We’re throwing a vibrant, free celebration of multicultural creativity honouring the artists, communities, and culture-shapers who make our city thrive. BLOCK PARTEE marks an exciting new chapter at our new headquarters, and you’re at the heart of it.
This family friendly event will feature both indoor and outdoor activities with live music, workshops, artisan stalls, food trucks, creative speed dating, live podcast recording, art exhibitions and film screenings.
• The event is in Melbourne Polytechnic Preston Campus. The outdoor programming will take place in the Student Carpark, the surface is largely tarmac with Green Spaces skirting the sides of the carpark. The Green Spaces have uneven surfaces, but there is a paved footpath through the Green Space.


• The Indoor programming will be located in Building F, the entrance of Building F is pictured below. There will be a live podcast recording, creative speed dating, the quiet space, spoken word, film screening, art exhibition and zine stalls

• Live music will be interpreted by an Auslan interpreter, at the side of the stage. There will be some seats available just for Deaf community audience members.

• There will be a stage with singers and amplified bands. This area will be loud when people are performing. There may be crowds when people are performing
• Sometimes it might be noisy, but there will be a Safe Space/Quiet Place where you can find some quiet time away from the stage. This quiet space will be in Room 143 in Building F adjacent to the event site. There will be signage and you can ask MAV staff or volunteers if you need help to locate it.

• You can bring a Companion or Guide Dog to the event. If your dog needs to go to the toilet there will be grass areas available next to the festival area.
• The event is Wheelchair Accessible

• This event is smoke, vape and alcohol free


• The closest disabled parking is located at Preston Market, and there are also some located on Cramer St

• If I you need assistance, there will be staff and volunteers wearing MAV t-shirts, hiviz vests and lanyards there to help you. The MAV t-shirt will feature the event visual ID which looks like the below image:

• There are x2 all-gendered disable portable toilets located outside, with another accessible toilet located inside Building F which is also equipped with a ceiling hoist. There are additional gendered toilet blocks located inside Building F.


• There are a number of Public Transport options to the event site, we are located a short walk from Preston Train Station.

• The closest Prayer Room is located in Building E, which is next to Building F where the indoor programming is taking place. The prayer room is located on the second floor in Room E119 and there is elevator access.

• There will be food you can purchase at the event. It will be close to the stage so there may be strong food smells.

• There will be a hydration station with both bubblers and taps, we recommend bringing your reusable water bottle

• There will always be a first aid medic at the event during the event hours

• Unfortunately there are no Baby change facilities at the event site
