is a unique opportunity for students to be accepted into medical school their freshman year in college!

YOURS TO LOSE PROGRAM Missouri Southern State University has partnered with the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences to develop the Yours to Lose – Advanced Medical School Acceptance Program. Students accepted into the program will be admitted to KCU medical school’s Joplin campus at the same time they are accepted to Missouri Southern.

This exclusive partnership creates a seamless transition into medical school through an accelerated, three-year program.

Taught by scholarly and real-world field experts, students will have access to both MSSU and KCU faculty during their undergraduate career, as well as use of newly renovated chemistry and biology labs, along with one of the largest undergraduate cadaver labs in the region. General education courses are focused around medical-school preparation with customized curriculum that will provide a critical foundation.

After receiving their bachelor’s degree in biology, students will then transition to KCUJoplin to finish their medical degree.

*Fulfills UE 100 requirements. **YTL students will participate in international study experiences. Topics may vary as well as the specific semester in which an international opportunity is offered. Students may apply for travel grants for this course; travel grants are not guaranteed and students will be responsible for paying expenses. If a student cannot participate in an international study course, an alternate global experience must be approved as part of the curriculum.

ACT composite of 28 with a math subscore of 22 or SAT composite of 1310 with a math SAT of 520

•

Cumulative GPA of 3.7 and a 3.5 in math and science courses on an unweighted 4.0 scale

•

Evidence of extracurricular activities, with an emphasis in community service and leadership

•

Completion of a minimum 3 years of mathematics-including algebra and trigonometry

•

Completion of a minimum 3 years of sciences-including biology and chemistry
