Just as the Elevated West Line once provided goods to the people of Manhattan, the Urban Farmer strives to do the same through its use of green space and hydroponics. Our design allows for a diverse and harmonious flow of users from the High Line to the ground. Additionally, The Urban Farmer provides a large gathering space for community events that give back to the people of Manhattan. Our intent behind the Urban Farmer lies strongly in the effort to expand biodiversity in the Upper West Side, provide food through rainwater collection, and create a space where humans and nature can thrive

The Zydeco Sun Pavilion offers an immersive experience that pays homage to Zydeco music and culture through its contemporary design and use of light and shadows. Drawing inspiration from this unique genre, the pavilion’s architectural elements mimic the pattern of accordion bellows, casting the changing shadows of the sun as it rises and sets. As the sun moves across the sky from east to west, each beam produces ever-changing shadows creating a heightened awareness of time resembling all the ways in which Zydeco music transcends time, providing unity within the community.

This installation was design to honor the historical and cultural significance of the LSU Campus Mounds Suspended within the wooden structure are hand crafted yarn lanterns symbolizing significant colors in Native American culture These hung lanterns are shaped to frame the right mound, which sway in the wind creating an immersive experience bringing the installation to life As the wind moved through the structure, it created a dynamic, living effect, drawing attention to the natural historical beauty of the sight.
