｜ Introduction - はじめに

2019 年の 1/1 ワークショップは二つのチームで行った。一つは、前年の課題であった茶室制作にもう一 度トライしたいという、1 ～ 3 年生で構成された 8 人のリベンジチーム。もう一つのチームは 2 年生 6 人 で何か面白いものを作りたいというチャレンジチームであった。 ツリーハウスは大学の事務局に掛け合って、キャンパス内の木に触れていいか許可を取ることから始まっ た。ツリーハウスとは、つまり地面からの柱のような支持材がなしで、木を敷地とする制作物を作るという ことである。植栽屋や構造家とも相談して木を傷つけずに、２本の土台角棒を 2 本のボルトで挟み締め込み、 そこからキャンティレバーで全体を制作する構法がスタディの結果生み出された。上下 4 か所の挟み込みの 土台により、このツリーハウスは構造的に成り立っている。 お披露目の秋桜祭では、木の下には隅々まで考え抜かれた従来木造構法の茶室が、そして木の上には若さ 溢れる創造性に富んだツリーハウスが対象的に現れて、訪れる人々を楽しませていた。ツリーハウスに上る 人々でできた長蛇の列は彼女たちのモノづくりの自信に繋がったであろう。 あのツリーハウスのようなクリエイティビティを持って今後社会へと羽ばたいて行ってほしい。 2020 年 5 月 田村圭介＋森部康司

Two teams took part in the 2019 1/1 workshop. One was a revenge team of eight students from first to third year who wanted to try again to create a tea house, which was a theme from the previous year. The other team was a challenge team of six second-year students who wanted to create something interesting.

The treehouse started by approaching the university office and asking permission to touch the trees on campus. A treehouse, in other words, is a creation with a tree as its site, without any support material such as posts from the ground. After consulting with a gardener and a structural engineer, a study resulted in a construction method in which two foundation square rods are clamped between two bolts without damaging the tree, and from there the whole structure is produced with cantilevers. The treehouse is structurally built with four upper and lower pinched foundations.

At the School Festival, visitors were entertained by the contrasting appearance of the traditional wooden teahouse under the tree and the young and creative treehouse on top of the tree. The long queues of people climbing up the treehouse must have given the girls confidence in their craftsmanship.

We hope that they will be as creative as the treehouse and spread their wings in society in the future.

｜ Abstruct - 概要

About 1/1 workshop 1/1workshop は、普段 1/100 や 1/200 といった小さなスケールで建築を考えることが多い建築学生に、生徒自身で実 際のスケールの建築を建てることで、普段の設計課題とは異なる視点から建築を考えることを目的としたプロジェクト である。 また、それに伴ってコスト管理・材料調達・施工・撤去・工期計画など、普段図面や模型で考えている対象を、実寸で 成功させる事の難しさを体感する。 "1/1workshop" is a project designed to encourage architecture students, who usually think about architecture at small scales such as 1/100 or 1/200, to think about architecture from a different perspective from their usual design assignments by constructing a real-scale building by themselves.

In addition, the students will experience the difficulty of successfully completing a project at actual scale, which they usually think of in terms of drawings and models, such as cost management, material procurement, construction, demolition, and construction period planning.

Proposal ─────建築と自然が一つになることはできないだろうか。 日本では、多くの建物が木で造られており、建築を建てる際には自然を伐採する必要がある。また、近年の都市開発に おいては、人間の居住区域を増やすために森林が破壊される事例も多く見られる。そのため、建築と自然の共存は一般 的に難しいものであると考えられる。 しかし私たちは、ツリーハウスこそが建築と自然の共存しうる究極の姿であると考えた。ツリーハウスならば、自然を 破壊することなく人間の居住区域を増加させることが可能である。また、木の成長に合わせて改築を行うことで、木の 成長を妨げる可能性もない。 自然と建築、そして人間との共存を目指した、1/1 史上初の宙に浮いた建築への挑戦が始まった。 ───── Can architecture and nature become one?

In Japan, many buildings are constructed of trees, and when building, it is necessary to cut down nature. In recent urban development, forests have been destroyed in many cases in order to increase the area for human habitation. Therefore, coexistence of architecture and nature is generally considered to be difficult.

However, we believe that treehouses are the ultimate form of coexistence between architecture and nature. Treehouses can increase the area of human habitation without destroying nature. Moreover, there is no possibility of disturbing the growth of the trees by reconstructing them as they grow.

Aiming for the coexistence of nature, architecture, and humans, the challenge of the first ever 1/1 floating architecture in the air has begun. ｜ 06

｜ Study - 計画 前期授業期間は、主に敷地の選定とリサーチ、学園への許可の申請、模型の製作を行った。木に対してどのようなデザインにすれば自 然と融合することが可能であるか、自然と建築の間に違和感が生まれないかを念頭に置き、数多くの模型を製作しデザインを検討した。 During the first semester, the students mainly selected and researched the site, applied for permission from the school and made models. The students made a number of models and studied the design, bearing in mind how the design of the trees could be blended with nature and whether a sense of discomfort could be created between nature and architecture.

Concept 共生と抱擁 Association and Embraced 建築と自然、わたしたちと自然が共生するため に、ツリーハウスを媒介してつながりを生み出 す。私達はツリーハウスから自然の素晴らしさ を享受し、より自然を大切にすることができる。 そのために、お互いを「抱擁」する空間を考える。 木に触れながら登ることで自然を抱擁し、枝葉 に包み込まれることで自然にも抱擁される。 To create a connection between architecture and nature; us and nature, through the treehouse. We can enjoy the wonders of nature from the treehouse and cherish it even more.

So, we think of spaces that 'embrace' each other. By climbing up the tree while touching it, we embrace nature, and by being enveloped by its branches and leaves, we are also embraced by nature.

ツリーハウスの構造はサンドイッチ工法と GL 工法の二つがある。今回は、 ①二日間のみの仮設的な建設であること ② GL 工法は大樹の多い米国向きで、日本 向きの工法ではないこと ③ GL 工法に必要な特殊なボルトは入手が 困難であること から、サンドイッチ工法を採用した。

サンドイッチ構造を 1 箇所ではなく 4 箇所に設けることで、ユニットごとの荷重を分散させている。最下部のユニットのみより多くの荷重を支える必要 があるとして、2 つのサンドイッチを直交させて配置している。 The sandwich construction method distributes the load to each unit by having the sandwich take up the load at four different locations instead of one. Only the lowest unit needs to support more load, so two sandwiches are placed at right angles to each other.

Japanese people have long excelled at building structures without metal fittings, using only combinations of wood. This is

the reason why we were inspired by the two traditional Japanese construction methods of rectangular and T-shape joints to plan the structure of this tree house.

ズレと共通性 Deviation & Affinity 300 ごとに張り出す階段に合わせ、 同じ 300 ごとにフレームを支える束 をずらして配置する。それぞれのデ ザインがずれながら組み合わさるこ とで、共通性がありながら回遊性の あるデザインとなる。 The short pillars are staggered to match the overhanging staircase for

each of the 300. By combining the different designs in a staggered

manner, a commonality and a sense of circulation are achieved.

｜ Experiment - 実験 夏休み期間に、実験用の木材や金物を自ら調達し、実際の敷地で安全実験を行った。宙に浮いた構造体は 1/1workshop において前例 が無いため、構造家と何度も話し合いを重ね実験を行うことで安全性を確認した。 During the summer holiday period, we procured the timber and hardware for the experiments by own hands and conducted

safety tests on the actual site. As a structure floating in the air is unprecedented in 1/1workshop, the safety of the structure was confirmed through a lot of discussions and experiments with the structural engineer.

Site 敷地の選定においては、文化祭での展示ということもあり、どの木なら多くの人の目に留まり、注目してもらえるかということも重要 であった。 In selecting the site, it was also important to consider which trees would catch the attention of as many people as possible.

Structure models 実験を行う前に 1/15 構造模型を製作し、予め強度を確認した。 Before conducting the experiments, a 1/15 structural model was built to check the strength beforehand.

Ⅰ：サンドイッチに用いた木材は LVL 65×30、ボルトはφ 20。大人 2 人の荷重には耐えたがややぐらつき安定性に欠けた。 Ⅱ：木材を杉 120×120、ボルトをφ 12 に改良。安定感が増し、大人 4 人の荷重でもぐらつきは発生しなかった為寸法を決定。 Ⅲ：構造のサンドイッチだけではなく、モックアップも取り付け意匠の確認と強度の確保を行った。大人 5 人の荷重に耐える。 Ⅳ：サンドイッチを二段目まで、モックアップを本番の半分の高さまで取り付け、分散した荷重にも耐えられるか確認。大人 5 人の荷重がかかっても問題 が発生しなかった為、意匠を確認し形を最終決定した。 I : The wood used for the sandwich was LVL 65x30 and the bolts were ø20; the results of the experiment showed that although it could withstand the load of two adults, it was a little wobbly and lacked stability.

II : The wood was improved to cedar 120 x 120 and the bolts to ø12. The dimensions were decided because the stability was increased and no wobble occurred even with a load of four adults.

III : In addition to the sandwich of the structure, a mock-up was also installed to check the design and ensure strength. Withstands a load of five adults.

IV : The mock-up was installed to half the height of the production version to check if it could withstand distributed loads. As no problems occurred under a load of five adults, the design was checked and the shape finalised. ｜ 16

｜ Construction - 施工 後期授業期間に入ると、主に本番用の木材の加工を行った。実際の敷地にモックアップを設置しながら、デザインの微調整と強度を確 認していく。 In the second semester, the main focus was on processing the timber for production. While installing the mock-up on the actual site, the design was fine-tuned and checked for strength.

文化祭当日は多くの親子連れにより、長蛇の列ができた。子供たちはツリーハウスに登ることで、より身近に自然を感じる。 On the day of the festival, many parents and children formed a long queue. Children feel closer to nature by climbing the treehouse.
