Welcome to Waterford Treasures - the only dedicated Museum Quarter on the island of Ireland.

Did you know that Waterford is Ireland's oldest city with a rich history dating back to 914AD? Waterford Treasures is a group of 6 distinctly different museums set within buildings ranging from the 12th to the 21st centruries and all within walking distance of each other, in Waterford's Historic Viking Triangle.

Whether your group have an hour or all day to explore Waterford, our experienced guides are happy to show them around one or all of our distinct museums. If they have never been to Ireland before or have been following the footsteps of our Viking ancestors for generations, we are sure they will find something of interest.

We aim to create lasting memories for groups of all sizes and ages and we have a wide range of exciting and interesting tours available to suit the needs of any guest.

COLLECTION OF EXPERIENCES

THE MEDIEVAL MUSEUM See incredible artefacts including the only complete set of Medieval Cloth of Gold Vestments in Northern Europe which had been buried for almost 125 years.

THE BISHOP'S PALACE The Bishop's Palace is an 18th-century Georgian home containing a stunning collection of Irish treasures, including the oldest piece of Waterford Crystal ever made - The Penrose Decanter.

THE EPIC TOUR OF THE VIKING TRIANGLE Join us on an entertaining whirlwind tour through monuments in Waterford's Viking Triangle. A journey through a thousand years of history in a thousand paces, with surprising insights, stories and interesting facts.

THE IRISH SILVER MUSEUM The Irish Silver Museum is an intimate and personal collection of silver treasures from Ireland. From the Vikings to the Victorians, our collection has been created by Ireland's virtuoso craftsmen over the course of a millennium. The collection offers a rare opportunity to step back in time and explore the fascinating story of Ireland through its magnificent silver treasures.

THE IRISH MUSEUM OF TIME Ireland's National Horological Museum features the oldest Irish-made grandfather clocks and watches in the world and celebrates the incredible skills of the virtuoso craftsmen who, since the seventeenth century, created timepieces of remarkable beauty and technological genius.

THE IRISH WAKE MUSEUM - COMING SOON! The Irish Wake is a celebration of life, which evolved from the ancient Celtic wake. Explore the history and traditions surrounding this amazing custom. Learn about where it all began, why these traditions have carried on into modern Ireland and how they differ from funeral rites around the world.

THE BISHOP'S PALACE A re-enactor-led tour through the treasures and scandals of 18th Century Waterford and explore the beginnings of glass making in Waterford through our exciting 4D Audio Visual Experience.

THE MEDIEVAL MUSEUM Step back into Medieval Waterford as you begin your tour in the 13th century Choristers Hall and 15th Century Wine vault where you are sure to be wowed by some of the greatest Treasures of Medieval Ireland, including the Great Charter Roll viewed by HM King Charles III and the Queen Consort and the magnificent 15th century cloth-ofgold church vestments

Your tour of the Medieval Museum will begin underground in two extant Medieval buildings including the thirteenthcentury Choristers’ Hall and the fifteenth where guests will be given a glass of wine while they sit and listen to this they will proceed upstairs and learn about the wine trade in Ireland during the Medieval period and view some of the greatest treasures ever found in Ireland.

We offer tours of all of our sites with the people that curated the exhibitions. These special tours take visitors under the surface of the museums for a deeper look at the narrative of Waterford through the ages and of course the objects themselves.

In this curator-led tour, visitors will be shown around the Medieval Museum by one of our curators but also get to handle real medieval artefacts.

Hold thirteenth-century pottery found right here in Waterford over the course of excavations in the city centre.

Get up close and personal with stunning pieces of historic silver in this exclusive tour In this special handling workshop, guests will be invited to tour the Irish Silver Museum and then come along with one of our curators to handle seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth-century pieces of silver.

Visitors will be brought beyond design and taught to interpret maker’s marks, hallmarks and more in this exclusive experience.

Special and Bespoke Tours THE TREASURE TRAIL TOUR

Come along on this extended version of our Epic Walking Tour which shows you around the oldest part of Waterford and also the highlights of some of our museums on this 90-minute tour.

Groups will be given a treasure trail map with questions for inquiring minds to answer to keep everyone occupied and at the end of the map trail, our younger historians will be presented with their very own certificate to celebrate their graduation as an official Waterford Treasures Certified Historian.

Special and Bespoke Tours AMAZING ARCHAEOLOGISTS GROUP WORKSHOP

Duration: 1 hour+ max numbers: 20 Price: €6 pp

In this workshop, guests will be invited to explore the role of the museum and the relationship between museums and archaeologists through object-handling activities and other interactive experiences.

The workshop will begin with a brief tour of our medieval buildings and a small sample of the archaeological material on display in the museum. Then guests will be invited to conduct their own mini-excavation where they will find different objects and artefacts.

Finally, the experience involves a handling programme with a selection of historical replicas to discover how our ancestors lived and worked.

Special and Bespoke Tours MURDER IN THE PALACE! GROUP TOUR Duration: 1 hour+ min/max numbers: 10-25 people Price: €6 pp

This special tour of the Bishop’s Palace is based around less lovely bits of Georgian Ireland and in particular, the ghastly crime that took place on its grounds in 1820.

Visitors will be invited to come and play detective as they use our museum app and clues stashed around the building to crime and catch the murderer as they learn about life more generally in eighteenth Waterford.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Rate Basis

Rate Conditions

The rate quoted is net of commission and includes government tax (VAT) at the current rate of 9% • Waterford Treasures reserves the right to amend these rates in the event of changes to the rate of tax, or the introduction of any new government levy.

• The rates quoted are fully inclusive of all taxes. Gratuities are at a client’s discretion.

Neither agreed rates nor allocations will feature on any public or consumer internet site. Nor should they feature on any distribution system that offers or sells directly to the public, or are otherwise featured in the public domain. Under no circumstances are the rates provided to be sold unpackaged. Rates are intended only for packaging with other elements of travel and must be packaged before onward distribution. Any rates which are packaged and sold to another third party for onward distribution are bound by the terms and conditions of this contract. The Operator company cited on this contract will ensure communication of and compliance with said terms and conditions.

All amendments, including cancellations to bookings, must be notified in writing & received by Waterford Treasures. The Operator must be able to supply proof of same

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation policy • Final group numbers must be confirmed 24 hours prior to arrival • A group constitutes 10 or more people • This final agreed number must be clearly noted on the Operator’s voucher and payment is based on same • Cancellations for all pre-bookings received after this period of 24 hours will be charged in full

CANCELLATION POLICY CREDIT ACCOUNT CUSTOMERS • Where an approved credit facility is in place, invoices will be posted or emailed to the Operator • Invoices are billed in local currency and the Operator agrees to discharge amounts payable in local currency within 30 days of the invoice issue date.

• Failure to comply with credit terms will result in credit facilities being withdrawn.

• Vouchers presented by the group leader/client on arrival should state clearly the services contracted and chargeable to the Operator.

Payment Terms NON CREDIT ACCOUNT CUSTOMERS Ad Hoc Group Bookings • 10% booking deposit based on the total value of booking required immediately on confirmation of the reservation in order to secure space.

• Balance of payment (90%) payable 14 days prior to group arrival, based on final numbers quoted. Payment must be received in company’s bank account 14 days prior.
