Presidential Climate Commission engages with Carolina residents on climate change issues CAROLINA | NTHABISENG MOHLAKOANA The Presidential Climate Commission has engaged with residents of Mpumalanga on issues of climate change. They held public consultations in mining areas of Carolina and Secunda. Water and air pollution were some of the concerns raised by the residents. The Climate Change Commissioner Happy Nkambule says the dialogues will assist the government and all its social partners to have an understanding of the country’s climate change response.“ Communities are quite clear that there are opposing views we do need development there are jobs in these industries, but on the other side is that these industries are creating this social ill that our community is facing, so how do we balance that one thing that starting to come out more? So I believe right here in Mpumalanga more than in other areas diversification of the economy particularly not being held by one provider of employment is quite key.”

Crop farmers say they are faced with many challenges as a result of climate change. They say they have to cope with drought, floods, soil erosion, and biodiversity loss. Molefi Moleme has been a farmer for almost 10 years and he says it is not easy. “The challenges the farmers are facing now is too much rain that we received because sometimes after planting on that day the rain can be too much – up to 70% and then we have to replant again. “Now that thing wastes a lot of your money because maybe you’ve planted on that day 60 hectares, 60 hectares to plant is too much money. Another thing is, maybe you’ve planted last week and this week it rains when the plants are trying to germinate, and the plants now don’t need too much water because the soil becomes stagnant and they will wield and die,” says Moleme.newsroom@rekordmediafs.co.z a

Two women killed, fourteen people injured taxi accident ERMELO | NTHABISENG MOHLAKOANA Two women were killed while fourteen people were injured in a taxi accident on the N17 outside Ermelo on Monday 18 April 2022 afternoon. Paramedics quickly assessed the
patients and found that two women had sustained fatal injuries in the rollover. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for them, and they were declared dead. Fourteen other people, including several
children, were tended to on the scene. “On assessment, paramedics found two women and a ten-year-old girl were in a critical condition while twelve others had sustained minor to serious
injuries.” The injured people were treated and provided with advanced life support before being transported to various hospitals for urgent care. newsroom@rekordmediafs.co.za

Hy doen dit vir ander, Hy het dit vir Paulus gedoen en Hy doen dit ook vir my en jou persoonlik – ons kan dit maar glo en met albei hande vat en vir onsself toe-eien . Wat egter vandag vir my uitstaan in hierdie teks is hóé die Here dit doen – nie op bonatuurlike wyse met onverklaarbare ingrype of so iets nie, nee, Hy doen dit deur ’n doodgewone man. Toe Titus opdaag het sy teenwoordigheid, sy bemoedigende woorde, sy positiewe ingesteldheid, die goeie nuus wat hy kom uitlig het vir Paulus opgebeur, uit die bekommernis-put gelig en hom weer moed gegee. Ons kan mos daai vars briesie wees wat iets positief kom inblaas in iemand se slegte dag. Met die hoop en geloof wat in ons is, kán ons die optimis wees wat die positiewe kant van ’n saak kan raaksien en kan uitlig. Met die insig wat die Gees vir ons gee, kan ons opbouende insette lewer en bemoedigende, raakvat-woorde gee. Wees vandag dié persoon waarvan Jes. 35:3-4 praat: Bemoedig dié wie se hande slap hang, help dié wie se knieë knik, sê vir dié wat moed verloor het: “Wees sterk, moenie bang wees nie, julle God is hier ...” ~ Wilna Botha

Pilchard Cottage pie
INGREDIENTS 8 potatoes, peeled and cubed 30 ml or 2 tbsp margarine 80 ml or 1/3 cup of milk pinch of salt and pepper 4 tbsp or 1/4 cup breadcrumbs or 2 slices of bread 1 medium onion, chopped 15 ml or 1 tbsp cooking oil 2 medium grated tomatoes 400 g or 1 tin pilchards, deboned and cleaned 400 g or 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables 15 ml or 1 tbsp Knorrox Vegetable Curry Stock Powder
PREPARATION Cook the potatoes with boiling water until soft. Drain and mash with the 15ml margarine and milk. Season with pepper. For breadcrumbs, bake 2 slices of bread until golden, let it cool and grate them to create crumbs. In another saucepan, sauté the onion with oil and add the grated tomatoes, cook for 10 minutes. Add the pilchards with the sauce then mix in the vegetables. Cook for a further 5 minutes. Sprinkle the Knorrox Vegetable Curry Stock Powder. Remove from the heat/stove. Spoon the mixture into a greased casserole dish and top with the mashed potatoes. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs on top. Preheat the oven to 180 °C and bake uncovered for 15 minutes until crunchy and golden.

Zani bloos " Dis nie nuus nie jy weet ons is 'n item" Dirk knik sy kop "Ja ek weet en 'n maand terug het Belinda nog aan sy lippe gehang" "Ja en so what?" :Dirk vererg hom "Niks so what nie jy't het agter Belinda se rug 'n move op hom gemaak. Wat dink jy dink die anders girls van jou. Weet jy wat noem hulle jou. Die seuns dink nou jy is losser as 'n stukkende wasgoedmasjien" Zani staan op en druk haar vinger teen sy bors "Dink jy ek gee om Dirk ek en Jacques is lief vir mekaar" Dirk lag "Lief jy's mal man Jacques is net vir een ding lief en sodra hy dit kry beweeg hy aan" Zani draai om en loop weg" Whatever Dirk moenie jou personal issues met Jacques my problem maak nie!" Dirk loop agter haar aan "Watse issues nogal" Zani draai terug "Jy weet die rumour loop dat jy die eerste Hoofseun gaan wees wat nie die Eerste span kaptein gaan wees nie. Blykbaar is Jacques net te groot en te goed vir jou" Dirk vou sy arms " Rerig, is dit so kom ons kyk of dit wel die geval gaan wees.
