ississippi Market highlights local foods yearround, but in August, at the height of our growing season, we give special attention to the freshest, best, and most delicious local products. Together with food co-ops around the country, we are again hosting Eat Local, America! this month and invite you to enjoy and discover more local foods from our surrounding region. Mississippi Market defines local as food and products grown, produced or processed within the 5 state area— Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and the Dakotas. You may have seen our new “Discover Local” stickers—these help call attention to all the local products on our shelves. Look for this image throughout our stores to help you find the local items we carry. As always, our staff is happy to answer questions and make recommendations on new and delicious foods to try.

The Eat Local Challenge Try one meal a week, one meal a day, or go all in with 100% of your meals made with local ingredients. Find a local, in-season substitute for your breakfast banana, or re-do a family favorite recipe with local foods. You set your own goal—the point is to recognize and celebrate the joys of fresh-picked flavors while supporting local foods and farms. We’ll help you along the way with recipes, classes, farmer profiles, and samples. Sign up at
