The main spine

This project aims to bridge the the gap between theoretical and practical learning of filmmaking To enhance the film industry to produce great movies by building advanced film studios with new technologies The project focuses on designing a film studio and creating spaces that facilitate experiential learning. A mixed-use program is introduced with studios and theaters that create a self-sustaining complex and thereby improve the Indian film industry in terms of creative thinking and technical knowledge.

It also aims at generating interest in the community about the Indian film Industry.

Film sets are introduced to facilitate the production of films and are provided with functions that deal with different aspects of film-making like production and shooting studios, audio and video recording theatres and post-production editing studios.

The studio is designed in a way that is flexible in nature and can be converted into a multipurpose hall just by removing the partition.

The major mistake in all my case studies is that the space for the studio and Institute is separated. This will cause less interaction between students with filmmakers To avoid this the design is developed in such a way that the interaction between the filmmakers and students can be eased thus providing opportunities for the young talent to practice and industry ready when they finish their course.

The experience center is designed to emphasize the works of the artists and students to display their works to visitors and the public.

The project brief was to design a housing community for the economically weaker section (EWS) located in Nungambakkam, Chennai Primarily, the residents were facing the problems such as heaps of garbage being dumped in between the buildings creating an environmental hazard, the existing buildings not providing enough ventilation resulting in a lack of quantity of fresh air also the housing unit design did not provide a sufficient space.

The design solution mainly focuses on ventilation, the stack effect, the orientation of the building, and expand the housing units. And emphasize the housing units to expand the space.

The brief was to design a Primary school of area (13207 sq.m) Pre kg - 5 the std. with a maximum of 180 students, locaed in Nolambur, Chennai The purposeful design of campuses, buildings, social spaces and classrooms can facilitate deeper learning, greater social connectivity and a more discernible connection between the culture of a school and its architecture The design focuses on Increased diversity of learning experiences, Enhanced social connectivity, Improved emotional resilience and attendance, Positive influence on pedagogy and study programs, Energy savings, Increased desirability and enrollments.

The design focuses on the development of skills and knowledge of the Students by providing more open spaces and places were they can learn through the experience of touch, feel, smell etc.., The alignment of classrooms differs from one and another thus experiencing different perceptive of the world through each spaces offering various learning environment for the students.

TRANSIT ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT

The Chennai Mass Rapid Transit system, a state-owned subsidiary of Indian Railways, is a metropolitan elevated railway line in Chennai, India.

Operated by Southern Railways, it is the first elevated railway line in India and also the country’s longest elevated corridor spanning 17 km.

This line runs mainly along the stretch of Buckingham canal edges thus polluting and contaminating its surroundings, the salt water canal is unable to use in such conditions for the public and neighbourhood.

Existing structure

Canal widening & dredging

The design mainly focuses on Transit Oriented Development (TOD) without polluting or contaminating the Buckingham canal, canal edges and its neighbouring environment.

The design solution helps to ensure and create a new integrated transit system over the existing system also elevating the transit station to the road/ ground level for easy accessibility and better connectivity.

INTERNATIONAL REVIEW

In collaboration with RVS Chennai and NIVASA we helped the organisation to build a sustaiable neighborhoods of Gudibande, Karnataka. A house built with an innate knowledge of climate, and human activities, like the intimate front yard, and socio-economic activities, tends to push the entire settlements towards well-conceived and well-planned rural neighbourhoods.

Ivar Krasinski is a founding partner and the design director of Edge, A boutique consultancy specialising in architectural, planning and interior design in Dubai.

Reviewed our designs and commented on them, it was a great experience to discuss design ideology and the evolution of design through various factors and methods through economically and sustainable.

BAMBOO WORKSHOP (HIMACHAL)

CHILD AND THE CITY (KOCHI)

Bamboo as a primary material for construction in collaboration with RVS Chennai and CIBART (Center for Indian Bamboo Resource and Technology) a non-governmental organization, taught us the importance of bamboo as a building material, techniques to use, possibilities and limitations of bamboo. Two bamboo artisans employed out of 1024 people on a full-time basis, taught us how to craft bamboo as a sustainable material in construction.

Students from Asian school of Architecture Design Innovation and RVS Padmavathy School of Architecture were split into groups and each group visited their respective site that is one among the major streets of Gandhi Nagar.
