and placed in the backyard of an existing home, depending on local bylaws. This unit was designed in accordance with OBC and CSA A277 standards.

FORM DEVELOPMENT
50X10mm MS flat handrail 12mm dia MS rod as ballustrade
12X5mm flat with countersunk to fix natural teak louvres welded to 20x40mm MS box
12X40mm PU finished nautral teakwood louvred screening
The resultant form is derived upon by using principles of operative design based on the context of the site. Considering the dimensional restrictions of the site, the massing was done taking into account various privacy factors. As dictated by the hot and humid weather of the region, the size of the various openings are generally small and recessed for weather protection with provision for screening as an additional weather and privacy buffers. Materials planned for the construction are all locally sourced and help keep the building cool during peek summers.
Project Responsibilities:
• Formulating a design brief with the client & providing various zoning options that utilize the existing space in the best way possible.
• Preparing massing models with various iterations to design a building that integrates with the residential neighborhood around.

The café was conceptualized to bring together the two faces of Paris – the classical and the industrial. The constant contrast of warm wood and cold metal used throughout the café uniformly bridges together the two styles. The mezzanine offers a view to louvered windows fixed to the wall in a faux setting that adds to the Parisian theme. The suspended light bulbs offers an illusion of ‘floating lights’, which was inspired from the photo-bleaching effect. This transforms the café during the evening hours adding to its ambience.
