Breezy, released in 1973 is the movie where she acted her best in the title role. It was this movie that fetched her nomination as the ‘Most Promising Female Newcomer’. She also acted in the 1986 movie ‘House’. Her acting in television series included ‘Reasonable Doubts’ (1991-93) and ‘Midnight Caller’ (1988-89). Her role in Midnight Caller episode ‘After It Happened’ helped her to win the Primetime Emmy Award in a ‘Drama Series’ for ‘Outstanding Guest Actress’.

Her early years

She was born actor-producer Ted Lenz and Kay Miller in Los Angeles. Her mother was a professional model and radio engineer. She first appeared in her father’s program where she was held by a guest. It was her television debut.

Her career

She started her acting career during her childhood. When she turned 14, she appeared in ‘This is Life’ in three episodes. Later she appeared in TV shows like ‘Andy Griffith Show’ and stage productions as ‘Kay Ann Kemper’, her stage name. Under this name, she acted in 1973’s series ‘American Graffiti’. Her title-role performance in it earned her country-wide recognition. Clint Eastwood directed the movie ’Breezy’ where she acted as a free spirit, captivating William Holden.

She also made guest appearances in Gunsmoke, Streets of San-Francisco, McCloud, MacGyver, Petrocelli and Cannon. She got the lead role in the 1975 movie ‘White Line Fever’. The next year, she was casted in ‘Rich Man, Poor Man’ miniseries and received Emmy Award nomination. She appeared from First season of ‘Albert Brooks’ movie, Saturday Night Live’s fourth episode in the parody, ‘Three of Us’. For the 1977 sequel movie, ‘Rich Man, Poor Man – Book II’, she had reprised her role. She acted in guest roles in several TV series since the 1980s. She appeared for ‘Infatuation’ a music video by Rod Stewart in 1984. In 1989, Midnight Caller earned her the Primetime Emmy Award. Her role in ‘Reasonable Doubts’ saw her acting as Maggie Zombro, the flinty lawyer. For this movie she received Primetime Emmy Awards nominations twice.

Her personal life
