HOBIES & INTERESTS

Drawing / Illustration / Graphic Design / Art

I lived in two architecturally rich cities, Konya and Istanbul in Turkey. And I learned from them that achitecture should adapt to existing old and new cultures.

I like the simple and clever ideas. Focusing on an important element and making it bigger is my architectural goal. I hope this portfolio represents this kind of ideas.

‘Less is more’, if you can make it huge.

‘DEVIRGEN’

DIALOGUE

2019 Unkapanı/Istanbul - TURKEY

Devirgen’s mean is in Turkish; “functioning, moving, motion, revolution”

The aim of the project is creating an example of an architecture workshop area. Pleces is in cultural heritage neirboorhood and it is under risk of the deconstruction. Project offers some new places to not only neirboorhood like bazaar area, free information center for urban transformation and restoration but also reserchers and other interested people such as library, reserch centers. With the help of support units and events that attract the public’s attention, involve users in all phases of production such as finding a problem, producing a solution, demanding and creating a sense of belonging. The main idea is make people more comfortable to use with daily activities and bring together diffirent people in new public fonctions. In that way, both side could be learn from eachother to create more productive projects and sustainable cities in terms of culture and history.

The main element of project is bazaar area and its moving roof system. This mobility refers to ‘devirgen dialog’ of the project. Diffirent kind of people can use that area for diffirent aims together.

D’arco/Mantova - ITALY

The idea of the project born from preserving the integrity of the monumental landmarks of the context, in order to conceive the urban scale and enhance the pre-existance of the place, such as the historic Palazzo D’arco. The meeting point of the two important axis, coming from the historical center of Mantua and the station an urban vaid is established, is heart of the project itself. The main part of the building is buried and surmounted by a very light cooper roof which creates continuous games of light and shadow in the interior space of the square. Another fundamental aspect of the design is the choice to make an opposite dialogue between the rigid element on the surface and the organic underground square. It’s possible to notice how the first element (the roof) follows the surrounding urban context and the second one (the square) gives totally diffirent perseptions creating a new special environment for the city of Mantua.

Plan organization is based on a targented circles and colomn design follows the pillar of the Palazzo D’Arco’s facade and is placed inside of the square.

2023 San Cristoforo Church

An alternative photography museum design. Our first goal was to combine the green areas of the church and connect it with the green areas in the city. For this reason, we took the exhibition rotation, which is the basic principle of museology, as the basic idea. We designed a corridor with various alternatives that will connect the two ends of the garden.

Thanks to the long ramps connecting the two ends of the corridor, an exhibition path was created that also comprised the photography exhibition. A pavilion with public columns was formed in the part covering this underground path. The most basic element that shapes this pavilion is the columnar architecture, which is frequently used in the architectural texture of the city and in monasteries.

We designed a mechanism to showcase photos that supplement the core idea of the project. This mechanism is located at the edge of the pavilion and allows photographs to be exhibited sometimes underground and sometimes above ground. In addition, rainwater that will leak through the holes in the ground is transmitted to the concrete wall surface in a controlled manner, creating a kind of texture behind the photographs.

2021 Piazza Fiume/Rome - ITALY

The aim of the project is to integrate the Golden Compas statue, which was donated to the La Rinascente building located in Piazza Fiume, whose architects are Franco Albini and Franca Helg, together with the landscaping.

The main idea is to design a seating area by replicating Rinascente’s uniq facade. This seating area is accompanied by a pool of water that reflects the Golden Compass. When placing the sculpture; desired and undesirable places to be seen were determined based on eye contact. Then, using the dimensions of the glass facade on the side facade as a parameter, Golden Compass was placed at an angle.

2023 Tivoli/Rome - ITALY

The project was completed at the Prinessi Prix de Rome Workshop. Our first goal was to design a protective, eye-catching architectural display element to be used in ancient open-air museums. When we started the project, we made sure that it was as easy to produce, repeatable and usable in various variations as possible. Starting from a display box, we transformed it into an architecture that can be entered, and the basic architectural archetype became our guide in this design.

We used the highly durable construction site scaffolding system as material. While we provided weight with the local material travertine on the floor, we prevented unnecessary load by using textile on the roof.
