Acrackingstartagainstamuchhigherplacedteam in Seaford saw Rye sitting with a 9-goal advantage after the first 15 minutes of play. Everyone was playing their role beautifully and goalers converted every opportunity following a trial of errors by the hosts.ThedefensivecombinationofSiennaWillsand Kelly Haynes were picking up plenty of ball and looked too tall against Seaford’s moving circle. Still three quarters of play left, Seaford were quick to display why they have been towards the top of the ladder all season and had the scores at 31 all at half time. Charlie Seivers was damaging in defence, frustrating Rye’s goalers and forcing them to miss some shots. Jess Tetley was particularly influential, playing in both GA and C she was creative in her movement and managed to construct some important turnovers. Myah Healey had a terrific outinginGS,astrongtargetunderthepostandshot accurately. Once Seaford took the lead, it seemed the Demons dropped their heads and things start to unravel, unable to deliver a four quarter performance. PEARCEDALE(45)vCHELSEA(39)

As Chelsea came out winners by 15 last time they met, Pearcedale prove to be competitive this season and may acknowledge they should have a couple morewinstotheirnamethanwhattheyhave.

Plenty on the Panthers list to find the right combinations against each different opponent, the first starting seven had an important first quarter to take the lead by 3. Chelsea remained unchanged goingintothesecondquarterastheywereconfident theplayerscouldsettleandreducethesmallmargin. With another 15 minutes of play down, the hosts still heldthenarrowleadby2goals.Ithasbeenthethird quarter named as the most important, that if dominated by a side they would enter the last quarter with essential lead. A 12 goal to 8 third term to the advantage or Pearcedale, was enough when the final whistle came around. In this already close contest, Chelsea could not get enough of the momentum their way to steal the win and will be disappointed with the result. The top half of the ladder in this Division only gets more competitive as thefinalsseriesarealmostatreach.
