Former MNSU ROTC instructor accused of theft

MADISON DIEMERT NEWS EDITOR Army Master Sgt. Michael Paul Moore, a former ROTC instructor at Minnesota State University, Mankato was recently accused of theft.

Moore, who has since been assigned to a post in Texas, was accused of stealing $900 from a cadet activities account. The account was supposed to be an activity fund for active ROTC cadets

attending MNSU. The Flagler Beach, Florida native wrote was in charge of overseeing the account from Jan. 2017 to July 2018 and between June and July of 2018 he withdrew hundreds of dollars. He also wrote himself checks from the account, as well. Moore was charged with gross misdemeanor theft Tuesday, March 26.

Moore allegedly told authorities he could not remember why he wrote himself those checks, though he admitted to writing them.

The theft was discovered after Moore was posted to El Paso, Texas by a new officer who reported it to a Major in the program. Moore is due in court April 18.

Yusuf Estes shares history, knowledge of Islam

JOSHUA SCHUETZ STAFF WRITER The Muslim Student Association sponsored an event dedicated to addressing Islamophobia and informing the public about Islam, the second largest religion in the world, and one followed by many students here at Minnesota State University, Mankato Wednesday, March 27.

The event began with recitations from the Qur’an, Islam’s sacred text. The recitation was done in Arabic, with an English translation following thereafter.

But the star of the show was Yusuf Estes, an Islamic scholar from Texas who converted to the religion in 1991. Estes is one of the foremost Islamic scholars in the United States, and currently runs Guide US TV, an English-language channel dedicated to sharing information about Islam to audiences in the West.

Estes broke down numerous misconceptions about Islam commonly held in the West, and he pointed out that the majority of victims of terror attacks are Muslims.

He broke down the etymology of the word Islam as well, breaking its meaning down into seven words: surrender, submission, obedience, sincerity, safety, security, and peace. “There is peace in there, but not until you do all the rest of it,” Estes said. “You want to be in peace with almighty God?

Surrender, submit, obey, sincerely, in safety, security, and peace.”

“Now how can I take that word and perform those things as a Muslim?”

Estes touched on some of the similarities and differences among the Abrahamic religions. He also spoke about the importance of rights, which are granted

by God. “Every human being, has a right in front of God. Maybe you don’t want to give people their rights, maybe I don’t want to, but God is the one who has given everybody rights,” Estes said. “And it’s us who actually take rights away from each other, that’s what’s really happening in the world, and that’s not new.

That’s ever since the children of Adam started. There have always been people who take rights away from others.

But it’s not God doing that, people do that.”

In the final part of the presentation, Estes spoke about the importance of combating the Antichrist, which he says is a common enemy of Muslims and Christians. “You ask God almighty to keep you away from the Antichrist don’t you?

So do we! Can we find some common ground here?”

“We have an enemy, we know the devil is the enemy.”

The presentation finished out with a short question and answer session, which was followed by the Maghrib prayer, the Islamic prayer conducted at sunset.

Student RSO spotlight: Marketing Club JOSHUA SCHUETZ STAFF WRITER A recent poll indicated that about one in four Europeans would prefer artificial intelligence to make political decisions, as opposed to politicians. In some European countries, the percentage came close to half.

This is an interesting development. I think that if Americans were asked this question, they might respond at about the same rate.

Younger people, being more comfortable with technology and more disdainful of the political system, would likely be more enthusiastic in their support.

It’s easy to understand why this is the case. Politicians in the West have largely lost the trust of their constituents, not without good cause. In addition, people ascribe almost supernatural qualities to technology and lionize tech companies, with some exceptions.

So can politics be automated? If only it were that simple. Artificial intelligence can be helpful in politics, as it is or has the potential to be in almost any field, but its primary use should be as a tool, at least for now. The technology to automate an entire political system simply does not exist as of yet, and will likely not exist for a long time into the future.

Moreover, even if we get artificial intelligence to match human intellect, there is no surefire way to protect it from human biases, especially if the data that the program is working with already has biases.

Everything else in the business depends upon marketing. Marketing not only determines consumer need, it also helps create consumer need.

Marketing Club at Minnesota State University, Mankato is an organization for students that are interested in the marketing industry. Taylor Lindaman, the Director of the Speakers of Marketing Club states that we connect students to future employers and provide resources to better our future by attending company tours and bringing in speakers to talk about their industry experience, stories, and advice. “We’ve taken many company tours, including Boeing, United Airlines, CBD Marketing, and Hunt Adkins,” Lindaman said. “Moreover, as a group, we attend sporting events, concerts, and anything exciting happening around the area,” she added.

Being asked about any specific requirement to join the club, Lindaman stated that Marketing Club is open to all majors and grades.

Marketing Club team is active over social media.

“You can follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn at “MNSU Marketing Club” to get details on upcoming events, meetings, and to ask any questions,” Lindaman stated. Another correction must be made for the article titled, “New referendum underway, coud significantly

increase student fees.” The referendum in question will not raise tution, but student fees.

The article also mentions that there is no list for students to refer to when wondering which organizations would benefit from the increase, but there is a list online, it is just hard to reach.

Trump’s threat to close border stirs fears of economic harm EL PASO, Texas (AP) — President Donald Trump’s threat to shut down the southern border raised fears Monday of dire economic consequences in the U.S. and an upheaval of daily life in a stretch of the country that relies on the international flow of not just goods and services but also students, families and workers.

Politicians, business leaders and economists warned that such a move would block incoming shipments of fruits and vegetables, TVs, medical devices and other products and cut off people who commute to their jobs or school or come across to go shopping.

Trump brought up the possibility of closing ports of entry along the southern border Friday and revisited it in tweets over the weekend because of a surge of Central Americans migrants who are seeking asylum. Elected leaders from border communities stretching from San Diego to cities across Texas warned that havoc would ensue on

both sides of the international boundary if the ports were closed. They were joined by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which said such a step would inflict “severe economic harm.”

In California’s Imperial Valley, across from Mexicali, Mexico, farmers rely on workers who come across every day from Mexico to harvest fields of lettuce, carrots, onions and other winter vegetables. Shopping mall parking lots in the region are filled with cars with Mexican plates.

More than 60 percent of all Mexican winter produce consumed in the U.S. crosses into the country at Nogales, Arizona. The winter produce season is especially heavy

right now, with the import of Mexican-grown watermelons, grapes and squash, said Lance Jungmeyer, president of the Fresh Produce Association of the Americas.

He said 11,000 to 12,000 commercial trucks cross the border at Nogales daily, laden with about 50 million pounds of produce such as eggplants, tomatoes, bell peppers, lettuce, cucumbers and berries.

He said a closing of the border would lead to immediate layoffs and result in shortages and price increases at grocery stores and restaurants.

“If this happens — and I certainly hope it doesn’t — I’d hate to go into a grocery store four or five days later and see what it looks like,” Jungmeyer said.

Laredo Mayor Pete Saenz, chairman of the Texas Border Coalition, said a closure would be catastrophic.

“Closing the border would cause an immediate depression in border state communities and, depending on the duration, a recession in the rest of the country,” he said.

“Our business would end,” said Marta Salas, an employee at an El Paso shop near the border that sells plastic flowers that are used on the Mexican side by families

Why do students not vote?

A student’s viewpoint on the harm of not voting

MARIA LY STAFF WRITER This generation is known for the dumbest things, from eating tide pods to “do it for the Vine” to our obsession with memes. However, one thing that we may be the dumbest about is voting.

A lot of people - especially in this weird generation of being in between a Gen Z and a millennial- do not think about the importance of voting.

I’ve witnessed many friends, siblings, cousins, classmates, and strangers, not vote because they simply believed, “my vote doesn’t matter.” That’s where things can get dangerous, and extremely frustrating.

Even K-12 graders vote more than us, as they are forced to vote for their student council during one of their class periods. Some people simply do not vote unless they have to, and in most cases that does not happen.

We’ve all seen the dangers of not voting when President Trump was elected into

office. I was 17 at the time, and I helplessly watched my 18-year-old sister decide not to vote, because she “doesn’t like any of the candidates” and that “Hillary will probably win anyway.”

Even my American Government teacher predicted and ensured students that Hillary would win, and after elections was dumbfounded and said this was the first time his prediction was wrong.

Was this lack of voting and the thought that “my vote doesn’t matter” the reason President Trump won?

It’s not just big elections like the presidential election that the “my vote doesn’t matter” mentality affects,

but also small elections, such as electing Student Government on campus, voting in referendums to increase tuition, or choosing board members for a huge association.

Last semester the campus had students vote on adding a sports bubble to our school whilst adding a student fee to pay for said bubble.

I heard many friends express their opposition towards the sports bubble, and “forgot to vote.”

Minnesota State University, Mankato has 15,000 plus students, and out of the campus population only 2,915 voted in the referendum with 1,900 voting in approval of the sports bubble.

Imagine if all of the people who said they “forgot to vote” or the ones who didn’t care enough to bother or the ones who didn’t their vote would matter voted… maybe the results would be different.

My friends in the International Student Association who ran for president and vice president lost the election, despite the many friends who promised to vote.

Throughout the week, I overheard people saying, “They’ll probably win anyway.” A friend told me they didn’t vote because it doesn’t matter if they do or not, that “it’s just one vote.”

Out of the 1329 international students, only 361 voted. My friends needed 43 votes to win. Part of me wonders what would happen if everyone who promised to vote did.

Hopefully people learn from their mistakes of not voting and quickly realize that their vote does matter, and that their vote can impact an entire country or a college campus for that matter.

Student Government elections are coming up soon on April 9. These groups of students have a big impact on the future and present of our campus. They have millions of dollars of budgeting on the tips of their fingers.

They make decisions and fix problems. Please vote, because it does matter.

Men’s hockey upset by Providence in first round Team bows out of the tournament early after entering the field as a top seed

ANDREW NEURURER STAFF WRITER Minnesota State University, Mankato men’s hockey couldn’t end their franchise drought of losing in the NCAA Tournament as the Providence Friars won Saturday night, 3-6, in Providence, Rhode Island to bow out of the NCAA tournament.

Mankato is now 0-6 in tournament play and have been unable to gain any success since winning the tournament in 1980 for Division II hockey.

The Mavericks entered postseason play as the No. 1 seed in the East region going into Saturday’s matchup with the Friars.

MSU was dealt a bad hand when it was announced they had to travel to Providence to take on the Friars. The game served as a neutral site, but it was essentially a home game for Providence.

Mankato got off to a hot start, leading the game 3-0.

Providence was able to cut the lead heading into the second period with the score of 3-1, but it was the Mavericks that controlled the majority of the first period. It looked as if it

would have been a 4-1 lead for MSU, but after the official review, it was deemed offside and therefore overturned.

Sophomore forward Jake Jaremko, along with junior forwards Charlie Gerard and Nick Rivera were the only three players that were able to score Saturday.

The story of the game was the difference in power play success. According to NCAA.com, the Mavericks score on 23 percent of their power play’s, sitting firmly with Minnesota-Duluth for

the 10th and 11th spot in Division I. However, they have the most power play goals throughout the season with 44. In Saturday’s game they were 0-for-3, unable to capitalize on anything.

MSU entered the game fifth in the Division I in penalty kills – a success rate of 87.1 percent.

Providence was 4-for-7 on the power play, scoring on 57.1 percent of them.

The biggest game changing moment happened mid-third period when

sophomore defenseman Connor Mackey registered a major penalty.

That caused him to be ejected from the game and allowed Providence to break the tie, scoring two goals and taking a commanding 3-5 lead. MSU was unable to find any late game magic like they did against Bowling Green for the WCHA championship game.

They pulled Freshman goalie Dryden McKay late in the third period, but the Friars were able to capitalize

on the empty net, sending the Mavericks back home.

This ends their season with a record of 32-8-2, the most wins in school history.

While it was a successful season for MSU, it ends in another disappointing NCAA tournament run. Some higher points of the season include winning the MacNaughton Cup and finishing as WCHA champs.

They lose just three seniors this season and will look to build off that success during the 2019-20 season.

Softball sweeps weekend series in North Dakota The team defeated the University of Mary and Minot State in all 4 games played on the weekend

AARON YOUNG STAFF WRITER The Minnesota State University, Mankato Maverick softball continued conference play this past weekend with two series against the University of Mary Marauders and Minot State Beavers in North Dakota.

In their first game against the Marauders, the Mavs were on a roll. They scored right off the bat in the first inning as junior outfielder Carly Esselman drove in senior McKenzie Paap home before Esselman reached home after senior catcher Cori Kennedy got a hit.

In the following inning, it was sophomore infielder Julia Bastian who singled to right and drove sophomore Torey Richards home for the 3-0 lead.

When the third inning approached, the Mavs would extend their lead even more.

outfielder Courtney Potter home and sophomore Emma Schifferle connected on a double to for an RBI. Then, Richards smashed two-run homer in the next at-bat.

MSU added more salt to the wound with three more runs

in the sixth inning. University of Saint Mary would get one on the board in the bottom of the sixth with a solo shot but that wasn’t enough.

Sophomore starting pitcher Mackenzie Ward earned the win and improves to 8-7 on the year, pitching five innings

and striking out six.

Esselman was the player of the game as she went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs. In the second game, it was the Marauders who were victorious in a back and forth affair. They were the first on the board with a solo homer

in the second.

The Mavs responded in the third inning as Potter drove in a pair of runs to take the lead.

University of Mary had a pair of runs in the fourth and would keep the lead the rest of the game.

Potter went 2 for 4 in the game with 2 RBIs. In the second series, the Mavericks would win both games against Minot State, the first 10-7 and the second 12-7.

In the first, the Mavericks got on the board right away in the first, as Kennedy connected on a single driving in Potter.

In the next inning, Paap hit a single that scored freshman Hannah Hastings and a few pitches later Richards scored on a wild pitch.

Minot State would respond with 3 runs of their own tying the game at 3.

The Mavs got the upper hand for a little bit before Minot State would respond with four runs in the fourth to jump to a 7-4 lead.

Track and field competes in the Vikings Olympics The team faced off in the individual meet in Sioux Falls on Saturday

BOBBI PATRICK STAFF WRITER The Minnesota State University, Mankato Mavericks track & field team competed at the Vikings Olympics Saturday, March 30.

A select number of athletes from each of the men’s and women’s track & field team competed at the event.

On the women’s side, sophomore thrower Kaylee Jensen finished third with a throw of 43.96 meters (14403). Jensen also competed in the hammer throw where she won the event with a throw of 50.69 meters (166-04).

Senior thrower Sola Stephenson and junior Jessika Dieringer both competed in the Javelin throw and took the first and second spots in the event. Stephenson threw a 37.10 meter toss and Dieringer threw a 36.74

track and field preseason poll ranked the women’s MSU team to finish second while the men’s team is seeded to finish first.

The Mavericks will next compete in their next meet in Pella, Iowa at the Dutch Invitational and the South Dakota Challenge in Vermillion, South Dakota.

Stage is set for Final Four in Minneapolis

The NCAA Tournament has been nothing short of thrilling this season

BRADY OLSON STAFF WRITER It’s official. The Final Four is set, and the college basketball world is now just three games away from crowning a champion. With this year’s Final Four coming to Minneapolis, let’s recap just how the tournament has gone through the first 64 games.

In the Round of 64, Minnesota fans got to see the Gophers open the round with a fantastic victory over seventh-seeded Louisville.

Elsewhere, 12-seed Murray State and star guard Ja Morant enjoyed a 19-point throttling of Marquette, being one of three 12-seeds to advance to the second round.

While the 12-seeds performed well, the tourney was void of many bigger upsets this year, with 13-seed UC Irvine being the lowest seed to win in the first round.

There was a scare with Virginia, who was playing 16-seed Gardner-Webb.

The Round of 32 saw even fewer upsets, but saw some thrilling action in the process.

9-seed UCF took Duke to the wire, but star freshmen RJ Barrett and Zion Williamson willed the Blue Devils into the Sweet 16.

Elsewhere, 10-seed Iowa managed to turn a 25-point deficit into an overtime game, but ultimately ran out of gas against Tennessee.

Wofford’s 3-point attack was on fire in the first round, but failed to show up in a 62-56 loss to Kentucky.

The next game saw the Beavers putting seven runs on the board early, forcing the Mavericks to rally late in

In the Sweet 16, things got a bit more interesting with Auburn taking down UNC. The fifth-seeded Tigers were the second-lowest seed remaining, and stunned the top-seeded Tar Heels in a 97-80 rout.

Elsewhere, Virginia survived Oregon, Duke pulled out another close victory over Virginia Tech, and defending runner-up Michigan was blown out by Texas Tech.

The Sweet 16 also saw the last perfect bracket in the world bust. The bracket, titled “Center Road”, made 49 correct picks to open the tournament, and busted on Purdue’s OT win over Tennessee. This was the first ever bracket to survive the opening weekend, as the previous record holder had only survived 39 games, which wouldn’t have even survived to the fourth day of play. This was a big step towards the first ever perfect bracket, but it ultimately did fail, making us wait for at least

one more year.

In the Elite Eight, Auburn continued its hot streak by taking down SEC foe Kentucky. Gonzaga would go down in the West Region, falling to Texas Tech.

The most thrilling game of the round, Duke vs. Michigan State, saw the Blue Devils’ season come to an end at the hands of Michigan State, as a missed free throw from RJ Barrett was the ultimate decider in the 68-67 loss for Duke.

That left Virginia as the lone 1-seed remaining, whose redemption season stayed alive with an 80-75 win over Purdue.

With just the Final Four remaining, it will be interesting to see what happens with the remaining squads. Can Virginia complete the ultimate comeback season? Can Auburn extend their 12-game winning streak a little further?

Or what about Michigan State and Texas Tech? Only time will tell on these teams, so don’t miss what will surely be one exciting Final Four.

Chris Lane gives Mankato its “Fix” of country music

MARK REYNOLDS STAFF WRITER Pop-country artist Chris Lane performed in the Bresnan Arena at Minnesota State University, Mankato Thursday, March 28.

The show opened with singer Tyler Rich, who played an intimate acoustic set, comprised of two acoustic guitars and an acoustic bass guitar.

The California native drew in the audience with a great stage presence and energy.

His hit single “The Difference” had the crowd singing and dancing.

Chris Lane came onto the stage with an explosion of energy that was kept up throughout the whole concert, capturing the audience in a country trance, transforming the Bresnan Arena into a dance floor filled with so much energy that even I had a good time.

Throughout the night, Lane played all his hits, including

a concert who knew every word to every song.

But that just speaks to the loyalty of country music fans.

Breaking Benjamin blows the roof off Verizon Center MICHAEL MCSHANE STAFF WRITER It was a rock fanatic’s dream come true Friday night as Breaking Benjamin played a fantastic set list that would make any music lover faint.

The concert was packed way before Breaking Benjamin even got up on stage as fans were also jumping up and screaming their hearts out to Fight the Fury, Underoath and Skillet. The group of bands have been on tour going from city to city.

Fight the Fury were the first to go on as they opened up the event. Playing only four songs for their set, they got the mood going with some nice hard rock.

It wasn’t long though until recently Grammy-nominated metal band Underoath came on, and without any need of introduction, blasted the crowd in screaming lyrics.

Starting off with a loud one, “On My Teeth” led the pack of heart pumping songs.

Other songs Underoath drilled into the crowd’s hearts were “Hold Your Breath,” “Breathing in a New Mentality” and finishing off with “Sink with You.” At no time were anyone in Verizon Center, let alone in the pit, not on their feet jumping up head-banging throughout the whole set list.

their set, it came time for Skillet to come on stage. The band gave the crowd no time to prepare themselves as the Christian heavy metal band had everyone in the palm of their hands with “Feel Invincible.”

Midway through their set list, lead vocalist John Cooper brought to the crowd’s attention, especially to their long-time fans, that Jen Ledger, the drummer and co-lead vocals for the group, was unavailable to come on tour.

Bramlett from The Protest took charge of drums and former lead singer of Flyleaf, Lacey Sturm, joined Cooper on stage. Skillet also played all of its best hits including “Hero” and “Monster.”

As they played one of their songs “Sick of It,” Cooper asked all the people in the crowd to think of things they are sick of in their life.

As he went on, Cooper told the crowd he is personally sick of all his friends in the music industry killing themselves, referring to the deaths of Chris Cornell and

a child with him, which made Katherine believe that Cal was able to move on easily from Andre, which wasn’t the case. In midst of all the hurt and anger, Bud’s young age and curiosity allowed him to help Katherine understand that you can still love one that is no longer with you while moving on and enjoying life.

This production brought on many times of laughter with Bud’s bubbly and curious personality while also

appeared and with the song “Red Cold River” gave the crowd what they paid for with an electric performance.

With the drop of the drape the rest of the stage was shown with the cover of the band’s latest album, “Ember”, in the background.

Katherine believes that Cal is the reason her son died, and she was holding onto the grudge that gay men aren’t good to society. Will was low-key flaunting the fact that he has this wonderful life being married to Cal and is raising

Chester Bennington, lead vocalists to Soundgarden and Linkin Park respectfully who both committed suicide in 2017.

After their set, the crowd in the pit and stands began to shuffle back to recharge as everyone knew who was coming on next. When everyone returned, a drape covered the stage and it wasn’t long until the lights died down and the crowd screamed loudly.

The silhouette of lead singer, Benjamin Burnley along with a red Celtic knot,

bringing many moments of sadness with Andre’s death and Katherine’s behavior.

“Mother and Sons” makes the audience think about what’s really important in life and teaches that no matter what one’s sexuality is, everyone deserves to be loved for the way they are.

This show was outstanding with the cast, and I would recommend it to everyone who asks me about it.

Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle shot and killed at 33

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Rapper Nipsey Hussle was fatally shot outside the clothing store he founded to help rebuild his troubled South Los Angeles neighborhood, police said, cutting short a career that earned him a Grammy nomination this year for his major-label debut. He was 33.

Police said Hussle was one of three men shot Sunday outside Marathon Clothing, his store in South Los Angeles; the other two were in stable condition. A large crowd gathered outside the store as night fell. Detectives were canvassing the area for witnesses and looking to see if any surveillance video captured the shooting, police Lt. Chris Ramirez said. Investigators had not yet determined a motive or identified any suspects, Ramirez said.

Mayor Eric Garcetti was among the many people expressing condolences.

“Our hearts are with the loved ones of Nipsey Hussle and everyone touched by this awful tragedy. L.A. is hurt deeply each time a young life is lost to senseless gun violence,” Garcetti tweeted.

Hussle, who had two children and was engaged to actress Lauren London, was an Eritrean-American whose real name was Ermias Asghedom.

“This doesn’t make any sense! My spirit is shaken by this!,” Rihanna wrote while posting photos of Hussle with his daughter and another

As the night went on, with beer cups strewn throughout the pit, Breaking Benjamin began letting fans, primarily ones with tattoos of their lyrics, onto the stage.

It was time for Breaking Benjamin to close out the concert and ended it with one of their most popular songs, “Diary of Jane” that had the entire crowd singing along in cadence.

A rock concert that sent many home with busted vocal cords, this was a music festival in sheep’s clothing that many southern Minnesota rock enthusiasts will likely never forget.

Hussle was born on Aug. 15, 1985, in the same Crenshaw neighborhood where he died, and where he had been working to provide youths with alternatives to the hustling he did when he was younger.

Los Angeles Police Commissioner Steve Soboroff tweeted that he and Police Chief Michel Moore had agreed with Hussle to meet with him on Monday to “talk about ways he could help stop gang violence and help us help kids.”

Hussle explained where he was coming from in a Los Angeles Times interview last year: “In our culture, there’s a narrative that says, ‘Follow the athletes, follow the entertainers,’” he said. “And that’s cool, but there should be something that says, ‘Follow Elon Musk, follow (Mark) Zuckerberg.’”

Hussle said his first passion was music but getting resources was tough after leaving his mother’s house at 14 to live with his grandmother. Hussle said he got involved in street life as he tried to support himself, and he joined the gang Rollin 60’s Neighborhood Crips as a teenager.

His keyboardist got up and showed off his rap skills, they played a medley of several country classics, including Brooks & Dunn’s “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” and he even brought a fan onstage and sang to her.

Lane, whose 2017 single “Take Back Home Girl” reached No. 12 on Billboard’s Top 50 Hot Country Songs, even played some non-country songs including

blink-182’s “All The Small Things.”

One of the most entertaining parts of the show was when Lane wasn’t singing – or at least not Chris. His identical twin brother Cory Lane, who plays drums for Chris, was surprised by the band as they made him sing Kenny Chesney’s “I Go Back,” which he did with aplomb.

Near the end of the show, Lane borrowed a fan’s cowboy hat, which he then wore through the end of the set.

As someone who has never been to a country music concert, I didn’t really know what to expect (aside from jeans and flannel, of which

there were plenty). I’m not a fan of country music, but I don’t hate it. I still have fond memories of my grandma playing country radio in her car.

That being said, I had a great time. Once I placed myself in the audience, I quickly felt the energy of the music and understood why people love this music.

I found myself wanting to sing along to songs that I had never heard before.

What this concert really did is remind me to keep an open mind, especially in music. If I didn’t, I would never have gone to this concert. And Chris Lane put on a fantastic concert.
