The Lewis County pool is set open this weekend in preparation of a full summer season beginning with the end of the school year. By John Clise Editor

LEWIS COUNTY – The Lewis County pool is set to open for the Memorial Day weekend. It will be open daily from noon to 6 p.m. once school is out for the summer. The facility offers a full sized swimming pool with two large water slides, a kiddy pool, two diving boards, three water features, two smaller slides, and plenty of sun. It surely has something for everyone. Whether you want to practice your diving or just sun yourself poolside, you’ll find it there. The pool is located at Lewis County Park just off of Route 33 East of Weston. Take Smith Run Road (turn off Rt. 33 at Wendy’s) and it’s a third of a mile down the road on the left. The pool has 25 meter swimming lanes for people interesting in swimming laps. The pool is staffed with trained life guards on duty to ensure the safety of guests. There is also a snack bar offering a variety of food choices. Lewis County Park starts the new spring/summer season with a few changes including a new park director and online reservation capabilities. Buckhannon native Josh Hinchman took over the duties of park director earlier this year after serving as assistant director for Elkins parks and recreation for two years. He replaced John Shaffer who had been park director for 11 years. He resigned his position in August of last year. Park reservations can now be made online from the convenience of your home computer, laptop, cell phone or whatever device you prefer to use. No need to call the park any longer. Just visit them at www.lewiscountypark.com and click the “make a reservation” tab. It will easily walk you through the process. The Lewis County Park offers four separate pavilions for rent. The largest pavilion offers a kitchen with running

Replacement magistrates named

CHARLESTON — Two replacement magistrates have been named of two recently federally indicted magistrates in Lewis and Gilmer counties. According to an administrative order, Twenty-Sixth Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Jacob Reger requested that West Virginia Supreme Court Chief Justice Beth Walker assign a senior status magistrate to preside in Lewis County Magistrate Court during Magistrate Roger D. “Rob” Clem Jr.’s absence. In response to the request, Walker issued an order for Senior Status Magistrate James D. “Dan” Moody to be recalled for temporary assignment which began May 9. Walker will determine how long Moody’s assistance is needed, according to court documents. Fourteenth Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Richard Facemire requested a senior status magistrate to preside in Gilmer County Magistrate Court during Magistrate Alton Skinner II’s absence. Senior Status Magistrate Howard Carpenter was recalled for service between May 9 and May 19. Additionally, Walker also recalled Senior Status Magistrate Teresa Robinson for service beginning May 20, which will continue until Walker determines that her assistance is no longer needed, according to court documents. Afederal grand jury recently indicted Clem and Skinner on charges involving wire fraud, mail fraud and obstruction, according to the United States Attorney’s Office.
