The Multicultural Music Group Celebrates

Migration and Food through Jazz Music

The MMG is hosting a live music performance by saxophonist Berta Moreno on Friday, January 27, at the Caravan of Dreams restaurant in Lower Manhattan. This event, starting at 6:30 p.m., is a feast for the senses as it will explore the relationship between food, migration, and music under the name “Tasting Movement ”

Saxophone player Berta Moreno is an award-winning jazz musician, composer, songwriter, and bandleader from Spain, dedicated to envisioning and creating music projects that promote beauty, self-empowerment, creativity, and human connection

Her work blends contemporary jazz, Afro-Latin music, and improvisation, among other styles

“We are very excited to be partnering with Berta and Caravan of Dreams. The history of our organization is one of commitment to being empathetic through music, and cognizant of the value of solidarity to understand significant historical events. This time we ’ re honoring movement, migration, and the foods that represent those transits, along with Berta’s talent. We’re sure that it will be a blast for everyone in attendance,” said Wilfredo Burgos-Matos, the MMG community outreach coordinator.

The event jumpstarts the collaboration with the Association for a Better New York (ABNY) and recognizes the continued support of other organizations, such as the New York State Council on the Arts, New York City’s Department of Cultural Affairs, and WQXR’s Airlift Project.
