Mowden Hall is set in 52 acres of beautiful Northumberland countryside We have an extensive woodland area that is used both formally for educational purposes, and for allowing the imaginations of children to run free as they build dens, camp under the trees, toast marshmallows and learn about nature Our playing fields and sporting facilities are exceptional; the Eco Garden is a place for children to explore and relax, and Tiddlers Corner offers climbing frames, an obstacle course and swings.
A number of teachers and staff members live on site, in a number of flats, houses and cottages. Boarding duties are carried out by the staff members who live here, enabling the children to feel a sense of community. During the weekends, while the boarders enjoy the grounds, they will often come across families in their gardens or walking in the grounds with their dogs. This feeling of belonging is part of our ethos and enables us to build strong relationships with the pupils we care for.
Mowden’s aim is to provide a first class education, in which every child is given the opportunity to achieve their potential within a broad range of academic, cultural and sporting pursuits
Above all, we believe that our high ideals, excellent pastoral care and traditional family values help Mowdenians to grow up happily and honourably, with self-respect, confidence and a strong sense of responsibility and consideration for others and the wider community
Mowden Hall is committed to maintaining our reputation as a caring, happy and creative school wherein each child is valued and encouraged to maximise all opportunities on offer.
At Mowden Hall, safeguarding is our highest priority and everyone at our school has a responsibility to safeguard children All staff receive safeguarding training The whole school Safeguarding Policy can be found on the School website (www.mowdenhallpst.org).

We will all LISTEN if you come to tell us about them It is ALWAYS better to talk about things before they grow too large!

These are kept to a minimum and are based on safety and common sense It would not be possible to list all the rules here, but these are some of the important ones.
● Children are expected to respect each other, and every child has the right to expect to have a happy life at School
● Children are expected to respect other children’s belongings Please do not borrow other children’s property without express permission to do so
● Children should be polite and courteous at all times. In particular, you are expected to stand up when a visitor enters the room and to open doors for adults Also, you should remember to greet visitors cheerfully – do not ignore them!
● There are special rules applying to various parts of the School (e g Swimming Pool, Science Lab etc) These are posted on the boards and you should read them carefully
● Children should not bring mobile phones, electronic games (i.e. Game Boys, PSPs etc.), radios and knives into school
● Kindles (including Kindle Fires) may be brought into school, but the settings must be such that children can only read on these devices
● Money should not be brought to school If children receive any money they should hand it in to the Boarding House or the Office for safe keeping. Pocket money may be needed for special occasions (Leavers’ camp, trips out etc) but parents will be advised of this in advance

We have a Parental Complaints and Procedures Policy available on our website, wwwmowdenhallpst org
If you have a complaint about any aspect of your child’s life at school, please contact an appropriate member of staff as soon as possible We take complaints seriously and follow them up promptly, following the procedure set in our Parental Complaints and Procedures Policy We know that things can go wrong, and we want to be able to resolve them.
Two things tend to make parents and pupils reluctant to express concerns:
● A fear that the School won’t see the issue as important; if it is important to you, it is important to us.
● A concern there may be repercussions for the pupil; this should not be a factor.
Under no circumstances will the School discriminate against a pupil because of expressions of concern or complaint. We are also very experienced in ensuring that, if other pupils are involved, there are no repercussions from other quarters.
For us to deal with problems, we need to know about them The earlier we know about problems, the more likely we are to be able to resolve them satisfactorily. In dealing with these matters, we recognise the importance of confidentiality, fairness and ensuring that no-one suffers unjustly Complaints will be resolved either to the complainant’s satisfaction, or with an otherwise appropriate outcome which balances the rights and duties of pupils.
This depends on the nature and seriousness of the concern, but the following is a guide:
● For a minor day-to-day matter, the right person is likely to be your child’s Form Teacher. They will either resolve the matter themselves or contact/seek advice from their line manager.
● For a more serious concern, please contact the Deputy Head, who may liaise with other members of staff
● If you still remain dissatisfied, then contact the Head of Mowden Hall School, in writing, at Mowden Hall School, Newton, Stocksfield, Northumberland NE43 7TP
The School website is an important part of the School’s communication and contains information that is useful for current parents including the latest school news. The website has up to date information including term dates and calendar of events You will also find photographs and news on current happenings on the schools social media accounts We are also open to suggestions as to what information you might find useful, so please do not hesitate to contact us
As stated in our Safeguarding Policy, children must not bring mobile phones or other devices to school that can take photographs or access the internet. E-safety is very important to us. We teach children about staying safe online throughout our PSHEE and IT curriculum. We use a clear set of rules and ensure supervision when children are using technology at school The school uses filters to ensure safety.
We are committed to providing an education which gives every pupil equal access to learning opportunities regardless of race, culture, disability or social class We have an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy and, unless there is a sound organisational reason to do so, no differentiation is made between boys and girls. We aim to prepare our children for life in a multicultural society by creating and maintaining a nurturing and caring environment for all members of our school community. We pay due regard to the Equality Act 2010.
We have a number of policies and procedures in place to ensure the safety of your child whilst they are attending the setting: The School is locked and open by keypad only throughout the day It is very important that the door code is not shared with anyone not connected to the school
● Visitors are required to sign in and wear an identification badge.
● The statutory requirements regarding the safer recruitment of new staff and volunteers are adhered to, including the use of enhanced DBS checks
● We have a Missing Child Policy which details the procedure to be followed in the event of a child going missing. This policy is on the website
● We have an agreed procedure to be followed in the event of a parent or nominated carer failing to collect a child at the appointed time, which is detailed below.
● All external doors are coded.

Your child’s Form Tutor plays a vital role in helping them to get the best out of each day at school. Their role is both academic and pastoral, and they are an essential link between school and home The Form Tutor should be your first point of call if you need to pass on information or discuss a concern. Children are encouraged to discuss any concerns that they might have with their Tutor; however, they are of course free to talk to other staff members if they would prefer For academic concerns, parents may initially wish to contact their child’s subject teacher, Form Tutor, or the Deputy Head, Mr. Hadfield.
There will be tests throughout the School year, particularly at the end of each topic However, the main School exams are:
Autumn Term
Spring Term
Summer Term
Year 8 - Practice Examinations
Year 8 – Some Senior School Scholarships
Year 8 – Mock Examinations
Year 8 - Some Senior School Scholarships
Year 7 - School exams in all subjects
Year 8 - Common Entrance exams
Years 3–6 - School exams in all subjects.
Before each set of exams, there will be a part of the term designated as revision time It is important for children to realise, from the start of their school career, that success in exams requires careful and organised revision beforehand
This area includes both extending those who show talent in an area of learning and helping others who have difficulties with learning We strive to get the best out of each individual pupil and will present extended opportunities to those who need it The teaching assistants are there to help all pupils, working with individuals or in small groups to maximise learning across the ability range
Children with potential learning difficulties are pinpointed at a very early stage. They are carefully monitored and may, with parental agreement, be referred to Educational Specialists outside the School
The SEND department helps children with dyslexia and other learning difficulties. If members of staff have any cause for concern over a child they will initially refer to the SEND lead. Parents will then be asked whether they would like us to arrange this assessment No further action will be taken without parental consent.
The School will make reasonable adjustments to make sure disabled students are not discriminated against If a child has an Educational Health and Care Plan this will be reviewed with their parents termly. There is one annual review where the EHC plan is rewritten for the next year and amendments are included This is a multi-agency review and involves everyone involved in the care of the child and also an officer from the local authority.
The School has a Learning Support Unit where children identified with specific learning difficulties and disabilities can be given help If members of staff have any cause for concern over a child, who is at risk of not making expected progress, they will initially refer to Miss Milburn (Head of Learning Support). If she considers that there is a need for an assessment, she will discuss the matter with staff and will then talk to parents to ask whether you would like us to arrange this assessment. No further action will be taken without your consent. Many staff also work closely with Miss Milburn in providing support for children through regular Booster Groups and class-based support
The School has clear provision for able, gifted and talented pupils We will aim to create a curriculum of opportunity within the most appropriate learning environment so that all our pupils will progress as rapidly as possible We aim to create the widest possible variety of learning opportunities which recognise the different individual learning needs of all our pupils, in terms of speed, style, interests and abilities.
We aim to ensure the provision for A G & T pupils in our care through:
● Access to a range of learning opportunities appropriate to their needs
● Opportunities to work at higher cognitive levels
● Opportunities to develop specific skills, talents or abilities
● A concern for the development of the whole child: social, emotional, moral, physical, creative and spiritual as well as intellectual
Able pupils
‘Able pupils’ refers to students who achieve, or have the ability to achieve, above average (compared with the attainment of other students in their year group at Mowden Hall) in one or more subject areas
Gifted pupils
Gifted refers to students who achieve, or have the ability to achieve, significantly above average (compared with the attainment of other students in their year group at Mowden Hall) in one or more of the subjects other than art, performing arts or physical education.
Talented pupils
Talented refers to those students who achieve, or have the ability to achieve, significantly above average in art, performing arts, physical education or in areas requiring visio-spatial skills or practical abilities (these could include a range of non-traditional areas)
According to Renzulli (1986) giftedness not only involves above average ability but also involves task commitment and creativity Task commitment and creativity have been included for the following reasons:
To identify those who are working within this range, we consider a wide range of evidence
Do pupils show:
● the capacity for high levels of interest, enthusiasm, fascination and involvement in a particular problem, area of study, or form of human expression.
● the capacity for perseverance, endurance, determination, hard work, and dedicated practice Setting high standards for their work; maintaining openness to self and external criticism; developing an aesthetic sense of taste, quality, and excellence about their own work and the work of others
● fluency, flexibility, and originality of thought
● openness to experience; are they receptive to that which is new and different (even irrational) in thought, action, and product of themselves and others
● curious, speculative, adventurous, and "mentally playful" ideas; they are willing to take risks in thought and action

We provide for our A G & T pupils using a wide variety of methods At all times, classroom teachers ensure that all children are given work that is suitably challenging, enabling each one to achieve his or her potential. Subject leaders develop schemes of work that outline provision for the most able pupils
We also look to build explicit enrichment into the day to day life of the school The purpose of enrichment/extra-curricular provision is to provide opportunities for able pupils to use their skills in areas outside of the national curriculum. Such activities may include: Maths challenges, specific clubs, school productions, theatre visits, creative workshops, inter-house general knowledge quizzes, visiting speakers/authors, lectures and visits to senior schools/universities. We also enter local and national competitions aimed specifically at able students. The options are many and varied
Within the classroom, subject teachers will develop differentiated tasks, including homework, to include activities that will develop the higher order thinking skills of analysis, hypothesis, synthesis and evaluation They may deliver tasks that offer choice and negotiation, ensuring that pupils are able to work according to their strengths, interests and abilities. There are ample opportunities for small groups of similar ability children to work together and there is targeted intervention and feedback that offers challenge and extension, and initiates a meaningful dialogue. Throughout the curriculum, we provide opportunities for children to tackle abstract tasks and transitional tasks, involving manipulation and transformation of information Multi-faceted and divergent tasks, which allow pupils to make connections and move in a range of directions are often highly effective in meeting needs Open-ended tasks provide opportunities for pupils to gain greater independence and to make significant mental leaps
The key is that in all instances planning and delivery is bespoke to the child's needs and we are flexibly reflective in our classroom provision for pupils of all abilities.
We are fully committed to the value and importance of digital learning in the curriculum, and the Chromebook has proved itself as an essential tool in that mission The option for pupils to use a Chromebook device of their own at school, has been available for a number of years now, helping to transform and enhance the educational experience enjoyed by the pupils, especially during periods of lockdown. Their ease of use, reliability, performance, central management and affordability make them the device of choice for schools, and it is our longer term vision for all pupils to have their own device in order to make the most of their education at Mowden Mowden Hall pupils use their Chromebooks at school and at home for lessons, preps and other supervised activities As Chromebooks have become a staple part of our school life, it has become more necessary than ever before that each child has a device of their own The children have definitely found it useful to have their own Chromebook that they can use both at school and at home to support them with their studies Essentially, Chromebooks are now part of our school equipment list, as important as stationary or games kit. We will still have a number of devices on hand to be used in case a device is out of action, though these will be held in school for emergency use only
With this in mind, the following two options may be of interest to parents:
1 Children whose parents have previously purchased a Chromebook for them may now bring it to school and use it in lessons. Before use, our IT department will set up Management and E-safety systems including installing the Filtering, Monitoring, and Classroom Management tool Go-Guardian
2. Parents are able to purchase a Chromebook for their child from the Prep Schools Trust (more information please contact Mr Hartley)
We live in a digital age and these are exciting times in which to be a student. It is our firm belief that a Chromebook in the hands of every pupil will greatly enhance their learning journey We encourage you to visit our Chromebook site, even if just to learn a bit more about this unrivalled educational device, and we invite you to send any questions that you might have to ihartley@mowdenhallpst org
Reporting at Mowden is a thorough and ongoing process We have several formal touch points over the course of an academic year. Equally, we pride ourselves in the informal and ongoing communications we have with our parents Reports are delivered via our Parent Portal
We have a Half Term report (effort grades and a tutor report) and then an End of Term report
This End of Term report is fuller and contains subject reports, instrumental reports, SEN reports, Tutor Reports and a Head’s Report. We also report on academic standing by the use of PSTQ Quartiles and a reference point to national age related expectations These are explained later.
Year 8 pupils also have their Practice Exam scores reported There is also a Year 8 parents’ consultation to discuss their progress. Years 3 and 4 also have a parents’ consultation in addition to these written reports We feel this additional opportunity to meet and discuss is invaluable for the younger pupils.
During the Spring Term, the written reports are predominantly replaced by parent-teacher consultations.
At Half Term, there are effort grades and tutor reports. All Year groups have a parent-teacher consultation Year 8 will also have their Mock Exam results reported once they are completed
At the end of the term, there will be a larger set of written reports, as per the Autumn Term, but without the subject reports, which have been covered during the earlier consultations.
In the final term, there are Half Term reports with effort grades and tutor reports. There are whole school examinations after Half Term, and these are reported upon also via an exam score sheet. At the end of the Summer Term, a full set of reports go home as per the Autumn Term.
The effort of each pupil is assessed ipsatively, focusing on the individual’s personal profile and past performance and we apply numbers in the report to express this
1 Excellent: He/she tries exceptionally hard and makes the most of his/her potential
2 Good: He/she tries hard and often makes the most of his/her potential
3 Satisfactory: He/she works to a satisfactory level and is making progress. Further effort would be desirable and they tend to be doing the minimum to get by.
4
Unsatisfactory: He/she is not trying hard enough with his/her work and could do better if they tried harder
At Mowden we sincerely hope that all pupils aim to give at least a Good level of personal effort –if they do this then their progress is assured The focus is always on the individual’s potential and we take a range of factors into account when reaching our judgements. Often, early on in the year, 1s and 2s can be tricky to acquire, due to the need to accumulate evidence to support a ‘Good’ or ‘Excellent’ judgement
We employ grades of P, S, T and Q These letters refer to each pupil’s relative quartile position in their taught group for any particular subject: P stands for Primary, S is Secondary, T is Tertiary and Q is Quaternary These grades will be given out at the end of terms, with the exception of the longer Autumn Term, where they will also be given at Half Term.
We have found it to be far more informative and useful than a traditional letter based system which has no fixed point of reference. All schools tend to experience a form of inflation when it comes to using a letter based system, causing inaccuracies and vagueness when it comes to expressing academic performance. There is a particular reluctance to use the extremities of the system: As and D/Es. However, using specific and trackable assessments, based on the work the pupils are currently working on, allows for a far more transparent and reliable expression of their current performance.
Quartile
P Primary
S Secondary
T Tertiary
1st Quarter
2nd Quarter
3rd Quarter
Q Quaternary 4th Quarter
If a pupil receives a T you will know that they have performed within the third quartile for that round of assessments to date. So, in a class of 12 pupils, they will have been placed 7th-9th in their class If they are given a P in the same class, you will know that they came 1st-3rd There will be, as far as is practicable, an even number of PSTQs. These grades will be based purely on specific assessments of current work So, if you ever want an explanation of their grade, then teachers will be able to give detailed feedback, referring to the assessments carried out.
This grade will be ongoing and cumulative, with each assessment being added to the last This will allow pupils to move between grades if they have stronger or weaker performances. By the end of the year, their final PSTQ will be a very accurate expression of their relative position within their taught group, as it will be an expression of all the assessments to date
Crucially, the PSTQ is not an expression of ability on a standardised scale; it is relative to the class in question. So, for example, if there are two Maths sets, then there will be Ps in both classes, as that would be their relative position within that set Information relating to outright ability and potential CE grades will be gleaned, as it is currently, during our regular meetings, exams and school reports.
We will also report on whether a pupil is: working towards age related expectations (W), at expected age related expectations (E), above age related expectations (A) or at Greater Depth (G) This may also be referenced within a written report or used in discussions at our 1:1 parent meetings
There will be a Parents’ Meeting for each form during the year. On some occasions, the children will perform a short play or Creative Workshop before the meeting. Details of these meetings can be found in the termly calendar online
Any parents who have concerns about their child’s progress, or who would like to meet the teaching staff for any reason, are welcome to arrange a meeting by contacting the relevant form tutor. Parents may also contact the Deputy Head, Mr Hadfield, if they have any questions or concerns that the form tutor may not be best placed to deal with For parents who live abroad, it may be possible for the meeting to be held remotely using a specialist platform, School Cloud.
Self-esteem is fostered through valuing each pupil, encouraging classroom success and developing relationships based on mutual respect. It is very important to both recognise and reward positive behaviour
Outstanding academic work is regularly rewarded publicly The Prep School Assembly is the venue for awarding attainment and effort prizes Regular presentations are made following every round of effort and attainment gradings. Speech Day and Final Assembly prizes include many accolades for academic, sporting, extra-curricular merit and for contribution to School life
This card is carried around by all children with their pencil cases so they should have it on them at most times House points, merits and debits are all signed directly into the child’s card, along with a basic reason for the reward/sanction This has many advantages: it allows the child to see how many merits and house points they have at any given time, why they have received them, and how many they need to reach a reward level
Once a week the Form Teacher records the number of merits, house points and debits onto a central database These then appear on the child’s end of term report
These are awarded for good work in the classroom. A child who receives 10 Merits (and then 20 or 30) will receive a certificate from the Head in Assembly. The child’s parents will also be informed, by the Head, of their child’s success
House Points can be awarded by any member of staff, academic or otherwise, for thoughtful or helpful behaviour. They are there to recognise when children act for the benefit of others. A child who receives 10 House Points (and then 20 or 30) will receive a certificate from the Head in Assembly. The child’s parents will also be informed, by the Head, of their child’s success. At the end of the term the ten children (or equivalent) in the School who have received the most House Points, irrespective of House, will receive their House Colours in Final Assembly
Staff can nominate any child who demonstrates kindness to another member of the School community. Each nominated child receives a wooden ‘ name heart’ which is then added to the MAK frame
In addition, the following rewards are also available:
● Sports awards
● Treat nights - for boarding children (result of receiving a high number of ‘noughts’ in the boarding house)
● House Point Total Board
● Colours
● Final Assembly prizes
● Annual Competitions
● Academic Prizes
This will be to acknowledge an outstanding achievement, for example receiving an excellent effort average, an outstanding piece of work, or commitment to the School. The process for applying for a Head’s commendation is as follows:
● Contact Head with details of possible commendation
● Head will respond
● If approved, a certificate will be presented in Assembly, and parents notified of the achievement (notification will come from the Head)
This will be displayed in the front hall. Any member of staff can nominate a child, or a child can nominate themself or a peer to have an entry in the Book
Debits have two categories: Minor Debits and Major Debits
Minor Debits are given for minor issues, such as:
● Running in a corridor
● Excessive noise
● Poor table manners
● Inappropriate language
● Deliberate tardiness
● Poor standard of appearance
● Recalcitrant behaviour
● Being out of bounds
● Failure to do prep
● Untidiness in Changing Rooms
● Lack of cooperation
● Lack of courtesy
● Disrespectful behaviour
● Breaking safety rules
Major Debits are given for more serious issues, such as:
● Overly physical behaviour
● Offensive language
● Repetition of minor infractions
● Bringing prohibited items into school
● Bullying (including cyber-bullying)
● Deliberately dishonest behaviour
● Disrespect for School property.
Minor debits are recorded in PRAs, but do not need to be worked off This will allow staff to monitor patterns of behaviour and identify any problems at the earliest opportunity. Three Minor Debits will result in a Major Debit being awarded (the count for Minor Debits will return to zero every half term).
Major Debits are recorded in PRAs, and need to be worked off In addition, 3 Major Debits in one week or 5 Major Debits in three weeks will be referred to the Head of Year.
At this stage, the Head of Year will contact parents, and will implement a suitable sanction such as:
● Report card
● Detention
● Loss of privileges
Should the issue not be resolved, the child will then be referred to the Deputy Head
Certain serious incidents go beyond the debit system and these will be reported to the Head / Deputy Head immediately.
All new pupils have guides who will be responsible for making sure that you know where to be during the first two weeks or so. The Heads of School, Heads of House, Heads of Boarding and Lower School Captains are also available to help all new pupils
Day children should bring all their games and outdoor kit into School on the first day of term. This includes towels, wellington boots, boiler suits and coats All this kit stays in school for the whole term and is laundered by the School.
Day children should return to school in full school uniform at the start of each term and when returning from Half Term or Exeats. Boarders, when returning in the evening, may return to school in home clothes
On Friday afternoons, an activities session takes place from 4.00pm – 5.00pm (sign out is at 5 15pm) instead of the normal games programme Examples of activities on offer to the children include woodwork, cookery, cross-country, crafts, golf, gardening, computer coding and tennis. Children choose an activity and stick with this for the term. A form will be sent before the start of each term sharing activity options and requesting your child's preferences Please note that some of these activities are chargeable extras.
There are also clubs on a Wednesday afternoon after games The clubs on offer and the children involved vary depending on which teams are involved in matches on a particular Wednesday afternoon; hence these activities are more fluid Children sign up for these clubs on a weekly basis.
Procedure followed by Staff in the event of Non-Collection of a Pupil not boarding
If a child is not collected within half an hour of the agreed collection time, we will call the contact numbers for the parent or carers During this time, the child will be safely looked after If there is no response from the parent or carer contact numbers by 6.30pm then the child will remain with the Head If there is still no response by 7 00pm then the emergency numbers will be contacted; if there is no response by 8.00pm then the Head will contact the Duty Social Worker. Social Care will make emergency arrangements for the child and will arrange for a visit to be made to the child’s house and will check with the Police We will make a full written report of the incident. We undertake to look after the child safely throughout the time that he or she remains under our care
Boarders with birthdays during term-time have a ‘birthday table’ at supper. The format of the day is as follows:
● ‘Happy Birthday’ is sung by everyone at breakfast and the school bell is rung to celebrate
● At supper, all the boarders in the year group of the ‘Birthday’ child go into supper first, and sit together in the main dining room on a table(s) laid up especially for the occasion
● If the ‘Birthday’ child has any brothers or sisters in the school, they are also invited to join the Birthday table.
● The school will provide fizzy drinks and crisps as a special treat, which will be put out on the table(s).
● Supper is served as normal, and after the main course, everyone sings ‘Happy Birthday’ as a cake is taken to the child, for candles to be blown out
● The cake is then divided up and shared between the children in the ‘Birthday’ year group
Given the most recent legislation regarding food labelling, and an increasingly complex allergen profile amongst our School community, we are now unable to accept birthday cakes or birthday treats, either homemade or commercially made, in School
Mr Pearson, Catering Manager, and his team will prepare one of the following birthday treats for any boarders with birthdays during term-time;
- Chocolate Brownie Stack - Warm Chocolate Brownie, Chocolate Sauce and Ice Cream
- Giant Cookie Cake -Served warm with Ice Cream and Chocolate Chips
- Rainbow Victoria Sponge -Traditional Birthday Cake with Rainbow Icing
Please email mpearson@mowdenhallpst.org a week before your child's big day to order their preferred treat!
Day children should not bring birthday cakes into school.
Boarders are often invited to the day children’s parties at weekends The School is perfectly happy for boarders to attend providing it fits in with the School programme and provided that all boarders in a year group are included. However, please could we ask that the School is given several weeks notice of such events and is involved in the logistics from the outset In particular, please could parents consult the School before invitations are sent out to boarders.
We have several sponsored events during the academic year when we raise money for our selected charity. All contributions are, of course, voluntary but we encourage children to participate in raising money Details of all charity events are notified on the termly Calendar
If any named item is misplaced, then found, it will be returned to the owner Anything unnamed and left unclaimed at the end of term will be given to charity.
School holidays are generous and it is hoped that parents will ensure that they book their family holidays during these breaks so that pupils do not miss important lesson time. Should absence due to holidays be unavoidable during term time, permission from the Head must be sought in advance of booking, in writing or by email, to ensure that the absence is authorised This can be done via the Head’s PA by emailing head@mowdenhallpst.org.
It is the School’s policy not to set work for holidays in term time Occasionally Bank Holidays fall in our term time. School will be open as normal and we would expect children to attend school. These are noted in the termly Calendars and on the schools website Calendar
Parents are asked to observe the one-way system, entering the school via the South drive (off the A69) and leaving via the North drive observing a 5mph speed limit Please park in the woodland car park and walk with your child into the School building. This applies to all children.
Parents are asked to observe the one-way system, entering the school via the South drive (off the A69) and leaving via the North drive observing a 5mph speed limit.
There will always be a member of staff on the main speed bump every morning. Children can be dropped off at this point and make their way into school. Should you wish to accompany your child into school, please use the main car park and accompany them to the main building There are two designated disabled parking bays at the front of the School. If dropping your child at the layby please use the far left to allow traffic to flow through
We have and continue to receive a number of complaints from local residents about the speed at which vehicles leave the North drive Please help us respect our neighbours and avoid accidents Please do not park at the front of school (unless you require a disabled parking space) or tennis courts, as these are busy and potentially dangerous areas
The school takes out personal accident insurance on behalf of all its pupils
These are carried out termly and pupils are made aware of what is required of them Full details of the drills including time, weather conditions and the efficiency of the practice will be kept
We are required by law to bring to the attention of all visitors to the School our arrangements in the event of a fire or other emergency
All hair (if below shoulder-length) should be tied back with green/brown/black accessories. The use of hair products such as gel, dye and wax is not permitted The appearance of our pupils is important and we actively seek to maintain these high standards We would ask parents to support us in this.
The School eats as a community and there is a formal end to every meal. Good manners are encouraged and expected of all children.
At breakfast there is cereal, toast and fruit juice as well as a hot option. At lunch there is a choice of a hot meal or salad and a pudding or fruit There are snacks available during break times, and supper for the boarders in the evening.
As the School prepares and cooks all meals, it is possible to provide for any special dietary requirements Please do not hesitate to get in touch with Nurse Laura (School Nurseldanby@mowdenhallpst.org ) should your child require special provision with regard to religious, dietary, language or cultural needs
Please note, where possible the School is nut free We do not use or store nuts (ground nuts and peanuts). However, some ingredients may contain traces of allergens due to manufacturing processes
Children should not bring toys or other ‘valuable’ possessions to school Their safety cannot be guaranteed and the loss of such precious belongings can cause distress to their owners.
The times for returning to school after Exeats and Half Term are clearly marked in the Calendar
The Autumn Term has four Exeats and a Half Term. There are two Exeat weekends and a Half Term in the Spring and Summer Terms These are clearly marked in the Calendar along with their start times.
At Mowden Hall we aim to provide a warm, friendly and caring boarding environment that reflects the atmosphere and ethos of home. Our objectives are;
● To ensure that each individual boarder feels genuinely cared for
● To ensure that each individual boarder feels safe and secure
● To encourage friendships and develop skills whereby boarders can live together happily and harmoniously
● To provide a relaxed, family environment
● To provide facilities that are clean, modern and cheerful
Children can be Full Boarders, Weekly Boarders, Flexi Boarders or Day Pupils. Children are able to transfer from being Day Pupils to Boarders at any stage, as long as there is space in the Boarding Houses
We have two boarding houses at Mowden, Oak House is the boarding house for boys and Elm House is the boarding house for girls. Both of the Boarding Houses are in the main school building and are separated by the Boarding House Sitting Room. The dorms in each house are named after geographical places in Northumberland Children are grouped together in the dorms by age, however, in the younger year groups they are often combined.
Day pupils can usually be accommodated at school overnight, or several nights, if parents have to go away. Please give the Boarding House staff or Office plenty of notice of any such occasion. There is a charge made for this on the next term’s bill More information can be found in the Boarding Handbook, which will be available on the School website.
Boarders of all ages are welcome to bring their bikes into school. Children must also bring a helmet and a bike lock to school.
It is important that the children adhere to the school rules on uniform:
● Tweeds are worn to school and back EVERY day
● Shirts are tucked in
● Shoulder length hair is tied up neatly, using green/black hair bands. Long fringes are clipped away from the face
● Shoes are polished and tidy.
When ‘Best Kit’ is called for, this means white dress shirts and ties for everyone, and is usually for the more formal occasions. Best Kit includes;
Boys - Tweed, White dress shirt, Mowden tie, Green V-Neck sweater, Navy Cord trousers, charcoal socks and black school shoes.
Girls - Tweed, White dress shirt, Mowden tie, Green V-Neck sweater, Kilt, Navy tights/socks and black school shoes.
Please note Summer uniform begins after the Easter holidays and continues to be worn until October half term. For more information please see uniform lists published on the website.
The School uniform is stocked by a specialist uniform supplier, Stevensons. Uniform should be bought directly from Stevensons This can be done via their website at wwwstevensons co uk or by telephone on 01865 554559 Samples of uniform in different sizes are kept at School if parents would like their children to try uniform on, before ordering it.
It is possible to have your Stevenson purchases delivered to school for collection. They also hold an annual sale at Mowden Hall, usually at the end of June/early July
We have a supply of second hand uniform at school in our Second Chance Shop Our shop aims to raise the awareness of landfill and reduce unnecessary waste The Parents’ Association run termly second hand shop sales and with proceeds going towards the Parents’ Association nominated charity or school project If you require uniform out with of these sales please contact Amanda Miller in the School Office on amiller@mowdenhallpst.org or on 01661 842147 with your requirements

Regular Creative Workshops take place in the Theatre. The Workshops typically last an hour and are an opportunity for children to perform short pieces in front of a small audience in an informal setting. There are usually about twenty pieces performed. Children of all ages are encouraged to perform The School also holds a number of concerts during the year which are marked in the Calendar. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to attend Creative Workshops.
The major games played in the school are: For boys; rugby, hockey and cricket Boys also do football, swimming, athletics, cross-country running and tennis. For girls; hockey, netball and athletics Girls also do rounders, swimming, cross-country running, cricket, and tennis Games take place on a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday On Friday there is an activities session for all children. Saturday games are optional for day children and weekly boarders in all year groups, unless they are selected for a match, in which case they will be expected to stay.
Children will shower following all Games sessions. The boys and the girls have their own dedicated changing rooms and each pupil has their own changing space Younger children are supported by the teaching staff and matrons to organise their belongings and kit.
All parents, guardians, family and friends are invited to watch school matches in which their children are playing. Tea will be provided at Wednesday and Saturday fixtures – usually in the Small Dining Room or Pavilion – after the match Please keep a close eye on the SOCS portal and calendar.
which provides the most up to date information on fixtures that may involve your children This can be found at https://sport.mowdenhall.co.uk. Information will also be shared on the School Calendar and in the Head’s Update
Team lists and details of matches are published on the School Sport website (https://sport mowdenhall co uk) Fixture information can be accessed either via the Sport Calendar or by choosing the specific team your child is involved in (i.e. U10 Netball). Information is added in advance of fixtures so please check this website to find out whether your child will be partaking
The password for accessing team lists on SOCS is Mowdensport (all one word, with a capital M). In order to secure the privacy of our pupils, please do not share this password outside the Mowden community For further information on how to use the SOCS portal, please contact Assistant Head - Co-Curricular, Sam Shaw-Kew (sskew@mowdenhallpst org)
A weekly update is sent towards the end of the week, which highlights any changes or additions to the Calendar. This update also offers a summary of the week at School and contains any important notices that may require action or attention by parents and carers
Any changes will also be updated on the Calendar on the Mowden Hall School website. The SOCS Portal is updated regularly by the Assistant Head Co-Curricular, and provides the most up to date information relating to fixtures.
There are frequent concerts, plays, etc held in the Theatre All parents, guardians, family and friends are very welcome to attend these.
If you wish your child to have individual music lessons, please contact the Director of Music, Mr. Fowlds, directly on mfowlds@mowdenhallpst.org. If required, It may be possible to hire instruments, either from the School or from a local shop – please ask Mr Fowlds for details If your child uses a private instrument, please make sure it is fully insured.
It is important that each child makes the right choice when embarking on their instrumental studies. If, at the end of their first term of study, they decide not to continue with the lessons there is no financial obligation beyond that term Please note, however, once lessons continue into a second term and beyond, a term’s notice will be required in lieu of notice to cancel.
Music lessons take place throughout the day and are delivered by our team of specialist peripatetic teachers. If they are timetabled during normal class time this will be on a rotation so that the same lesson is not missed each week
The School Choir is directed by Mr Warren Smith. The Choir performs at Church Services and at various concerts during the year There is also a Junior School Choir that also perform in many of the concerts.
There are up to twelve different music ensembles that practice and perform during the School week The largest of these is the School Concert Band which is made up of up to thirty children All pupils are encouraged to join an ensemble as soon as they are able, or to create their own group with like-minded peers. The Creative Workshops, held regularly throughout each term, are open to performers at every stage of their development
An added incentive to participate in rehearsals and performances is the Music Millionaire Competition This is a termly competition consisting of an individual challenge (prizes given to
the top 5 earners) and as part of the race to win the House Shield. The Millionaire Cup is awarded to the best House at the end of the year
Mouth guards are an extremely important item and should ideally be bought through a dentist This is fairly expensive, and some ‘fit your own ’ brands are good enough, especially for younger children whose teeth are still moving. We insist that children wear mouth guards for Hockey and Rugby Please make sure that children return to School with a suitable mouth guard, clearly marked. We would not knowingly allow a child to play either Hockey or Rugby unless they have a mouth guard. All children in Year 3 or above must have a mouth guard.
If parents are going to be away from home for any length of time, please inform your child's form tutor or the School Office and advise where you will be and who should be contacted in case of emergency In the event that you are requesting an absence from the School for your children for a reason other than illness, please request permission from the Head in writing giving good notice
Health forms should be completed and returned to school prior to commencement in September These forms are reviewed by our School Nurse, it is essential that the School knows of all medical conditions, allergies, dietary requirements and any other specific health needs so that we can fully support your child.
Health information is passed on to their class teacher and those responsible for taking your child in their various activities Any dietary requirements are also shared with the catering team. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the School nurse directly, Mrs Laura Danby ldanby@mowdenhallpst org
If boarders become ill at school they will normally be cared for in the Sick Bay, though it may sometimes be preferable for them to remain in their own dormitories.
Parents of boarders will always be informed if their child becomes unwell and depending upon the individual circumstances the child may return home to recover or may be cared for in school.
Please telephone by 9.00am on any morning when your day child is unable to come to school because of illness – we are required by law to keep a pupils’ register and to account for absences
Please select ‘Report and Absence’ on the school switchboard and leave a message
If children have a bug that involves vomiting or diarrhoea, we ask that they should not return to School until 48 hours have elapsed since the last occurrence of illness.
On occasion we may have incidence of head lice, worms etc You will be informed by a general email that we have an occurrence of such in school (no child is individually named), however, please check your child for symptoms following these letters, it is the only way we can eradicate these episodes. Weekly and full boarders will be checked for head lice on a weekly basis in school. If your child is a day pupil please can you check their hair weekly at home.
The most up to date government guidance will continue to be followed relating to coronavirus and parents will be updated accordingly
We do not usually administer non-prescription medicines in school However, if we feel that your child would benefit from a non-prescription medication such as paracetamol we will contact you for consent and discuss symptoms further.
All prescription medications required by children should be handed to a staff member by parents and must be named, labelled and in the original packaging. Please complete a controlled medication consent form to provide details of how and when the medication must be administered The medicine will be held in surgery which is locked It will be administered by the school nurse or a member of the boarding team. We would be grateful if parents would keep us informed of any changes of medical health immediately by informing either the Class Teacher or our School Nurse so that medical records can be kept up to date.
Should your child have asthma or allergies requiring regular or emergency medication this will need to be prescribed by a doctor and consent forms completed by parents This medication will be accessible to your child and will accompany them on trips/ sporting activities etc. This will be the responsibility of your child's teacher. Our School Nurse will develop individual health care plans where required
If a child is injured they will be seen and cared for by either the School Nurse or staff on duty in the Boarding House. If a child receives medical care, parents will be informed. If a child is injured and there is any doubt about their condition, he/she will be taken straight to the Urgent Treatment Department, usually at Hexham or the Newcastle RVI and parents will be informed as soon as possible. Accident forms are completed where required and assessed by the school nurse
Preferably, these appointments should be made outside of school hours. If this is not possible, an email in advance addressed to your child’s teacher, with all necessary details, is required.
In addition to trips out of school, staff also arrange for visitors with special knowledge to visit school to speak to the children. Travelling theatres, storytellers and artists also visit from time to time. Parents are encouraged to come into school if they have something to contribute to a topic being undertaken
All children have their own e-mail address. E-mail addresses are made up of their surname followed by their first initial, e.g. bloggsj@mowdenhallpst.org
Registration takes place in both the morning and afternoon sessions We use a computerised registration system with members of staff registering their classes Boarders are registered at supper, and again in the boarding house.
The School day starts with Registration at 8 20am, Day children should be dropped off between 8.00am and 8.15am Children in Years 3 and 4 should go straight to their classroom where their Form Tutor will be there to receive them. This is also an opportunity for parents to talk to their child’s teacher about any relevant points Parents in Year 5 and above are welcome to escort children to their classrooms, but children are generally happy to find their own way by this stage! A member of staff will be present every morning at the drop off point
Day children in Years 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 may be picked up at 5 15pm, 5 45pm (after completing one prep or one activity) or at 6 15pm from the Front Hall On Wednesdays, all day children should be picked up at either 4.00pm or 5.15pm. Timings may change due to Sport Fixtures. Day children should arrive and leave School in full school uniform including their tweed and should be signed out by a member of staff.

Throughout the year there are events to which all parents are invited. Details of each event will be sent in advance, but they include the Carol Service, Invitational Cross Country, Speech Day, Summer Fete and Sports Day.
There are four Houses – Bewick (Blue), Collingwood (Red), Grey (Green) and Stephenson (Yellow). Children are allocated a House on arrival in the Prep School. Children sit with their
Houses at lunch and the Houses take it in turns to do duty days in the School. There are a number of House competitions that run throughout the School year Siblings are allocated to the same House. We are not always able to allocate cousins to the same House.
On top of daily and weekend excursions, all year groups will go on an expedition. These are normally either in the Lake District or Northumberland All children in the year group are encouraged to go on these expeditions There will be an additional charge for these trips
Educational Visits
There will be a number of trips out of school during the Academic year, planned to enrich the children’s classroom experiences Dates for trips are entered on the Termly Calendar You will be required to complete and return a Consent Form at the start of each Academic year. Sometimes, trips are arranged at the ‘last minute’ and you will be notified as soon as possible We make every effort to monitor the cost of trips and supplement where we are able to The school has an Educational Visits Policy. Staff are required to carry out a risk assessment prior to each trip and to ensure sufficient adults accompany the children
Extra and Fees
We do try to keep extras to a minimum Any extras will be added to your termly bill For details of exactly what is included in the School fees, please refer to the fee sheet. Please direct all enquiries regarding fees to the Head or the Finance team at the Prep Schools Trust via fees@prepschoolstrust org
General Stationery
It is helpful if all children can be provided with the following items in a clearly named pencil case:
● Rubber; ruler; pencils; coloured crayons
● Felt pens (optional)
● Suitable handwriting pen x 3 (Years 3 and 4)
● Fountain pen (Year 5 and above)
The School can provide replacement items when necessary
Mathematics Stationery
In Mathematics we cover a range of topics throughout the year. It is important that your child has their own set of equipment to ensure the accuracy of their work The equipment must include
● a set of compasses with a pencil,
● a 180 degree protractor,
● a suitable ruler which is ideally 30cm,
● an eraser and
● a pencil sharpener.
Children in Years 6 to 8 should additionally have a scientific calculator It is easier and more efficient for the children, if they all have the same calculator and these are available to order through school Currently the calculator we suggest is the Casio fx-83GT X
Dogs are welcome at Mowden, but please keep them on a lead and do not let them foul the grounds as this presents a serious health hazard for the children. Any dog mess should be either taken off site or put in a plastic bag and placed in the skip in the Pre-Prep car park, NOT in the school bins
As part of our Anti-Bullying Policy, Mowden Hall aims to involve and inform parents by ensuring they are clear that the School does not tolerate bullying, and are aware of the procedures to follow if they believe that their child is being bullied. Accordingly, the purpose of this leaflet is to share relevant information with parents Much of this information is regularly discussed with the children.
Bullying is not tolerated in our School, but we would be foolish to pretend it doesn’t happen here. It can happen in any school and national studies show that bullying occurs more than anyone might think Bullying affects everyone, not just the bullies and the victims It also affects those other children who watch, and who can get drawn in by group pressure. Bullying is not an inevitable part of growing up; but neither does it usually sort itself out. We hope you will agree with us that we all need to be active and work together to make school life happy and secure for all children.
Mowden Hall acknowledges that prevention is better than intervention. The issue of bullying is covered in Form Period and PSHE lessons and also through assemblies. We will use various methods for helping children to be aware of and to prevent bullying The reasons for bullying will vary from case to case; it would not be appropriate to use the same strategies on every occasion Our aim is for the bully to recognise and stop his/her behaviour We all need to be active and work together to make school life happy and secure for everyone
The NSPCC defines bullying as:
Bullying is behaviour that hurts someone else It includes name calling, hitting, pushing, spreading rumours, threatening or undermining someone. It can happen anywhere – at school, at home or online It's usually repeated over a long period of time and can hurt a child both physically and emotionally. Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place online. Unlike bullying offline, online bullying can follow the child wherever they go, via social networks, gaming and mobile phone
What does bullying look like in a school?
1 Bullying goes on for a while or happens regularly
2. Bullying is deliberate. The other person wants to hurt, humiliate or harm the target.
3 Bullying involves someone (or several people) who are stronger in some way than the person being bullied – older, stronger, more of them, know a secret about them
THESE THREE THINGS HAVE TO HAPPEN TOGETHER FOR SOMETHING TO BE CALLED ‘BULLYING’.
The following is NOT bullying:
● A one-off fight or argument
● A friend sometimes being nasty.
● An argument with a friend
What does Mowden Hall do about bullying?
● Make sure we all mean the same thing when we talk about bullying
● Help pupils understand how bullying feels for the person being bullied.
● Makes sure pupils feel ok about telling an adult when they know bullying is going on
● Make sure all pupils know what to do if they are being bullied
● Mowden Hall takes bullying very seriously and imposes proportionate sanctions.
● Mowden Hall record all instances of Bullying in both the Pre-Prep and Prep School.
● For more information, please see the Mowden Hall Behaviour Policy
Why do witnesses not tell?
● Nine times out of ten bullying involves witnesses, so why don’t they stop it, or tell?
● They worry they will become targets themselves
● They do not want to be seen as a snitch!
● It is hard to go against the crowd.
● And yet evidence shows that the more people tell about any bullying they see going on, the less it happens
Why do people bully others?
● They want to fit in with others
● It feels like fun – they don’t realise how much it hurts.
● They dislike or are jealous of someone.
● It makes them feel powerful
● It gets them something they want (money, sweets)
● They are bullied themselves and want to take out their hurt and anger on someone who won’t fight back.
● They have problems in their life that make them feel bad
What to do if you are being bullied, or are a witness to someone being bullied:
● Tell a friend
● Tell a family member
● Tell a senior pupil
● Tell a member of staff
● Tell an adult
● Write a note for the report a problem box or use the pupil intranet report and problem button
● Send an email to a member of staff
● Always ask before you send a picture or information that could be shared with other people Remember you don’t know what will happen to any pictures or information you let people have. What you think of a joke may be really upsetting to someone else.
● Think before you send a message about yourself or other people. It doesn’t take long for it to be shared with every single person you know!!
● Never give out personal information when it can be shared with others – you may trust your friends, but you don’t know their friends.
● Treat your password like your toothbrush – don’t let anybody else use it!
● If you receive nasty messages, texts, comments etc , block the person sending them and always report it to an adult (parent, teacher).
● Don’t reply to a bullying message but do keep it – whether it is a picture, message or online communication
How do I know if my child is being bullied?
Look out for the following:
● Behaviour changes
● Withdrawal
● Be unwilling to go to school
● Lots of stomach-aches, headaches or non-specific illness
● Belongings missing or torn clothes
● Frequent bruises or other signs of physical harm
● Refuse to say what is wrong
● Begin to do poorly in school work
My child is being bullied! What can I do?
● If your son and daughter tells you they are being bullied, keep calm. Getting angry and threatening to visit the school or the parent of the other pupil will terrify them further.
● Praise them for telling you and reassure them that they have done the right thing
● Listen and reassure – they will feel vulnerable and their self-esteem will be low
● Talk to school and raise your concerns.
● Talk to your child about the reasons why people become bullies
● Look at our Anti-Bullying Policy – this will explain how Mowden, as a school, deals with incidents of bullying.
Good advice to give your son/ daughter if they are being bullied:
● Avoid the people doing the bullying (not always easy).
● Stay with friends
● Ignore the bully and try to stay calm
● Encourage them to talk to an adult they trust, put a note in the ‘report a problem’ box, or email an adult they trust
My child is a bully! What can I do?
● In a 2013 survey of about 1000 parents, about a third of parents suspected their child may be a bully
● Stay calm and ask the School to provide all the details about what has transpired. Ensure the School knows you want to work together to achieve a positive outcome
● Speak to your child, and ask in a calm, firm tone what has happened, and why they have behaved in that way. Listen, and avoid blame.
● Help your child understand how their behaviour has affected another person – use questions like, ‘Is what you did respectful?’, ‘did it hurt someone?’, ‘Would you want someone to behave that way to you?’.
● Help your child understand they are accountable for their actions. Ensure that consequences are followed through
● Don’t be afraid to ask School for help.

These are innovative projects in which schools and colleges in Northumberland are participating, and are run in partnership with Northumberland County Council and Northumbria Police
Operation Endeavour aims to support children and young people who go missing from home Children who go missing from home are at risk of significant harm and they may be vulnerable to sexual exploitation, violent crime, gang exploitation, or to drug and alcohol misuse As a result, following any report of a child going missing to the Police, the Police will make
contact with Children’s Social Care who will then communicate relevant and necessary information to the nominated school staff
Mowden Hall has members of staff (key adults) who have been fully trained in liaising with the Police and Children’s Social Care when required and will ensure that the necessary support is made available to the child or young person following their return
Operation Encompass aims to support children and young people who are affected by domestic abuse. Experiencing domestic abuse is really distressing for a child or young person, who often see the abuse, hear it from another room, see a parent’s injuries or distress afterwards or can be physically hurt by trying to stop the abuse
As a result, following any domestic abuse incident being reported to the Police, the Police will make contact with Children’s Social Care who will then communicate relevant and necessary information to nominated school staff This will ensure that the school is made aware at the earliest possible opportunity and can subsequently provide support to children in a way that means they feel safe and listened to
Again, Mowden Hall has members of staff (key adults) who have been fully trained in liaising with police and Children’s Social Care when required, and will ensure that the necessary support is made available to the child or young person following the disclosure of a domestic abuse incident.

We believe that these projects demonstrate our school’s commitment to working in partnership to safeguard and protect children, and in providing the best possible care and support for our pupils If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Mr Sturt directly psturt@mowdenhallpst.org
At Mowden Hall, we take the emotional health and wellbeing of our pupils and staff very seriously Our ethos is a caring one that develops respect, self-esteem and aims to give a voice for all. We are committed to producing a caring and supportive environment which is conducive to the welfare of all children and which enables them to develop and achieve their full potential. We promote a supportive and inclusive ethos, which values parental involvement and their contributions.
Pupils in the Prep School (Years 3-8) complete a welfare questionnaire every Half Term The questionnaire is completed during form periods at the end of each Half Term, with form tutors providing guidance on what each of the criteria means Pupil friendly descriptions are also included on the reverse of the questionnaire
The questionnaires focus on the following areas of pupil wellbeing:
• Safety
• Health
• Achievement
• Nurture
• Activity
• Respect
• Responsibility
• Inclusion.
Once completed, the results of the questionnaire are collated on a whole school database that is accessible to the pastoral staff within the school.
Any areas of concern (e g a low mark, a decrease in a mark) are addressed initially with the pupil involved on a one-to-one basis with their Form Tutor who will then involve other relevant members of staff if required. The results of the questionnaire allow staff to identify and track any areas of wellbeing in which pupils may require support or intervention
All Year 7 pupils spend time in the Summer Term at the Château de Sauveterre in the South-West of France to be immersed in the French language and truly experience the culture of the region They have the opportunity to improve their written and spoken French, as well as develop personally and socially, acting as guests and hosts in a foreign country. The fine weather, wonderful food and small numbers maximise their opportunity to grow academically and socially, and the Sauveterre experience is routinely cited as a highlight of a Mowdenian’s time at school
For any further information, or if you have any questions, please contact our Head of Languages at jlamb@mowdenhallpst org
Pupils are given the opportunity to join the school ski trip, which runs for a week during the Spring Term This is a chance for pupils to enjoy the thrill of the slopes, but also develop their personal and social skills in a new environment, outside of the school, under the supervision and care of our staff Exact details can vary year on year, but further information regarding the trip will be disseminated closer to the event.
We offer paid holiday clubs (non-residential) for the first week of October half term, the first week of the Easter break, and the last week of the summer holiday We offer separate clubs for 3 to 6 year olds and 7 to 13 year olds, delivered by a mixture of Mowden staff and external providers. Sign up forms will be shared through Head’s Updates and Notices throughout the year
