A+ % How do we measure change? ◦ What key information do we need to monitor to know whether we are achieving the changes we would like to achieve? ◦ What are our targets for this programme

Chhongba: we didn't get a chance to work on this section when we spoke on skype. Basically we would need to identify targets which would tell us if we're achieving the changes we have identified in the previous red 'What do we aim to achieve?' section. These targets should focus especially on tracking the changes we have identified in the final 'Main Aims' part of that red section. Some possible examples of targets might be: 1. 2.

3. 4.

An x% improvement in average grades achieved by students (since we started working at the school) A list of necessary facilities and teachers needed to allow the school to teach to grade 10 level and a list of what MMNepal has built and funded to achieve this x% of students from Bupsa graduate high school with a minimum C grade, etc. x% decrease in number of children leaving village to pursue education

(NOTE: Once we identify these targets the next step is to design data collection info to allow us to monitor to what exent we're meeting the targets. See the example Data Collection Methods form for the example from Kenya)

(People – Resources – What we do – What we aim to achieve – How we measure change – Wider goal )

Chhongba: we also didn't get a chance to work on this section. Basically here we would explain how the changes we have identified in the previous red 'What do we aim to achieve?' section contribute to achieving a wider development goal. From what we discussed and what you told me about the project, an example might be something like: What is the wider goal? ◦ What more general development impact are we trying to contribute to through this project/programme? ◦ How does this project/programme fit with our wider development strategy for the region and that of the local authorities or government?

“Improvement in quality of education for young people from rural villages in Himalayas. Long-term contribution to sustainable development of region and increase in economic and social development of villages. Overall improvement in quality of life for families in Bupsa.”
