The National Youth Activity Team Tournament (NYATT) is the most popular youth event at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. State and regional Quarter Horse Associations across the U.S. and Canada form teams consisting of at least four youth that compete in Barrel Racing, Horsemanship, Hunter Under Saddle, Reining, Showmanship and Western Pleasure. Only contestants 18 years of age and younger, that are sponsored by an association affiliated with AQHA and/or recognized by the NYATT committee, are eligible to show in NYATT events. Teams must consist of a minimum of four youth members and a maximum of 12 members, with no more than two members competing in each of the NYATT classes.

JIM EVANS MEMORIAL TROPHY On June 11, 2013, the MQHA lost a beloved family member with the passing of Jim Evans. Jim was involved in horses for over 40 years and along with partner Mark Toteff of Northfork Farms, bred and raised one of the most iconic quarter horses in AQHA history, Mr. Conclusion. Mr. Conclusion was inducted into the MQHA Hall of Fame in 2000, and the AQHA Hall of Fame earlier in 2014. Jim Evans was personally inducted into the MQHA Hall of Fame in 2005. Jim partnered with Christie Showerman in 1990 and built a training facility in Webberville, MI. Jim and Christie hauled numerous youth and amateurs to many world, national and congress titles. With his big smile and heart, Jim was a familiar figure at all the MQHA Shows. He was a long time board member of the MQHA and an active fundraiser for the association and youth teams. He also helped build the MQHA Stallion Service Sale into one of the premier sales in the country. Jim had a lifelong love of broodmares and babies, especially halter horses. The Jim Evans Memorial “Champion of Champions” class at the MQHA Breeders Futurity was created in Jim Evan’s honor to showcase the “best of the best” weanlings each year.
