Crib Point knew going into this contest Hastings would be slightly undermanned making this a more important to win. Coming out strong in the first quarter set the hosts up with an important 8 goal lead leaving the Blues in chase position. Hastings challenged in the second and third quarters and provided opportunities but couldn't quite convert enough to take the lead. Crib Point maintained a 4goal lead heading into the last 15 minutes. With a number of players helping out this Hastings side, they utilised the rolling substitutions for player management and in hopes to sneak the lead by the end. While the momentum may have been slightly with the visitors, the Magpies managed to hold on winning the last quarter to take a 6-goal win. Hastings best for the match was mid court player Casey Dunstan who stepped into goals for a quarter and managed to convert a couple, and Crib Point reiterate the importance of starting well in the first quarter.

The Magpies will look to have a better performance against Somerville following their Round 1 contest, and Hasting will have another tough week against Seaford.
