Welcome Gators!!

Another exciting year ahead with 6 senior teams (4 mens and 2 womens) along with our Vets and Junior programs - we are looking forward to pushing ahead as a club following our strong season last year!

With Coach Shaun bringing together a solid coaching plan that has reaped rewards during the off-season, our One Club mentality looks set to benefit across all levels and teams

We have a strong committee who have been working tirelessly across the off season getting the club ready for the year ahead, preparing some great initiatives and plans together

Remember, celebrate every small win, every small achievement, every small moment that

Well here we go again! How good is it to be back at the Swamp!

Preseason has been nothing but fantastic Everyone who’s come down has put in the work, and it really showed in our practice match against Healesville CC. The skills, fitness, and energy on display gave us a real glimpse of what’s to come this season

There’s a real buzz around the club at the moment. With our top three teams all playing finals last year, the hunger is there to go even deeper this season Every side

h all a missed the big ones, and if you aren't having fun you are doing something wrong

My door is always open and my phone is always on come catch up and join the family down the Swamp

Chop

is looking to make a massive impact across the competition and continue building on the success we’ve had

Fitness has been a big focus, with the introduction of our new 1km time trials Credit to everyone the buy-in has been outstanding. Players have set themselves personal goals, pushed each other at training, and it’s clear to see the benefits as we move closer to the season

Another highlight of preseason has been the atmosphere at training. Whether it’s the banter, the encouragement, or the laughs shared after a tough session, there’s been an even stronger sense of family feel at our great club! We’ve also been lucky enough to welcome a few new players into the club, which only adds to the energy and creates some healthy competition for spots when it comes to selection. That sort of environment is exactly what helps players develop and keeps the club moving forward

All in all, it’s been an awesome start to the year. Preseason has set the tone, the players are buzzing, and the Swamp is ready to fire Bring on Round One this season is shaping up to be a huge one!

LETS GO!

CAPTAINKEV

Here we are for another season. As we approach the first round of the season, I just want to thank the committee in trusting me to lead the 1XI once again This is an honor that I hold deep in my time at the club and am looking forward to what this season brings

As a club, in the pre season training is it great to see the numbers each week. It shows that everyone has bought in to Shaun’s plan, and really great to see we continue to grow not only on the men’s side of things, but also the women’s Numbers have been strong at indoor training and keep getting more as footy season wraps up, so competition for spots will be at a premium

I cannot wait to get into this season, having been in the Preliminary Final for the last two seasons, and last season we gave ourselves the best opportunity as a team for success Whilst on the day the result didn’t go our way, we as a team are more determined than ever to take that next step forward together

Here’s to another successful season, let’s bring home the flag!!

CAPTAINGA

Hey my Gator fam,

Super excited to have the privilege to captain the ladies 1XI once again this season as we look to hopefully go all the way!

I’m very grateful to be able to work alongside JD, Foss and Gordan and learn from the best. we also have two wonderful co vice-captains this year in our 1XI in Miah and Sandi, so i am looking forward to working closely alongside them!

This season our 2XI have merged with SKLPS, which is very exciting and a great way for our ladies to further develop their skills and most importantly make new friends! we also have a few new additions to the squad this season which is always very exciting

I love the direction the club is going in and the fab club culture we have been able to build not many clubs are able to say that their women and men’s programs are integrated like ours, so we are super lucky!

I’m very grateful for everyone who helps us out and gives up their time on game days and at trainings, it definitely doesn’t go unnoticed hopefully we can go all the way this year and have some fun!!

Lots of love and Gator on!!

Mountain Gate’s 3 XI sit atop the pile after last season’s Community 4 standings, with a minor Premiership converted into a Premiership against Knoxfield

In a 9-win Home and Away season, the Gators finished nearly 2 matches clear of Knoxfield, with a Semi Final appearance against St Johns Tecoma converted into a 5-wicket victory The Final against the Knights was a match well in the balance, with bowlers holding sway. However it was Mother Nature who delivered the final blow, securing the season honors for the Gators after a dominate year.

The result now sees the 3 XI jump into Community 3 for the 2025/26 season, kicking off the Premiership campaign against Eildon Park at Windermere on 4 October Another one day match follows against Belgrave, before the first of the two-day matches in a Community 4 Grand Final rematch against Knoxfield at Windermere Reserve on 18-25 October

After the Cup weekend off, Upper FTG plays host to the Gators on 8-15 November, before Mountain Gate host Belgrave the next fortnight at Windermere

Eildon Park kicks off December, welcoming the Gators to Eildon Park Reserve on 6-13 December, prior to Upwey hosting Mountain Gate at Silvan to close off 2025

The 3 XI comes back following the VMCU Carnival, with the first ball in anger to be bowled against Upper FTG at Windermere Reserve on 17 January.

A high-scoring one day match is assured as the Gators venture to Knoxfield’s Benedikt Reserve on 24 January, before a two-day fixture against Upwey at WIndermere Reserve

The season reaches fever-pitch on Valentines Day with a fornight at Menzies Creek against Belgrave, before finishing the season as it started - a one day match against Eildon Park at Windermere Reserve

It will be a mixture of youth and experience with the bat in hand, as Mark Lieversz (296 runs @ 4933) and Ryan Stapleton (237 @ 2936) proved last season

Lieversz provided a consistent contribution to the scoresheet, with 4 scores over 40 including a half-century against Knox Gardens Meanwhile, Stapleton continues along his development pathway, emphasised by two headline halfcentury performances against Olinda (69) and Belgrave (52) amongst elevations into the 2 XI. nd

With the ball, Matthew Carter continues to gain in height, speed and skill with every passing day, having claimed the 3 XI Bowling Award for Season 2024/25 with 11 wickets at a paltry 12.55.

Carter’s highlight will no doubt be the matchup against St Johns Tecoma, sending down 14 overs for a maiden 5/24
