Leisure House 01

“Leisure house” wants to create happiness, hope, and memory for the children deprived of a safe and tensionless environment. They have always been ignored and didn’t have opportunity to study in an educational place. The main focus of this complex is on practical skills, hygiene, social communications , playing, and excitement. It is a good chance to help them to be safe from psychological injuries and the hurts of the community. Here they can get away from dark society and touch the emotions of childhood for a few hours.

The complex includes three parts. In the western part, I considered a curtain wall to allow children to look toward the nearby parks. But in the eastern section, due to the disturbances of the commercial environment, volumes are rigid and look at the inner courtyards.

The western section, which is for children, has a free and flexible geometry to provide a limitless world for kids. In contrast, in the eastern part, the classrooms have a regular arrangement to teach order and obedience to the rules to juveniles.

Nature have an effective presence as a living element in improving the quality of the spaces. These courtyards provide light, views and natural ventilation from the inner environment of the complex. They also create an opportunity for children to play outdoors.

This interactive and fexible classroom has a curtain that can be opened and closed to be a public or private class. Social communication skills are taught in this class.

A large ring on the second floor allows children to run without restrictions. Moreover, multiple mezzanines create variety between the classes and attempt children to discover the spaces curiously.

The large central courtyard is a place for holding events, annual celebrations, sports competitions, street theaters and community activities. Here, different age groups communicate with each other.

Details of parapets

In the design of the furniture and details of each part, I used the same language with the concept of that section. For instance, in the kid’s section, the parapets allow children to play with them. Or in the central part, I considered metal punch material to design benches and parapets.

The sliding openings provide suitable natural ventilation and air circulation in the hot season of the year.

Spider glass was a good response for transparency in the western part. But I faced a problem, the glass columns on the ground floor are dangerous for children who play, and they may climb them. Thus, I used the beams that are cantilevered from the first floor to keep the columns above the ground.

At the entrance of the complex, the structures and facilities are expose to show the hard work that the building does to stay stable, like child labor that work hard to protect themselves and their families.

Mitoshi Church 02

Mitoshi Church is located on the hills of Mount Agora, close to the Sagano bamboo forest. the oldest and bigest bamboo forest in Japan. In Japanese, Mitoshi means outlook. An Outlook over the Agora heights. The structure is comprised of only two local materials, bamboo and rope. Because of this, the church is considered a live member of nature in Agora forest. moreover it can minimize the cost of preparing and transporting required materials.

The project land is near the Caspian Sea in a green town in the north of Iran. The owners were four married brothers who considered this villa as a location for their family parties. They emphasized that interior spaces seem large and tempt the residents to interact more with each other. In the project site, there were three old palms and keeping their position was vital. Attention to the interaction between the building and the surrounding nature and its residents was what I was looking for in this project.

At first, I divided the building into two parts, the public, and private sections. The public zone is a natural base with stone material that starts from the yard and penetrates the interior space. The glass box is a boundary between the inside and outside. As a result of this formation, the residents in the interiors have a sense of being in nature.

In the interior design of the ground floor and basement, I used natural materials such as stone and wood and colors with a gray theme, but on the first floor, I utilized white cement with a modern appearance. Also, unlike the rough volume of the ground floor, the upper box has soft corners. As a result, These two volumes are completely different from each other.

I tried to make the spaces appear large and emphasize group interactions by minimizing the number of walls and creating continuity between the interior spaces. The fireplace in the basement allows residents to communicate with each other.

Liko School 04

“Liko” is the most significant mode in the music of Northern Baluchistan. The village is a deprived region in Sistan province. We designed a school that is in harmony with the climate by inspiring local architecture. Since the site is in a remote village, we had to limit the cost of using energy, machines, and materials to the lowest amount. Furthermore, we were looking for a formal language to be used later for the architecture of other parts of this village.

Sistan province is located in the south of Iran. At the local architecture of the hot and dry regions of Iran, dome roofs have a prominent presence in the architectural structure of houses and public centers such as mosques and schools.

Due to the intense sunlight in these areas, the domed roof causes half of the roof to be in the shade during the day. In addition, It makes a strong atmosphere inside the building because of the increase in the height of the roof. Another reason for using a dome roof in these areas is the limited access to materials that are suitable for flat roofs such as wood and metal.

35
Persian architecture Dome of Iskander Prison, Yazd

We used local materials such as clay and brick, which can be processed from the soil of the close areas. During the day, the clay act as an insulator because of its high heat capacity.

In these areas, the cool air is close to the ground. So we utilized straw entrances, openings in the body, and the blades in the corridors to create wind tunnels. Therefore cool air can enter the classrooms easily. Then, after warming up, the air comes out of the opening in the roof.

The domed roof reduces the intensity of the sunlight by refracting the light and creates good lighting in the classrooms. Besides, Half of the classroom ceiling will always be in the shade.

In the western part, we considered a circular and multifunctional space to create a appropriate place for the events and playing in a semi-open space.

We considered the Sandbag technique for the construction system. In this method, we pour the soil into a sack and stack the soil bags with barbed wire mortar. So it is possible to create any forms. It can reduce the cost of materials and machines because of the ease of manufacturing. This method helps local people to participate in construction.
