AMOR' and, upon researching the products available, they identified the many pitfalls of these products - such as metal housings, glass lens, seals, external driver boxes and old technology light sources. They came to the conclusion that none of these existing products were suitable for the environment in which they were intended to be used. Whilst Grant Amor designed and constructed an efficient and economical Thu-Hull Underwater LED Light, Carl continued the trimming business to fund this development. Aqualuma was established in 2004 and Generation 1 quickly became recognised within the marine industry for its iconic, indestructible polymer housing and energy efficiency. Aqualuma has dedicated an extensive amount of funds and time to research and development. The company boasts patents in 127 countries plus worldwide certifications, and it has evolved to include a comprehensive and versatile range of submersible, deck and flood lighting now in its 4th Generation of releases. In 2007, the marine industry took a decidedly heavy downturn and the Amor

brothers saw the opportunity to expand their product range. The Aqualuma team spent considerable time in the R&D lab, designing and testing to develop a worldleading LED high-bay light. The result was a new LED high-bay luminaire that achieved energy efficiency levels unheard of in the market. Providing a warranty of seven years overcame any scepticism the market held for the new technology. They were unique in being environmentally friendly, being both recyclable and upgradable as technology improved. The current Aqualuma Industrial / Commercial range of premium LED Highbay lighting ranges from 90w to 250w and includes a number of variants and optical options, ideally suited to manufacturers, engineering companies, logistics centres, freight companies, warehouses, storage faculties, vehicle showrooms, big-box retail stores and outdoor use. The company is proudly Australian and manufactures its entire range from a purpose-built facility on the Gold Coast using local labour while sourcing 90 per cent of its components from local suppliers. Aqualuma have also kindly invested some time into MTA Queensland recently, becoming the major sponsor of the MTAQ Racing team. This maintains the keen interest in the motor industry and motorsports for Carl and Grant, and the MTAQ Racing team are very proud to have a Queensland success story joining. “Aqualuma is a great story, a Queensland business that exports across the world - so it is terrific to be able to work with them and their support for the MTAQ Racing Team has been invaluable” said MTAQ Racing Team driver David Wood. “It is a relationship we are thoroughly enjoying. Carl and Grant are ‘car guys’ and love racing, so we are working towards doing them proud during the rest of the season.”
