Moving Mountains University Societies Aim To promote International Development trips for Moving Mountains and relate with Development Societies at Universities, studenthubs ‘Impact International’ and student bodies. To fundraise for the charity and assist with online administration and promotion, develop specific programmes and projects, and encourage interest in international development.

Structure A student society with a committee of up to ten people, including a chairperson, secretary and treasurer, and a membership which adheres to the usual protocol of an annual general meeting and regular meetings throughout the year to discuss and implement events and programmes. There should be a standard article of association and memorandum of agreement with Moving Mountains Trust, in order to protect its brand and identity.

Tasks for MM Societies Annual events ● Promote and organise a volunteering trip to one or more of the locations where Moving Mountains operates. Recruit volunteers to carry out a project or programme determined by and agreed with the charity, for example a construction project, medical camp, rehabilitation camp, charity challenge, tree planting project, etc. ● Organisation of two fundraising events for the charity per year e.g. Charity Challenges ● Organisation of two informative/educational events related to international development, invitation of guest speakers, promotion of events within university and wider community ● Attend other relevant international development events, inside and outside university e.g. business fights poverty, industry meetings, tourism concern ● Help to organise and attend a national MM societies event/fundraiser Monthly commitments: ● Write blog pieces for the MM site on development, charity projects and programmes, interesting subjects around development, voluntourism, and NGO news. ● Help research information in the charity for our improvement and development ● Get involved in some of the administrative duties which can be done online or on computer – e.g. formatting annual reports, databasing ● Promoting MM to other uni societies and platforms like Studenthubs ● Active promotion of MM through social media ● Development of MM presence in both the university and the wider local community and region: development of community links ● Create links to the site from other forums and websites to improve SEO and branding ● Help research other organisations we can link and/or register with to help build our profile and improve our credibility and work, and help to build the information on our website (content) and create a central forum for visitors ● Communicate with the staff in Kenya and Nepal and Borneo and assist them with administrative work and research, and if possible help to source ways of translating our policies etc. into local languages. ● Communicate with other MM societies in other universities and share events, information and training. ● Communicate with membership and previous members: creation of society alumni. ● Develop links with university faculties to link MM with research projects and academic investigations Promote AA/MM - include reference to our work with:
