a new and relatively affordable metal printer available through 3DSL. 3D printing is rapidly becoming recognised as a viable and cost-effective way for businesses to quickly prototype, test and manufacture components, and the technology is being used across sectors as diverse as the automotive and health industries. As the technology becomes more refined and more widely used, and more people recognise the incredible financial savings that can be made through 3D printing over traditional machining techniques, the interest from the wider business community has begun to grow and Mr Gilmour said there was no shortage of enquiries at the MTAiQ event about the advantages the tech offers and the quality

of the Markforged printers. “The Markforged is an incredible machine and being able to touch and test the printed parts is always an eyeopener, and a clear demonstration of the quality and strength of the parts that can be produced by 3D printing,” he said. “It’s important to get these samples and machines in front of people and a number of them contacted me afterwards who want to be involved in some capacity. Their questions ranged from asking about our printing services and costs to the possibility of generating an online virtual library of spare parts.” The MTAiQ showcase event will be just the start of such events for Mr Gilmour and 3DSL, and plans are now in the offing CLICK TO VISIT for similar events to be THE 3DSL held across Queensland.
