FOCUS
STUDENT NEEDS & GRANTS
Donors have the opportunity to designate their dollars to help students in need. Our student needs fund is used to fund various initiatives throughout the district each year from covering the cost of milk tickets, assisting students with the cost of application fees in furthering their education to providing some extra dollars to a family that has fallen to hardship. Teachers and administrators are able to submit student needs applications on behalf of a student, family or group to request dollars from the student needs fund. Since August 2021, the Foundation has disbursed over seven thousand dollars in student needs funding.
HAR & GER HEINSOHN FUND
TEACHER GRANTS
Teacher grants are intended to aid Mandan Public School District educators with educational projects and opportunities that require additional funding. Over the years the Foundation has provided funds to assist educators purchase supplies for their classrooms
"My parents wanted to help children in need to help them succeed at school . The foundation was a perfect fit as we were able to collaborate with the foundation to establish the Har Ger Heinsohn Fund. We were able to donate the money and set the guidelines of how the money would be used The Foundation manages the fund and disperses the money As a counselor in the district, I have seen this fund at work firsthand. Counselors and coaches in the district are able to go to the foundation website to fill out the application and get money to help students with some of their basic needs to help them be successful in school. Students who have been helped range in age from a kindergarten student who needed a winter coat, to 19-year-old students living on their own who needed a gas card to get to school The Heinsohn fund has helped provide funds to families for clothing because of a house fire, money to provide milk in classrooms, shoes and fees so a child could participate in sports and gift card so a student could purchase glasses."
In 2021, Tri-Energy Cooperative approached the Foundation with funds to enhance learning and education in Mandan schools with their Gallons of Gratitude program. The program ensures that for every fill-up at Cenex branded fuel stations, a portion of the transaction will support teachers’ supply and educational experience budgets for their classrooms. The MPS Foundation for Education distributed $24K to Mandan teachers in the 2021-2022 school year.
We're extremely grateful to announce that the Gallons of Gratitude program is once again offered to Mandan educators for the 2022-2023 school year.

FOUNDATION SUPPORT
MPS EMPLOYEE PAYROLL-DEDUCT PROGRAM
The educators and staff at Mandan Public School District are second to none Since 2015, the Foundation has had the privilege of accepting monthly payroll deduction donations from many district employees These generous donations not only give the Foundation the stability of steady income each month, but, more importantly, signify the support and dedication the staff has for Mandan students and schools
"I participate in the payroll deduct program because as an educator, I think it is important to support students across Mandan Public Schools. The payroll deduct program is convenient because I don't have to remind myself to donate, and I know my support is going back to students and teachers like myself."

"After making my home teaching 4th grade at Lewis & Clark Elementary for 20 years, I wanted to pay it forward to kids in our community. I was raised with the belief that kindness and supporting each other are what's important. I'm honored to offer an opportunity to students to receive funds to further their education."
Suzan Mills Retired 4th Grade Teacher Lewis & Clark Elementary
"In my role as a Health Sciences instrucutor and HOSA Advisor, students are given the opportunity to get certifications and attend various events. Because of the generosity of the MPS Foundation for Education, several students were able to receive scholarships to attend a HOSA or other Health Sciences event or get certification through the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support-CPR and First Aid.
Thank you so much for this wonderful organization who puts students learning needs at the fore front of Education."
