MU LAMBDA CHAPTER

Message from the Editor Greeting Brothers, Summer is nearing an end, and I thought the only thing we had to worry about this summer was the heat. All I have seen are more police shootings and insane individuals walking into public areas and killing innocent people. How long? How many times? When will the narrative change about what is going on in AMERICA? Will the hate end if 45 is gone from office. Have we awakened the suppressed feeling of boiling hate that has been waiting for this moment in time to explode? Can we recover?

BRO. KENNETH A. WILLIAMS EDITOR OF THE TORCH torch@mulambda.org ALPHA QUOTE TO SERVE BY... “THINK Alpha Phi Alpha, TALK Alpha Phi Alpha, PROMOTE Alpha Phi Alpha, and LABOR for the broad principles of idealism for which Alpha Phi Alpha was created, so that humanity shall look on us as a body worthwhile.” Brother Henry L. Dickason, 6th General President

America has failed, in my eyes, to stand up to its ideals and promises. Or maybe that only applies to Americans with dark skin. We have lost our way and place value on things that have no substance. We have given up on family and decided to be a single parent is better, yet when most can’t afford to live on one income. Are black people their biggest problem then our local, state, or federal government? I believe we have participated in the self-destruction campaign aimed at dividing and conquering black power, black pride, black love, black wealth, etc. We are at war, and the battlefield is Capitol Hill! Brothers, “Rest if you must but Don’t you quit!” I leave my brothers with this quote below. “We declare our right on this earth...to be a human being, to be respected as a human being, to be given the rights of a human being in this society, on this earth, in this day, which we intend to bring into existence by any means necessary.” - Malcolm X
