As a rival match up across the Kings Birthday weekend was another successful year for the competing clubs. Selling Big Freeze beanies and the crowd pumping it was an amazing day in attendance.

With a line-up out of positions, Sorrento came out firing and were up by 12 goals at the first break. Rosebud acknowledged the first quarter didn’t demonstrate their confidence, it definitely showed throughout the other quarters. As Sorrento had the significant lead, they made changes in each quarter and utilised the rolling substitutions to try and maintain the lead. A comeback by the hosts to be trailing by just 6 goals during the 3rd quarter may have frightened the Sharks, but by the end of the match the strength and experience within the Sorrento side were able to get the team the victory by 10. Brooke Fankhauser and Chelsea Lieshoutour from the Sharks B Grade team both played important halves and impressed on court. The Buds were extremely proud of their efforts and wish to haveonemorecrackagainstSorrentotoshowthem afullfourquarterperformance.

Rosebud will look forward to a close match up with Red Hill after well-earned week off, and Sorrento will need to perform at their best against YCW headliningtheAGradematchofRound11.

Lasttimetheymet,RedHillcamehomewiththewin by8goals.ButwithplayerchangestoDromana,Red Hillcouldbefacedwithadifferentchallenge. Thehostswerequickoffthemarkandlookedstrong andincontrolfromthefirstwhistle.BeforetheTigers could get any momentum, they were trailing by 10 afterthefirst15minutes.ThebreakallowedDromana to regroup and the required changes made to be competitiveinthisgame.

Performing much better as a team and taking some of the control back, the second quarter was owned by the Tigers and they were just 7 down at half time. Red Hill stuck to their same lineup and backed in these seven players to run out the match. The momentum flipped again to the advantage of Red Hill to increase their lead. Winning the third and fourth quarters, and as the final whistle went a winningscoreby13wenttoRedHill,securingthemin 5thposition.

Red Hill stay at home and host Rosebud, while Dromana will head back to Marna Reserve against Bonbeach.

Illness and injury saw a depleted Sharks head to Baxter Park for a Round 10 clash against Frankston Bombers.

After tight first quarter with the scoring relatively even,theSharkscouldnotmatchtheintensityofthe Bombshellswhojumpedouttoa10-goalleadathalf time.Shark’sdefenderBreeLaneputinanimpactful performance and is really beginning to find her feet after a nasty pre-season elbow injury.
