Accessibility Tools Built Into Windows 11

Accessibility for Everyone

Accessibility tools are built into Windows 11 to meet the needs of users with a variety of disabilities. However, those same tools can be beneficial for many students for many reasons when we think about Universal Design.

Remember these tools are already built into the computer AND they are free. We just need to help make students aware of these tools.

Zoom can be used to enlarge the content of your screen. You can use Zoom to magnify your screen in three different ways: full screen, picture-in-picture, and split screen.

Spoken Content

Background sounds help minimize distractions and increase your sense of focus, calmness, and rest to the tune of distant rain or ocean waves. These sounds can also mix into or duck under other audio and system sounds that are playing through your device.

Hear your entire screen read aloud with Speak Screen. Control speech playback with Speech Controller. Or use Speak Selection to have a specific range of text read to you. Then follow along as Highlight Content accentuates words or sentences as they’re spoken.
