REFUND POLICY

It is our goal to ensure enjoyment in. all of our recreation programs. Therefore, If you are unable to participate for medical reasons, or unforeseen circumstances please contact us immediately. Our policy is to provide a 100% refund to anyone who makes a written request before the start of the program After a program has begun, a prorated refund may be given.

MSV Insurance Policy: All activites require current Miami Shores Village Insurance. Insurance Fee is good for one year from date of purchase. Fee covers all recreation programs and activities during this time.

Residents: $12./yr

Nonresidents: $15./yr.

RESIDENT POLICY

The Miami Shores Parks and Recreation Department is operated from Miami Shores Village general fund. Non-residents will be required to pay additional fees for all programs. Residents must provide proof of residency at time of registration.

Proof of residency must accompany all registration.

Early Childhood Program

Preschoolers will explore the world around them and interact with peers through movement and play. This class is designed to enhance development using a variety of dancing movement and sports games. Children will learn critical thinking, explore creative expression, develop cooperation skills and socialize in a group setting. Games played will stimulate eye-hand coordination and improve core strength and flexibility, as well as develop large motor skills such as: kicking, throwing and balance. KidCreate Studio

Ages (18 months to 5years) – Parent and Me Class

Kidcreate Studio’s award-winning art classes allow kids to explore art in an environment full of giggles and grins. Kids create fridgeworthy masterpieces while learning art concepts and experimenting with different art materials. The curriculum is age-appropriate and designed to inspire. Classes provide a fun, self-esteem-building atmosphere full of “I did it” moments. We will meet with kiddos and caretakers on a weekly basis for 6 weeks. Our classes begin with a song or story time, then we roll up our sleeves to create using paint, slime, clay, canvas board or just simply mess making. Our sensorybased classes are designed to encourage kiddos to utilize their finemotor skills, and develop their love and knowledge of ART! Kidcreate Studio’s award-winning art classes allow kids to explore art in an environment full of giggles and grins. Our classes begin with circle time, where we review class rules and introduce our KidBit; the educational component included in every Kidcreate course. Then we dive into our project time! This portion is hands-on and guided instructions from our engaged teachers. From there, we regroup for our very special Ta-da time, where we review what we’ve learned and celebrate our creations. Taekwon-Do Master Fruitstone

The national martial art of Korea, Ch’ang Hon(ITF) style Taekwon-do has its foundations in the Okinawan systems of Shorin and Shorei Ryu Karate. It combines hard and soft, fast and slow movements and footwork, and is known for its evolutionary kicking techniques.

Teen & Tween Fitness Classes

With more access than ever to digital distraction, social media, social pressure in school, and self-image issues, regular exercise has never been more important. This program is age-specific. It focuses on teaching correct and safe movement patterns, especially focused on the Primal Movement Patterns (Squat, Bend, Lunge, Push, Pull, Twist, and Gait) in a small group fun, pressure free environment. We pay attention, not only to, but to their mental and emotional development as well. Kids will learn the basics of eating whole foods, as well as have the opportunity to interact with one another in a supportive environment.

Our team is a year round competitive swim team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities.

Our goal is to create a safe, friendly and fun environment that nurtures the competitive spirit of club/team swimming, such that all swimmers can achieve their highest personal and athletic potentials.

In addition to great physical benefits of swimming we teach proper technique, racing strategy, personal discipline, mental toughness and team spirit. We provide a positive environment that encourages positive role modeling, self-motivation, personal accountability and pride in winning and losing.

The number of practice days is determined by the coach’s recommendations. All youth interested in competitive swimming are invited to try-out.

Adult Stroke Improvement Class/ MSA Master

Looking to get back into swimming or training for a triathlon? In this class you will receive tips to improve your skills. Learn how to make your strokes more efficient, and get more comfortable in the water or just refine your stroke and build endurance.

The Aquatic Center has teamed up with the American Red Cross to offer their Learn to Swim Program

• Each class must have a minimum of 4 participants enrolled Participants must preregister for all the classes. To Register: Residents may register two weeks before class. Nonresidents one week before class (based on availability)

• Class dates and times may vary from session to session

IPAP

(Infant & Parent Aquatics Program) 6 months to 3 years (one Child per parent)

Younger children will adjust to the water by learning skills such as placing the face in the water, flutter kicks and pre-floating skills. All Parents are taught how to instruct their children and recognize any errors in their child’s swimming technique. Children are required to wear swim diapers. Parents must be in the water with their children. Instructors will work at the skill level of each child regardless of varied abilities.

Preschool Levels 1, 2 & 3

This class is for 4 and 5 year olds who are ready to learn introductory water skills as well as beginner swimming skills. Students will learn to enter the pool properly, float, glide and the basics of front crawl.

Adult Swim Lessons

An introduction to swimming for adults. Focus is on comfort in the water, submersion, and floating. Call (305) 795-2241 for Availability

Beginners

Beginner (Level 1 & 2)

This class is for students 6 years and older. It introduces children with little to no water experience to basic swimming skills. Students will learn the front crawl and floating techniques.

Intermediate

Intermediate (Levels 3 & 4)

This class is for students 6 years and older who can complete two lengths of the pool and are comfortable in the water and have learned the fundamentals of the front crawl. Student will master and rotary breathing and learn elementary backstroke, sidestroke and back crawl.

Students skill level must be evaluated prior to registration.

Private Swim Lessons

Miami Shores Aquatic Center now offers Private Swim Lessons taught by our American Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructors. Private Lessons are available for all ages and abilities.Instructors will provide a customized schedule and instruction curriculum for participant.
