LAW FIRM CAPTURING TRANSATLANTIC MARKET
Law firm Gregory Abrams Davidson (GAD) is utilising the expertise and experience of one of its lawyers to grow its niche Transatlantic practice.
Jonathan Abrams’ qualification as both a US attorney and a UK solicitor, have opened up new opportunities through which GAD is advising a growing number of UK businesses looking to expand to the US. And he is also working with American entrepreneurs looking at British investments.
After graduating with a law degree from Leeds University years ago Jonathan, who has dual UK/US citizenship, moved to the US to tour with a band but, instead of following a musical career, he ended up passing the New York bar exam and working as a US attorney for six years.
During his time there he worked as a New York ‘suit’, specialising in mergers and acquisitions, both in private practice, most recently for Norton Rose Fulbright in New York, and in-house at Goldman Sachs. After returning to the UK in 2009 he joined GAD. Having also qualified as a solicitor in the UK he initially worked on domestic law. But as word of his US qualification grew Jonathan began advising British businesses looking to get a foothold in the US.
This gave GAD a powerful new string to its bow. Today that side of the business has grown significantly, and continues to do so.
The firm established a full-time US-UK unit in 2017.
Led by Jonathan’s expertise, it now advises companies across a range of industries and of different sizes.
While most are British companies looking to establish operations in the US there is also a growing number of American firms who are utilising Jonathan’s expertise to help guide their investments here in the UK. This mainly business-to-business work covers areas such as mergers and acquisitions, investments, sales, finance and an array of commercial agreements including licences, joint ventures and advising on US corporate structures and disputes.
Jonathan told us: “We are quite sector agnostic. If there is one popular area it is probably IT-focused, software or e-commerce etc.
“We do sports work as well, particularly soccer, as well as service-based businesses where the UK operations can still acts as a central HQ, whilst the US business is being nurtured.
“There is a range but it is most often more a need for a US-led service than a need for specific expertise in a particular area. Other professional firms may come to us and
say ‘we can’t advise on this, we need a USqualified lawyer’.
“In addition to the work we do, our service is often supplemented by a list of experts on our contact list in the US who cover areas such as tax, immigration, regulatory matters, HR, finance, insurance and litigation support. We complement our expertise with others’ to offer a full US service from the UK.
“Post-Brexit we started seeing a lot more companies at least looking to the US and what a growing trend I have observed more recently is US companies looking to acquire UK companies and use them as an outsourced partner.”
Jonathan is based out of GAD’s London office but will also operate from both Liverpool, Wirral and New York when need be. He says around a quarter to a third of his clients are based in Liverpool city region.
Key to successfully getting a foothold in the US is planning, capital and timing. He explained: “If you are well prepared and geared up financially then you have a greater chance to crack it.
“However, it may take longer than you think. It’s a long-term commitment, which should be a part of the overall business strategy.
“Think of it as a market just like the UK but many many times bigger. If you have a product or service that appeals to people in the UK then there is a high chance it will appeal in the US to a similar demographic, but on a larger scale. Timing is also vital, so take advantage when the time is right.”
GAD’s Transatlantic business has grown to the point where it now accounts for onethird of all new business enquiries. However, with the re-election of Donald Trump as President, what will this mean for US-UK trade and business relations?
Trump has wasted little time in making his mark and is already using tariffs as a way of flexing the US’s economic power on the world stage. Canada, Mexico and China are all in his sights, with possible EU tariffs also mooted.
Jonathan believes the Republican President has a more favourable view of the UK due to his Scottish roots. He hopes this will lead to the opening up of increased

trade opportunities between the two countries.
“I am going to be bold and say that I can’t see tariffs being placed on UK-US dealings. Britain poses little or no threat to US security or commerce, in the same way as the tariff-threatened countries do and is viewed as more of a partner, but commercially and culturally.
“The tariffs are a way for Trump and the US to flex their muscles and force counterparties to reach a deal on, for example, border security, as far as Mexico and Canada are concerned, which has already paid off.
“Trump and his advisors realise that one of the USA’s superpowers is its ability to “consume”, with many countries relying on the US Dollar.
“China is seen as a threat not only in business terms but also to the US’s status as the dominant global superpower and he is looking to drive a bargain to strengthen the USA’s position generally.
“It is difficult to know what will happen but I think Britain now needs America more than ever, especially in the face of a low-growth economic outlook. The longer term fallout from Brexit, which we are just starting to see, is that we have weaker links with our immediate neighbours in the EU.
“So we really need the US as a key trading partner. Problem that we have is that the only thing Trump is focused on is ‘making America great again. They have a very inward looking agenda.
“There is a lot going on in the UK. I am a member of British-American Business and I go to lots of events. There are lots of initiatives and a lot goes on behind the scenes. I think the US looks to Britain as an important strategic partner.
“Whether or not there will be a trade deal I don’t know. But from the work that I see there is already so much cooperation anyway.
“There are lots of US companies, big and small, who are looking at the UK as a centre of skills and expertise and speaking the same language. The favourable exchange rate makes for cost-effective trading too.
“I think Americans they do look on us favourably, as an ally. Unless there is a huge disincentive then they are still going to trade closely with the UK.
“I know of one client, an SME, that is picking up big US clients and contracts because they want a cost-effective, specialist service provider and it is a win-win.
“There are many things that work in favour of UK businesses and I am here to help and advise them to navigate the US commercial and legal landscape.”
Jonathan Abrams is qualified to practise in both the UK and US
WATER: YOUR BODY'S HIDDEN ENERGY SOURCE
Discover how this simple molecule powers your body's most vital functions
We all know water is essential for life, but what if we told you it's far more remarkable than you might imagine? Beyond simply keeping you hydrated, water acts as your body's secret energy conductor, orchestrating countless processes that keep you healthy and vibrant.
The Amazing Fourth Phase of Water
Scientists have discovered something fascinating about water in our bodies. When light hits water—especially the infrared light that surrounds us daily—something magical happens. The water transforms into what researchers call "structured water" or EZ (Exclusion Zone) water.
Think of regular water as a crowd of people milling about randomly. Structured water is like that same crowd organising into neat, orderly rows. This organised water can store and transfer energy much more efficiently than regular water, acting like tiny batteries throughout your body.
Your Body's Living Architecture
Your body is essentially a sophisticated water-based network. Every cell, tissue, and organ is connected through intricate pathways of collagen fibers and microscopic tubes called microtubules. Picture your body as a suspension bridge—the cables and supports work together to maintain structure while allowing for movement and flexibility.
Water flows through this living architecture, carrying energy and information from one part of your body to another. This network helps explain why you might feel tension in your shoulders when you're stressed, or why gentle movement can improve your mood—everything is connected through this water-based communication system.
The Energy Currency of Life
At the cellular level, your body runs on a molecule called ATP—think of it as your cells' currency. Just like money allows you to exchange goods and services, ATP allows your cells to power all their activities, from muscle contractions to brain function.
Water plays a crucial role in creating this cellular energy. Inside your cells' powerhouses (called mitochondria), water helps generate ATP through a process similar to how a hydroelectric dam uses flowing water to create electricity. The better hydrated your cells are with structured water, the more efficiently they can produce energy.
The Modern Challenge: EMF and Cellular Dehydration
Here's where things get interesting for our modern lives. We're surrounded by electromagnetic fields (EMF) from phones, WiFi, and countless electronic devices. While these technologies make life convenient, they can interfere with water's natural structure in our bodies.
When EMF disrupts the organised structure of water in your cells, it's like turning those neat rows of people back into a random crowd. This creates cellular congestion and can lead to chronic dehydration at the cellular level—even if you're drinking plenty of water. Your body interprets this disruption as stress, leading to inflammation and reduced energy levels.
Simple Ways to Support Your Body's Water Systems
Understanding water's vital role opens up practical ways to boost your energy and wellbeing:
Optimise your hydration: Drink clean, filtered water throughout the day. Consider adding a pinch of natural sea salt to help your cells absorb water more effectively.
Get morning sunlight: Infrared light from the sun helps structure the water in your body. Spend 10-15 minutes outside each morning without sunglasses.
Move regularly: Gentle movement helps water flow through your body's network. Even simple stretching or walking can improve circulation and energy flow.
Create EMF-free zones: Consider turning off WiFi at night and keeping devices away from your sleeping area to give your body's water systems a chance to reorganise.
Eat water-rich foods: Fresh fruits and vegetables contain structured water that your body can use more readily than plain water.
The Bigger Picture
Water isn't just something you drink—it's the foundation of your body's energy system. By understanding and supporting your body's relationship with water, you're not just staying hydrated; you're optimising your body's natural ability to generate, store, and use energy.
The next time you take a sip of water, remember that you're not just quenching your thirst. You're fueling a remarkable biological system that has evolved over millions of years to harness the power of this simple yet extraordinary molecule. By honoring water's role in your body, you're taking a fundamental step toward better health, more energy, and greater vitality.

PURPOSE AS A CUP OF TEA
We often talk about purpose as though it’s something big, dramatic, or world-changing. Find your purpose, they say. Like it’s hiding on a mountaintop somewhere, waiting to be discovered with enough striving or soul-searching.
But what if purpose isn’t some epic quest? What if it’s just... a cup of tea?
I’ve found that some mornings, my purpose is exactly that. The ritual of boiling the kettle. The way the steam curls up from the mug. That first sip — grounding, simple, alive. It gives shape to the day ahead. It anchors me in something gentle and real.
The Power of Small Purpose
Research supports what many of us feel instinctively: having a sense of purpose, no matter how small, is good for our wellbeing. A 2014 study published in Psychological Science found that people with a sense of purpose lived longer and were more resilient to stress, regardless of age or other psychological factors.¹ But the study didn’t say your purpose had to be a calling or a career. Just having purpose, a reason to get up in the morning, made a difference.
That “reason” doesn’t need to be revolutionary. It might be the friend you’re meeting for coffee. The dog that needs walking. The book you’re halfway through. Or yes, even the dishes in the sink that need doing.
These quiet, everyday moments carry meaning. They give us rhythm, connection, and sometimes even joy. They pull us into our presence.
Everyday Meaning is Still Meaning
We live in a culture obsessed with productivity and legacy, constantly asking: Are you doing enough? Are you making an impact? Are you fulfilling your potential?
But maybe purpose doesn’t have to be so performative. Maybe it’s enough that something feels good to you. Purpose, when stripped of expectation, becomes personal. It becomes something you get to define on your own terms, not something you earn or prove.
What feels good to you right now?
What makes you feel just a little more yourself? What helps you feel rooted in the day?
That could be your purpose today. And it’s enough.
An Invitation
So here’s an invitation:
What would change if you let go of the idea that purpose
has to be profound?
What if today, your purpose was just to enjoy your tea, stretch your legs, call a friend, water your plants, or rest?
Purpose doesn’t always shout. Often, it whispers.
And sometimes, it sounds exactly like the quiet clink of a spoon in a mug.

CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF SUPPORT FOR SURVIVORS
In April 2025, the Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (RASASC) will proudly celebrate 30 years of dedicated service to survivors of sexual violence across Cheshire and Merseyside. Since 1995, we have provided free, traumainformed counselling, advocacy, and well-being programs to individuals of all ages, genders, and backgrounds. Our mission has always been to support survivors in rebuilding their lives and regaining control after the profound impact of sexual violence.
From our beginnings as a small charity in Warrington, we have expanded our services to support not only women but also men and children affected by sexual violence. Over the years, we have provided immediate and longterm support to tens of thousands of survivors, ensuring that no one faces their journey to recovery alone. Last year alone, we supported nearly 4,000 survivors, offering them specialist guidance tailored to their individual needs. Whether the trauma is recent or historic, our confidential and non-judgmental services are here to help.
As a survivor-led organisation, we provide traumainformed care that avoids re-traumatisation and empowers individuals to move forward. Specialised counselling plays a key role in recovery, helping survivors heal from trauma, preventing mental health crises, and supporting them as they rebuild their lives. With the right support, survivors can regain confidence, return to work, maintain relationships, and, where they choose, seek justice.
Today, our services span across Cheshire and parts of Merseyside, including the boroughs of Knowsley and St. Helens. We are proud to be an accredited member of Rape Crisis England and Wales. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in the accreditation of our Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) service and Child ISVA service by Lime Culture. Additionally, our therapeutic counselling services are accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, ensuring the highest standards of care for those we support.
Our Services Include:
• Information line
• Independent Sexual Violence Advisors
• Specialist trauma-informed counselling
• Children and young people’s services
• Well-being Service
• Training and awareness-raising
• We continuously evaluate our services to ensure they meet the needs of those we support. Last year, 100% of our clients reported feeling supported throughout the
criminal justice system, and 95% felt better informed and empowered to take action. In 2024 alone, our Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) service provided 7,345 hours of advocacy support, an investment of nearly £400,000 in ensuring survivors receive the guidance and care they need.

MS Society Wirral Group has been providing support and therapy for Wirralians with this difficult neurological condition for decades. For those who aren’t quite sure what MS is, it is currently incurable and progressive and affects over 150,000 people in the UK, with around 7000 new cases every year. That is 135 per week. MS can affect balance and walking, cause difficulty and pain with movement, and cause chronic fatigue/brain fog and depression. In other words, it is tough.
Also proved is the fact that those who fight back, who socialise and exercise, who make a life in spite of the challenges, are those who hold the beast at bay. Here at MS Society Wirral Group, we aim to help our members do just those things. Our group has been placed 3rd (by the National centre) in the UK for our provision for many years, and it is facilitated by a very small team of volunteers and a fabulous exercise coach, Emma Grogan, who provides 3 seated classes per week.
Monday Yoga Stretch (10.30) is via Zoom and focuses on breath work and keeping as limber as we can, with options given to fit different levels. Our Wednesday Wellbeing session has 2 classes (10.30/11.30), both seated, with the 2nd being for those with less range of movement; we use bands, weights, and other resistance equipment to develop muscle strength. This is crucial to help us remain
independent. After this class, which is at Heswall Royal British Legion, we have a cuppa and a natter, which is equally part of well-being! Then back to Zoom for Friday at 10.30, and Pilates Energise. Emma has studied and responded to our needs brilliantly, and those of us who do 2/3 classes per week really see the difference in energy and strength.
We also have a resident Podiatrist, available monthly by appointment. All classes are subsidised by money raised in our collections at Tesco and Cherry Tree Centre, the latter being with the support of the 99th Star Wars Garrison. In addition, have given us wonderful support annually, from a charity football tournament in honour of one of their players who has MS, and we recently received a wonderful donation from Birkenhead Rugby Club Ladies. We depend on this support to continue, as we are entirely self-funded. This brilliant group has been a lifesaver for so many of our members; Why not come along on a Wednesday and see how we roll? All those who do say how warm the welcome is from this bunch of MS warriors! We would also love to have more volunteers to help us with fundraising or join our admin team. Hope to reach more people!

PREMENSTRUAL DYSPHORIC DISORDER (PMDD)
I got my first period at age fourteen. On the surface, my menstrual cycle has always been typical in that the cycle lasts for around 28 days, and I have normal periods that last around 5 days.
However, from around the time that my periods started, I have experienced pronounced symptoms that presented at key, regular points of my menstrual cycle. I didn’t know at the time, but looking back with the benefit of hindsight, my “phases” of depressive symptoms certainly lasted for a week or two, and came and went regularly. It was a pattern.
I did know that something wasn’t right and that my mental health wasn’t good, but I blamed this on my own actions. I had a lot of feelings of self-blame and recrimination, telling myself that I was weak, ungrateful, or just being dramatic, and that it was my fault that I wasn’t keeping myself well enough to stop the regular occurrence of depressive symptoms.
For 14 years, this cycle continued. I punished myself with unhealthy behaviors, trying to “fix” something I didn’t understand. Then, at 28, I stumbled across a social media post describing PMDD - and everything clicked.
I had already been tracking my moods as a way to “improve” myself, and looking back through my journal, the connection was finally made and I could clearly see the cyclical nature of my mood changes. From there I started specifically tracking my menstrual cycle too and reached out to the International Association for Premenstrual Disorders (IAPMD) for support. I went to see my GP with my tracker and some information pages from the IAPMD website, and I was diagnosed shortly after. There’s no simple cure, but with the right treatment, I’ve found a way to live more fully than ever before. Now, my focus is on raising awareness - not just of PMDD itself, but of the fact that even when it feels unbearably heavy, life is still possible.
What Is PMDD?
Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder is a condition that affects 1 in 20 cycling individuals (anyone who ovulates).
Is it just PMS?
No. PMS (premenstrual syndrome) is when a person may feel more emotional than usual or suffer with stomach cramps in the build up to their period. PMS is not thought to be debilitating - PMDD is.
Being cyclical, symptoms of PMDD generally begin shortly after ovulation – (around day 14 of the menstrual cycle) and tend to resolve soon after menstruation begins. The main symptoms of PMDD can include anxiety, depression, tension, feelings of despair and hopelessness, and sometimes, suicidal ideation. Some people will also suffer from physical symptoms, including headache, sickness, bloating and breast tenderness. Other symptoms can include brain fog, exhaustion and binge eating.
If You Think You Have PMDD
Track Your Symptoms – Keep a daily log of your moods, energy levels, and physical symptoms for at least two cycles. This can help identify patterns and will be useful when speaking to a healthcare professional.
Seek Professional Support – Book an appointment with your GP and bring your symptom tracker along with reliable resources like those from IAPMD or the National Association for Premenstrual Syndromes (NAPS).
Find Your Support Network – You don’t have to navigate PMDD alone. Connect with online communities, peer support groups, or specialists who understand the condition.

WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS…. HERE ARE
THE BENEFITS.
Lemons are a nutrient-rich fruit that offers numerous benefits to our health. Lemons contain high levels of vitamin C, fibre, and various plant compounds that support immune function. They reduce inflammation, promote healthy skin, and act as an antioxidant that may lower the risk of heart disease, cancer, and kidney stones. Lemon's dietary fibre, particularly pectin, aids digestion and helps regulate blood sugar levels, which supports gut health. Consuming whole lemons or drinking lemon water can enhance iron absorption, promote gut health, and protect against oxidative damage. This is thanks to constituents like hesperidin, diosmin, and d-limonene. Known for their detoxification powers, they are also thought to improve mood through aromatic essential oils. While generally safe, lemons should be consumed in moderation to prevent dental erosion and allergic reactions. Incorporating lemons into your diet can be a simple and natural way to boost overall health and well-being.
One use of this citrus delight is to help with cleaning. Using lemons for cleaning is an eco-friendly and efficient method, due to their natural acidity and antimicrobial properties. To clean with lemons, you can cut a lemon in half and use it to scrub surfaces like countertops, sinks, and cutting boards, which helps remove stains, grease, and bacteria. Lemon juice combined with baking soda makes a powerful paste for cleaning and deodorising appliances, sinks, and even stained fabrics. You can also simmer lemon slices in water to freshen up your kitchen or bathroom and use lemon juice to brighten whites and remove hard stains from glassware.
Lemons can effectively clean limescale. Citric acid in lemons helps break down mineral deposits like limescale on surfaces such as taps, shower heads, and tiles. To use lemons for this purpose, you can cut a lemon in half and rub it directly onto the lime scale, leave for a little while or soak it in the juice before rinsing again thoroughly. Making lemons a natural option provided by Mother Nature.
Don’t just reach for them to garnish your summer bever
Here are some recipes to enjoy their flavour and wellness benefits.
Lemon Water:
Simply add freshly squeezed lemon juice to a glass of water for a refreshing vitamin C-rich drink.
Lemonade:
Combine lemon juice with water, still / or sparkling, and a natural sweetener like honey for a classic tangy beverage.
Lemon Chicken:
Marinate chicken breasts in lemon juice, garlic, and herbs before grilling or baking for a flavourful dish.
Lemon Vinaigrette:

LIVERPOOL’S LARGEST PADEL COURTS HAVE OPENED TO MEET DEMAND FOR THE UK’S FASTEST GROWING SPORT.
A racquet sport cross between tennis and squash, padel has well over 30 million players worldwide and has seen its popularity explode over the past few years.
Now Ignite Padel has created six brand new courts in Liverpool and an exclusive What’s App community to bring players together for practice and matches.
Launched this Spring 2025, Ignite Padel is based at the site of one of the city’s oldest tennis clubs, Vagabonds, on Queens Drive in West Derby.
It has Championship Level floodlit courts, open from 7am for early morning sessions through to late evening, and offers expert coaching for beginners or more experienced players wanting to take their game to the next level.
Ignite Padel runs regular tournaments where players of a similar standard – divided into bronze, silver or gold racquet skills - can compete in a fun social way, earning personal points and teaming up with different partners.
There are also plans to launch Padel teams to compete inter-club with other venues around the region.
A spokesperson for the Liverpool-owned business says Padel is becoming the City’s favourite sport because of its accessibility and social atmosphere.
“It’s taking over from football, which is why we felt Liverpool needed more Padel courts because it’s growing so fast and so many people are engaged with it.
“One of the main attractions of Padel is the social side so alongside our top tier courts we are really trying to build a community. We currently have the biggest ‘Whatsapp Padel’ group chat in the North West which we set up to help people find other players of similar abilities.
“Every time you play, you’re in a four, you’re working together as a team and you’re building a relationship with someone who you’re playing with, either regularly with friends or you can play with different people every time.
“Our booking system allows you to instantly find other people who’ve got open matches and join them so it’s a great way to meet other players and get a game.”
Although it’s similar to tennis, and many players crossover and love both, a major advantage of Padel is how simple it is to learn.
There are no complicated rules or grips, the court is smaller and it is easier to build rallies than most other racquet sports.
“Tennis can have a reputation for being elitist where padel feels much more inclusive which is why people of all backgrounds and ages are enjoying it so much,” added the spokesperson.
At Ignite Padel, racquets are free to hire on site, and there are vending machines to buy balls in pressurised tubes of three so no specialist equipment is needed.
Courts can be booked in time slots, with 60-minute and 90-minute the most popular.
Ignite Padel Liverpool is the business’s first venue, but it has already proved so popular that its owners have plans to open more across the North West and nationwide.
Ignite Padel court bookings and more information can be found at www.ignitepadel.co.uk - Ignite Padel - Liverpool’s Premier Padel Destination

“THE SILENT EPIDEMIC OF OVER GIVING AND THE WOMAN LEADING THE REVOLUTION AGAINST IT”
An Interview with Toni Ann Martin, Holistic Life Coach & Founder of Free to Be SHE QQ: Toni Ann, you’ve spent over 35 years working with women. What inspired you to create the Free to Be SHE program?
Absolutely. I created Free to Be SHE because I saw a recurring pattern in the women I worked with no matter their background, age, or profession. They were exhausted, emotionally depleted, and often struggling with health issues that doctors couldn’t quite explain. Underneath it all, they had one thing in common: they were over givers. Women who gave and gave at home, at work, in relationships until there was nothing left for themselves.
After decades of coaching, healing, and witnessing these patterns, I knew we needed more than just self-care tips. We needed a complete reclamation a way for women to reconnect with themselves, realign with their values, and rise into their full power without burning out. That’s how Free to Be SHE was born.
Q: You’ve spoken about the connection between over giving and autoimmune conditions. Can you share more about that?
Absolutely. Science is finally catching up with what many of us intuitively know. Around 80% of autoimmune conditions where the immune system starts attacking the body occur in women. That’s no coincidence. Over giving, people-pleasing, suppressing our emotions (especially anger), and feeling responsible for other people’s happiness… these aren’t just personality traits. They’re deeply conditioned survival strategies, often passed down for generations.
When we chronically suppress our truth or override our own needs, it sends a powerful message to the body: “You don’t matter.” That inner conflict creates chronic stress, which in turn dysregulates our nervous system, raises cortisol, and weakens our immune response. Over time, the body gets confused and turns on itself. So when we talk about reclaiming our voice or our worth, it’s not just a nice idea it’s a health intervention. Healing the habit of over giving can literally strengthen your immune system and restore vitality.
Q: What makes Free to Be SHE different from other wellness or personal growth programs?
This program is designed specifically for women over 40 who are waking up to the fact that they've lost themselves somewhere along the way. Maybe it happened slowly raising kids, building a career, caring for everyone else. Or maybe it came after a health scare or a breakdown. Wherever they are, Free to Be SHE meets them with compassion.
We work through my 12-step framework in three phases:
Reconnect with who you truly are beneath the roles
Realign with your values, boundaries, and energy
Rise into a confident, grounded version of yourself
It’s not just about mindset. We incorporate neuroscience, energy work, embodiment practices, and trauma-informed coaching so the healing happens on every level: mind, body, and soul.
Q: What health changes do women report after going through your program?
So many! One woman said she hadn’t slept deeply in years now she sleeps through the night. Others have reported a reduction in autoimmune flare-ups, stabilized hormones, decreased anxiety, even fewer migraines. But the biggest shift? They feel seen often for the first time in decades. They stop apologizing for their needs. They start making nourishing decisions. Their relationships change. Their health improves because their life starts reflecting their truth.
Q: What’s one message you’d share with every woman reading this today?
You were never meant to abandon yourself to be loved. You are not here to live in burnout, silence your rage, or shrink for someone else's comfort. Your health, your joy, your voice they matter. And when you stop over giving, you don’t become selfish. You become whole. And a whole woman is powerful beyond measure.

SKIN CONSULTAION with
PEEL OR NOT TO PEEL THAT IS THE QUESTION!
Due to bad press, or just some minor so-called celeb trying to catch a head line, or a bit of publicity, good or bad, recommending peeling of the skin to a client can have them running for the door. As I am not known for my rugby tackling, luckily, I can advise them on a thing or ten about skin peels, want to know more? Read on.
Firstly, as with most things there are different types of skin peeling. The majority that are used day in and day out have a gentle exfoliating effect, unlike deep chemical peels which may keep you hidden in doors for a week.
There are different forms of exfoliation –mechanical and chemical. Mechanical exfoliation uses tools such as microdermabrasion or products with an abrasive texture to remove the outer dead skin superficially. While chemical exfoliation/peeling utilizes hydroxy acids, such as glycolic, lactic, malic, kojic, to name but a few! to dissolve the bonds that hold skin cells together allowing them to shed. Fruit enzymes such as papain and bromelain are another form of enzymatic exfoliation and work by dissolving protein (Keratin) causing softening effect to the skin and sloughing off of dead skin cells.
don’t see this happening all you feel and see afterwards is soft skin.
A light peel has a physiological effect on the skin and deeper cells, stimulating the mother cell to produce new cells.
As the top cells have been removed, although invisible to the eye, new cells have been stimulated.
I work with my clients to feed these new cells with lots of wonderful peptides, hyaluronic, anti-oxidants, and vitamins. All of these ingredients are commonly available. The difference with a clinical professional product however, is that the molecule size is small enough to penetrate deep into the skin, or has a nano delivery system, that will get deep into the skin to work on the developing cells and skin to actually make a change deep within the tissue, not just sitting on the top of dead skin just helping it look better.
Regular exfoliation speeds up your skin’s natural renewal process, which helps to keep outbreaks under control, diminishes uneven skin tone and discoloration, softens fine lines and wrinkles, and leaves skin soft and glowing, and only you will know you have had a professional peel.
This type of peel works gently allowing your skincare professional to work with you and your individual skin needs to stimulate a natural turnover of healthy skin cells.
I find this analogy works for most of my clients;
If you imagine the skin as a brick wall with the mortar in between each layer of bricks, which are dead skin cells, keeping that brick wall all firmly stuck together. Most peel solutions when applied to the skin (brick wall) start to make the intercellular bonds (mortar) crumble allowing the dead skin(bricks) to come away gently.
Now you need to remember the epidermal layers of the skin (the top most) are only approx. egg shell thick so this breaking down of the intercellular bonds (mortar)is minute. In fact, you
Don’t take my word for it look at the most popular advertising campaigns for skin care. They say, “will improve the look of” but not “will change”.
So why not try a light peel for your next facial? Ask your skin care professional and brighten your day and make a positive change to your skin

DIVORCE AND FINANCIAL CLAIMS
One of life’s most traumatic experience occurs when a relationship breaks down, for married couples, unmarried couples and civil partnerships.
The feeling of insecurity about your future and that of your children is in the forefront of your mind.
For married couples divorcing or dissolution of civil partnerships what can the court Order?
Both parties will be expected to be completely transparent providing full information as to what they have in the form of assets, income, liabilities.
Part of the role of a Barrister is to ensure that a party is not seeking to hide the true extent of their worth, by forensically examining all the papers and if necessary, will advise that a party obtains further disclosure Orders from the court ie a bank may be ordered to provide bank statements; a company may be Ordered to provide additional information.
Once satisfied that all the information is available, the court will then go on to consider what would be a fair division of the assets. The jurisdiction of the court to award financial remedies in connection with petitions for divorce, nullity and judicial separation is contained in the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973, and for dissolution proceedings the Civil Partnership Act 2004.
Following a petition for divorce, dissolution, nullity or judicial separation it is open to either party to make a claim for a financial remedy namely:
(i) maintenance pending suit;
(ii) periodical payments;
(iv) lump sum;
(v) transfer of property;
(vii) variation of ante- and post-nuptial settlements;
(viii) pension sharing order (not available in judicial separation); and
(ix) pension attachment order.
A brief overview for each of the provisions above are as follows:Maintenance pending suit – this enables the court to Order that one party provides financial support, by providing one party pays an income (separate from child maintenance) to the other, whilst the finances are being sorted out. This is to prevent any undue hardship.
Periodical payments – this is an Order requiring one party to pay maintenance to the other which, could be on a joint lives’ basis or for a termed period of time to enable that party to become selfsufficient. Again, this is separate from child maintenance. Lump sum – the court can Order that one party pays to the other a lump sum of money. This could be to enable a party to rehouse, off set a claim for pensions, a buy out of their interest in the family business/company etc…
Transfer of property – this could be the family home being transferred from one party to the other and can include other properties, for example for property developers, a split of the portfolio. This will be to enable the parties housing needs to be met. You will be advised to obtain valuations of the properties, quite often being prepared by a chartered surveyor.
Variation of ante and post nuptial settlements – this arises where the parties may have entered into a prenuptial agreement prior to marriage or during the marriage. If this agreement is unfair and has been prepared incorrectly, the court may not uphold either all or part of the agreement.
Pension Sharing Order – quiet often, the higher value assets are pensions. Both parties will be expected to provide a cash value of their pensions. It is not uncommon for your Barrister to advise that a report is prepared by a pension actuary. The report focuses on what % of a pension is needed to achieve equality of income upon retirement. The court has the power to make an Order that part of a pension fund will be transferred to the other party. This could be in the form of an internal transfer or external transfer.
Pension Attachment Order – this means that you can receive a portion of the income from the other parties’ pension fund when they start receiving their pension. These are very rarely made.
HOW CAN A BARRISTER HELP?
Barristers are highly experienced, expert professionals in advising you of what you may be entitled to.
Barristers have the benefit of court experience on a regular basis, building their knowledge of the types of Orders a court may make in your case. As the law evolves and develops, your Barrister will be fully abreast of any such changes.
In my experience, I have seen many parties via direct access, sometimes just for initial advice to put their minds at ease prior to separation, others to advise and assist throughout the process. In many situations you cannot put a price on “peace of mind”.
DIRECT ACCESS
Direct access (or Public Access) enables members of the public to instruct a barrister directly, rather than being referred by a solicitor first and having the solicitor liaise with the barrister on your behalf. The obvious benefit is that it will save costs.
By opting to proceed on a Direct Access basis, you may reduce your legal fees.
By handling litigation for yourself you will save money as you will be doing a lot of the simple admin, for example emailing the court and other parties, gathering your documents together yourself, completing forms.
So not only will you be gaining more control of your case, but you will also reduce the legal fees involved compared to hiring both a solicitor and a barrister.
You will still have your barrister there to guide you when you need help, however, just bear in mind that their time will obviously be charged for.
