IN CINEMAS 19 SEPTEMBER
Director Kogonada / Starring Margot Robbie, Colin Farrell, Phoebe WallerBridge / Genre Adventure, Romance
If you’re not yet familiar with the work of Kogonada – the director who began his career through poignant and artful video essays dissecting cinema online – now’s the time.
In just a handful of years, he’s transitioned from analysing iconic films to creating his own and has quietly become one of Hollywood’s most unique and revered new voices. After his wondrous debut films, Columbus and After Yang, he returns with a highly-anticipated third feature that promises to be just as bold, daring, and distinctive.
Margot Robbie is Sarah. Colin Farrell is David. They meet at a wedding, share a fleeting exchange,
and then, on a drive together, discover a mysterious red door in the woods. This one discovery will change both their lives and their life together, forever.
The film’s true nature remains deliberately under wraps for now, but if you love romantic journeys of discovery, this one will be right up your alley. Kogonada once again brings his signature visually stunning and emotional storytelling as Farrell and Robbie’s characters relive their lives, shape their futures, and accept their pasts.
Expect tears, laughter, smiles, a Farrell dance number and, perhaps, even awards for this one.
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
After their relationship turns sour, Jim Carrey’s Joel and Kate Winslet’s Clementine erase each other from their memories, only to fall in love all over again.
Twelve years on, Spike Jonze’s AI love story starring Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson feels even more prevalent, powerful, and brilliant than it did on its debut.
Being able to time travel might be a very dicey prospect, but Domhnall Gleeson’s Tim certainly uses it wisely for his own love story with Rachel McAdams’ Mary.

Director Josh Boone / Starring Mckenna Grace, Allison Williams, Mason Thames / Genre Drama
Colleen Hoover published her debut novel in 2011, but it wasn’t until the height of the pandemic years later that a viral social media wave catapulted her – and her 2016 novel It Ends With Us – to a level of fame nobody expected, least of all Hoover herself.
Following last year’s hit adaptation of It Ends With Us, starring Blake Lively, Hoover’s 2019 best-selling novel Regretting You is now lighting up the big screen, with an even starrier cast.
Tailored to invite a slightly younger audience, but no less poignant, it explores a complex mother-daughter bond tested by tragedy, betrayal, and the messy beauty of forgiveness. Blending mature family drama with tender coming-of-age themes, it’s a bittersweet and heartrending tale – an ideal match for The Fault In Our Stars director Josh Boone.
Bringing the story to life, Mckenna Grace and Allison Williams star as Clara and her mother Morgan, with Willa Fitzgerald as beloved aunt Jenny and Dave Franco as her husband Jonah. But when a tragic car accident claims Jenny and Clara’s father Chris, played by Scott Eastwood, both homes are shattered – leaving behind heartbreak and unanswered questions. Mason Thames rounds out the cast as Clara’s high school crush, Miller, who becomes a source of comfort on her uncertain path to healing.
With moments of laughter, heartbreak, and hope, this promises a deeply moving cinema experience you won’t regret.
Colleen Hoover – aka #CoHo to her devoted fans, or #CoHort – shows no signs of slowing down. With Hollywood fully aboard the Hoover hype train, there’s more adaptations on the horizon:

WORDS ROBB SHEPPARD
Ben Richards is a man on the edge: blacklisted from employment, father to a daughter in need of life-saving surgery, and fresh out of options. As a last resort, he enters the deadliest game show on Earth and goes on the run… with what feels like the whole world chasing him.
An all-new take on the Stephen King novel – NOT a remake of the iconic eighties Schwarzenegger actioner – Edgar Wright’s The Running Man unfolds in the open world rather than a film studio, raising the stakes to even deadlier heights. When every camera is pointed at you and everyone wants to reap the reward, where do you turn?
That’s the pressing question facing Glen Powell’s latest action man as he continues to soar after Top Gun: Maverick and Twisters. He’s joined by Josh Brolin as a swarthy Thanoslevel TV boss, Colman Domingo as a game show
host with all the rizz, and Michael Cera as the only person who seems to be on Ben’s side.
In the age of constant surveillance, while many broadcast every intimate detail of their day, this fun and frantic thrill may hit a little too close for comfort. Perhaps it’s even a cautionary tale, albeit one filled with quick quips, fast fists, and big bangs.
3, 2, 1… Action!
Amongst all the laughs and pop culture references, Wright is a director with S-tier action chops as demonstrated with serious smackdowns between Mr Pilgrim and super-powered vegans, snow dragons, and “ironic” millennials. KAPOW!
Wright knows how to hit the road, too! Spectacular street stunts and frenetic gunfire are synced to a killer soundtrack in a bank heist getaway thriller that’s both fast and furious.
You can’t talk about Wright without mentioning The Cornetto Trilogy. Shaun Of The Dead and The World’s End have action aplenty, but it’s the second instalment with the most, boasting supermarket shootouts, OAP knock-outs, and a big fight in a miniature village. Perfick.

Director Scott Cooper / Starring Jeremy Allen White, Jeremy Strong, Stephen Graham, Odessa Young / Genre Biography, Drama, Musical
Crazy Heart director Scott Cooper amps up the work of author Warren Zanes into a raw, electrifying portrait of a music icon in his definitive years. Burning with creative fire and as gritty as it is energetic, this is a story born for the big screen.
Set against the backdrop of Bruce Springsteen’s haunting 1982 acoustic album Nebraska, the film dives headfirst into the artist’s creative process. As he teeters on the edge of rarefied superstardom achieved by so few – one that still fills stadiums today – we witness the moments that can make or break any aspiring musician. In a performance destined to be career-defining, Jeremy Allen White channels the Boss with uncanny precision, having thoroughly researched his life, mannerisms, and music. He performs the songs himself, too –and has earned Springsteen’s personal stamp of approval.
The acting talent foundations are nothing short of solid as the film boasts powerhouse support,
An Oscar-winning Jamie Foxx takes us through the life story of legendary musician Ray Charles as he makes his way through the lively and stunning world of jazz. Ray is easily one of the strongest biopics to ever exist.
with Jeremy Strong, Stephen Graham, Paul Walter Hauser, and Odessa Young adding depth to the story’s emotional heartbeat. Following his Oscar-winning success with Jeff Bridges in Crazy Heart, Cooper trades fiction for a real-life music legend, and the result is a cinematic journey that’s undoubtedly going to strike a chord.
Harnessing a stomping performance from Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury, we follow Queen from their pub-filled formation in London to their legendary performance at Live Aid in 1985. Confidently loud, fast, and fiercely emotional, Bohemian Rhapsody hits all the right notes.
Timothée Chalamet delights with his outstanding version of enigmatic music legend Bob Dylan in his formative years. James Mangold perfectly shows the staple musician’s paradox as Bob navigates the highs and lows of his long-chased goal of fame.

WORDS CHRIS
WASEY
Director Joachim Rønning / Starring Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, Gillian Anderson, Jeff Bridges / Genre Action, Sci-Fi
Spanning five decades, Tron is one of sci-fi cinema’s most enduring and influential franchises. The legendary, Jeff Bridges-led 1982 original was a visual effects pioneer, offering a story that reflected society’s distrust in the rise of computers. Tron: Legacy reimagined the Grid as a synth-driven cyberpunk dystopia – enormous in scope, it established a cinematic scale that wouldn’t be matched until the peak of the MCU.
Now, as the franchise returns, those themes are as relevant as ever in an era where tech anxiety pervades. Tron: Ares imagines a future where AI doesn’t just create what we can imagine – it threatens to destroy everything we know.
Oscar-winner Jared Leto leads as the enigmatic Ares, a dangerous Program with a mission to infiltrate our world. In his wake, the Grid
begins its invasion, bringing the franchise’s futuristic powers crashing into our world. Signature Light Cycle battles erupt on our streets as laserlike energy emissions scythe through cars with ease, hulking Recognizers and acrobatic Light Jets patrol the skies, and Identity Discs tear the very fabric of reality.
Stunning, high-stakes action, the iconic neon-drenched aesthetic, and a thumping Nine Inch Nails’ soundtrack – Tron is back!
A dark digital frontier awaits.
Multiple decades between instalments is very much the norm for Tron. Here’s the story so far, for those who need to download an update.
Computer programmer Kevin Flynn is pulled into a digital world called the Grid – a reality where Programs appear as human avatars, but deletion is a very real execution. Trapped inside, he teams up with security Program Tron to battle the oppressive Master Control Programme.
Decades later, Flynn’s son Sam discovers the portal to the Grid and is drawn in, finding his longlost father, who’s been trapped inside for years. With the digital world now under the control of Clu, a ruthless AI mirror image of Kevin’s brilliance, they must stop an invasion of the real world.
Aziz Ansari, Keanu Reeves, and Seth Rogen go full Freaky Friday in a hilarious, high-concept comedy with a heavenly twist.
Director Aziz Ansari / Starring Aziz Ansari, Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen, Sandra Oh / Genre Action, Comedy
After four decades of iconic roles –from a most excellent adventurer and demon hunter to a professional assassin and The One, and almost everything in between – you’d be forgiven for thinking he’s done it all. He’s a hero on and off screen to many. Now, Keanu Reeves is a literal guardian angel… well, sort of.
The raucous original comedy from writer, director, and star Aziz Ansari follows a struggling gig worker in desperate need for help, and an angel who’s just as desperate for a lost soul to save. The catch? The divine interventions this particular angel is usually charged with are lowstakes miracles – like stopping folks using their phones while driving.
So when he crosses paths with Ansari’s Arj – who’s stayed loyal to his boss, Seth
Rogen’s Jeff, for far too long –Reeves’ Gabriel jumps at the chance to prove his true angelic ability. His solution? A body swap between Arj and Jeff, unleashing a cascade of chaotic and hilarious events.
With an A-list cast that also includes Keke Palmer and Sandra Oh, Good Fortune promises a new kind of quirky comedy with an angelic edge. One that heaven and Earth is worth moving to see.
If it’s not too early to talk Christmas classics, the timeless tale of a depressed small-town banker who’s shown how bleak the world would be without him never fails to charm. Clarence is the quintessential guardian angel, and he truly earns his wings.
Kevin Smith’s cult classic comedy stars Matt Damon and Ben Affleck as two fallen angels trying to make their way back into heaven by dastardly means. Turns out an abortion clinic worker might be humanity’s only hope.
DC’s chain-smoking exorcist makes his big-screen debut with Keanu Reeves in the trench coat. John Constantine gets wrapped up in a detective story about hell’s planned invasion of Earth. Tilda Swinton dons the wings of Gabriel alongside him.

After his bold reinvention with 2022’s Prey and recent animated anthology Killer Of Killers, it’s fair to say director Dan Trachtenberg has become an authority on all things Predator. Now, he returns to expand the universe once more with a wild spin on the iconic action villain. Predator: Badlands marks the seventh film in the franchise, but it’s the very first to put the titular alienhunting badass front and centre. This time, the laser sights are locked on Dek, a young, less experienced member of the Yautja tribe, who’s tasked with proving his skills by hunting down the ultimate adversary on a dangerous remote
planet after being rendered an outcast. Joining him is Elle Fanning’s Thia, a young female android created by Weyland-Yutani, who seemingly intends to help him complete his mission – though anyone familiar with the company knows their synthetics can’t always be trusted. Even more curious, Fanning pulls double duty by playing a second, yet-to-be revealed role.
Like its predecessors, Badlands promises to be another glowingblood-soaked action romp, but one that digs much deeper into the lore than ever before, with giant otherworldly creatures, multiple Predator variants, and subtle ties to the Alien franchise.
In other words: the most dangerous – and unpredictable –hunt is about to begin.
Arguably as iconic as the face beneath it, the Predator’s bio-mask is more than just protection. It enhances vision with infrared and telescopic modes, and even mimics the vocal patterns of any target it tracks.
A cornerstone of any Predator’s arsenal controls cloaking, projects holographic maps, and conceals an array of deadly tools – from retractable blades to high- yield explosives. Designs may vary, but all share one brutal feature: a built- in self-destruct for when all other options fail.
The latest – and potentially greatest –addition to the arsenal in Predator: Badlands is the laser-edged sword. Superheated at the user’s command, it slices through enemies with devastating ease, bringing a whole new level of carnage to the hunt.
