A Lucky Cat

Page 1

I’m a cat, a totally typical cat. A totally typical cat, who does totally typical cat things. Like eating,

watching the birds,

and, my absolute favourite, playing with the string.

But that all changed the day my human didn’t come home. For the first time ever, I had no one to bring me my lunch.

So I went to the kitchen.

But without claws, I had no way to open the cans of food.

And that’s when I had an idea…

To jump out the window.

And what I found, was that the outdoors were much different from the indoors.

The smells were strange, the sounds a bit too loud, but I have to admit that the sunshine felt fantastic on my fur.

However, I had to keep moving.

The only problem, was that I had no idea where to go.

Luckily though, I found a group of cats.

“Hello fellow cats. Pardon the interruption, but I seem to have found myself in a bit of a pickle.”
“You see, my human, who hasn’t been home in quite a while, forgot to leave me my lunch.”
“As I’m sure you could guess, I’m feeling utterly starving.”
“So, if you wouldn’t mind, could you ask your human to bring me something to eat?”
“Utterly starving! Ask our human! Something to eat! Don’t you see that we’re street cats!? We don’t have a human. We have to find our own food.”
“Like this.”
“Ummm... No thank you.”
“But sometimes, when we’re lucky, like this.”

“So here’s the plan. We hoist you up, and you grab the food, easy-peasy.”

“And... You’re sure that’s safe?”

“Of course we’re sure. You’re a cat, cat’s always land on their feet. What could go wrong?” But then, all of a sudden...

A human grabbed my arm and pulled me inside. As you can probably tell, I was in complete shock!

The human played with my necklace, picked up a phone, and spoke. But since I don’t speak human, I have no idea what they said.

Then, I was put into a car and driven away. I was tired, hungry, and all together homesick.

But when we stopped I looked up, and there was my human! We were back at home.
I guess they’d gone out to get a new boot and walking stick. A bit rude, but at least I had some lunch.

When I sat down to rest though, I felt different. I thought about the street cats and realized something. Maybe, I’m not a typical cat. Maybe, I’m a lucky cat.
