Notes From The Authors Well then... an indefinite number of delays later and here we are.

Sorry this took so long. After running at a somewhat constant pace ever since april, once the graduation ceremony was held on MS Teams, all motivation and momentum vanished and I was stuck in a slump.

Since then I would occasionally open up this massive file and do small adjustments and a month later finally started working on it for real again.

Anyways, here it is, Hope this gets a passing grade (but what doesn’t in this school?) :) Mohaimin Channa As soon as school shut down in March we knew that we won’t be having a real graduation. And that meant that we won’t get to make so many of the memories that every high school graduate cherishes. It was then that we decided to make this yearbook and the senior video (that was released during the online graduation) in order to commemorate the memories we were able to have before Covid-19.

We hope that this yearbook is something that allows to look back on the good times you had with friends in Manarat.

Mohamad Ammar “May we forever remember that in each and every moment, we are composing the stories of our lives. Let’s aim to make it a meaningful read; or at least, an interesting one.” Richard Brown (Johnny Depp) from The Professor For me, releasing this yearbook marks the end of my journey at school. It was real fun making the senior video and the yearbook with the people I got to work with. Also, I think it’s time I thank the rest of the seniors for making this year, and all of the previous years so very memorable.

As parting words of wisdom, I once again quote Richard Brown from the movie The Professor, who said, “I beg you, not to give into mediocrity, like the other 98% of the world.” Be different guys, leave your mark on the world.

A MESSAGE FROM THE VP In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Beneficent.

Praise be to the Lord of all creation. May Allah raise our Prophet Muhammad in praise and increase him in protection, his family and all of his Companions, may Allah be pleased with them all.

It was with great pleasure that Mr Raad and I have been given the opportunity to present a few words about the MRIS graduating class of 2020, may Allaah bless and preserve them all upon goodness. I have taught many of the students during their time in the school and it is with a lot of pleasure and satisfaction that I have seen them develop into the future university students and professionals they are today.

To see these young men mature, to go from trouble making youngsters to prefects and school leaders, is an inspiration to everyone.

This year in particular they have excelled. Our student council was the most successful to date, introducing so many initiatives that will be improving student life for years to come. They've hosted TED like talks, guest speakers, and debates; they've helped break down barriers of stereotypes and cultural ignorance.

I'll remember the field trips and activities with this graduating class — drinking coffee and eating kabsa in the desert, just taking some time out to get to know one another.

I hope that the class of 2020 looks back fondly like I do at the time that they have spent here as they now prepare themselves for the next stage on their path to leading the future world. I hope they will remember the Islamic ethos that the school has nurtured and that they, in turn, nurture themselves and the next generation.

MR HISAM HANI “Graduating and Joining universit� in these circumstances were g�eat challenges for your class. You've passed the bottleneck! Yet, there are more challenges to face in the f�t�re. And you will pass those too In shaa allah.”

MR HISHAM HAMDY “Don’t stop lear�ing.

Your g�aduation or cer�ificate is not the end of your jour�ey because real life lessons will never end.”

MR HASSAAN PIRZADA My advice to myself first and to my dear st�dents who are about to embark on a new jour�ey in their lives is to first and foremost continually st�ive to attain what is more precious than any�hing else... and that is to attain Allaah's love... for as our beloved Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) told us: When Allah loves a slave, He calls out Jibril and says: ‘I love so-and-so; so love him’. Then Jibril loves him. Aſter that he ( Jibril) announces to the inhabitants of heavens that Allah loves so- and-so; so love him; and the inhabitants of the heavens (the angels) also love him and then make people on ear�h love him.

Always be t��e to your deen of al Islaam and remember that it is in your adherence to your deen that you will find honour and you will find that people will respect you no matter where you find yourself.

Be a good example and remember that your actions speak way louder than your words.

“My dear boys you have successf�lly been through the most critical t�r� of your life by g�aduating from your high school and now are on the most delicate path of your life. You had continuous suppor� from your parents and teachers but now you are mostly on your own. Don’t leave the path of your DEEN and always be honest to yourself and ever�one else on this path.

Congratulations!

It has been a pleasure teaching you and I look for�ard to continue this successf�l relationship. I would like to advise you to follow your hear�s in the career paths that you choose. You will encounter many problems in life but you must never let them get to you, you have to stay st�ong and positive; with positive thinking you can achieve g�eat things. Mashallah the st�dents’ batch this year has been one of the best ever and I wholehear�edly believe that all of them will accomplish any�hing they want. Work hard, do not lose yourself and you will accomplish all the goals you set.

MR ABDULMAJID HAJI You have all made plans for your f�t�re, whether its regarding your f�r�her education, your intended job, your family & children and so on. May Allah bless you in all of that.

However, life is not that simple. Many times, those plans will not come to fr�ition or you will also face many hardships & setbacks in pursuit of those that will cause you g�ief and dist�ess. The solution to all of that … is in the speech of Allah, The Almight�, where He says:

ََّ ‫َو َمن َ� َّتق‬ ً‫ٱ� َ�ْ َعل َّ ُ� َ�ْ َرجا‬ … ِ َ َ َّ ْ َ َ َ َ َ ُ َ ْ َ َ ُ ْ َ ْ ُ ْ ُ ْ َ َ َّ � َ‫ٱ�ِ َ� ُهو‬ �‫و�رزقه مِن حيث � َ �� ِسب ومن �تو‬ ّ ُ َُّ َ َ َ ْ َ ْ ُ ٰ َ ََّ َّ ُ ُ ْ َ ً‫� ٍء قَ ْدرا‬ ْ َ �ِ ِ ‫حسبه إِن ٱ� �لِغ أ� ِره ِ قد جعل ٱ� ل‬

“ … and whosoever fears Allah and keeps his dut� to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from ever� difficult�). And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine.

And whosoever puts his t��st in Allah, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allah will ac-complish his pur�ose. Indeed Allah has set a measure for all things” (Surah 65 : ayaat 2-3) Commit this to memor� & apply it.

Debates

‘The Great Debates’ started with training sessions, just like last year.

This was the poster for the final that never happened.

After the training sessions, we started the group stage debates.

The semi-finals attracted a larger audience.

The audiences found the debates engaging.

Both teams were prepared and communicated their points skillfully.

Debaters spoke with both confidence and precision.

The judges took their jobs seriously and did not allow any mistakes.

“It feels so surreal, it feels like there is so long still to go. I’ve been in the school 7 or 8 years now but I just can’t imagine leaving everything behind and moving on to a completely new system and people.”

Lipton Iced Tea Feel The DABBAN!

THE STAGE Mr. Malik gave the first talk on The Stage regarding ‘The Harms of Social Media’.

In the second speech of The Stage, Mohammad Ammar spoke about how ‘School Squanders Creativity’.

Mr. Mutah Beale

Mr. Beale talked about his journey to Islam, beginning as a musician in the U.S.A. to becoming a business executive in Saudi Arabia.

He offered invaluable advice to the students of Manarat.

Dr. Zeeshan Usmani Dr Zeeshan shared his vast knowledge in the fields of data science and artificial intelligenece.

The students were shocked but also intrigued by the power and capabilities of artificial intelligence.

Mr. Suleiman shared his life’s experience and offered beneficial advice to the students of Manarat.

Dawar Feroz highlighted the importance of learning and explained why it is essential.

Yazan Hussain spoke about procrastination and how we can use determination to overcome it.

For the last talk of The Stage, Jasir Syed gave his honest opinion on what it really means to be “successful�.
