It was definitely good to build a foundation and it set a standard that excites me. It really calmed my nerves being able to start early, and I just feel way better prepared.

One of my favorite parts of the community that MSU has built within the Honors College is that anytime I need help or have questions, there’s always someone to go to, and that’s been helpful on such a large college campus... It’s given me the opportunity to explore different avenues I’m interested in since we don’t have the same prerequisites as other students.

As part of the Academic Scholars program, you have the chance to apply for the Summer ACE Program - Accelerating Connections and Excellence, which welcomes a select number of incoming Academic Scholars to participate in a seven-week hybrid honors class and program. MSU Honors College staff and faculty offer guidance on the academic and social transition to the university, and further introduce up to 35 Academic Scholars to resources and opportunities available on and off campus.
Build connections with students and faculty through an honors course and get acclimated to your new community early by living on campus for one week in July, all while taking advantage of a reduced summer course tuition rate.

As a first-generation student, the program helped me gain a sense of what college is actually like because I don’t have any background on that from my parents. The program has really set the foundation for progress when the semester starts.
