Area museums can help do just that … transport visitors to a time filled with dinosaurs, farming implements and fields of cotton now replaced with a buzzing urban metropolis. With museum month approaching, April offers a great opportunity to uncover some special exhibits and museums

within easy driving distance. Collin County Historical Society and Museum The Collin County Historical Society and Museum is featuring a special exhibit, The Vietnam Syndrome, through November. The Farmersville Chamber of Commerce is getting ready to kick up its heels at the annual banquet and they’re inviting their closest friends to join them. Their annual banquet, awards and live auction will take place starting at 7 p.m. April 18 at the Longhorn Hill Ranch Party Barn. “We are two weeks away from our banquet and it’s going to be a great time,” President Clay Potter said. For those curious what the banquet will be like Potter describes it as resembling the County Music Awards Ceremony where everyone can wear boots and jeans and be comfortable. Those unfamil-

iar with the locale may be surprised to walk into an old barn. “It’s got a cool, laid back country atmosphere where people can just be comfortable,” he said. At this year’s annual banquet the chamber will peel back the layers of 2014 to present the Distinguished Onion Awards to so many who make Farmersville what it is today. “Each chamber member that is in attendance will be recognized in a fun way,” Potter said. Awards for the Citizen of the Year, President’s Award, Firefighter and Police Officer of the Year will also be given. During the event everyone will be able to enjoy a laid See CHAMBER page 2A
